Yeah I bet it has here is a picture of the old theatre in Dawson City, I see they have refurbished it now but then it was just like it was except for sinking in places from the perma-frost says built in 1899
Yup, that's the way I remember the road through town back then. In fact the whole Alcan! Nothing but mud, muck ruts and rocks!
I remember when my sister and brother in law came up and we went to McKinnley. The only way to get there was through Glenallen & Paxon, across the Denali Highway (Not much of a "Highway" as I'm sure you remember!) from Anchorage anyway. At Paxon the "road" turns to "gravel" (HA. HA! Still to this day) and about 10 miles in you near Tangle Lakes. By that point my B.I.L. was nearly shouting, "This isn't "gravel"!!! These are (FREAKIN') BOULDERS!!!" Soon after, a wheel got knocked off of the travel trailer we were pulling sending the contents of the refrigerator through the front window of the trailer! It was all pretty hilarious!!! The look on their faces was priceless, especially when we simply unhooked and left the thing there and went on our merry way.

Ah yes, Robert Service! "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" and "The Cremation of Dan McGee". Two greats form the bard of the Yukon! When recited properly, they paint an amazing picture! Always fascinated me as a kid. Movies, we didn't need no stinking movies! ;)

I'm going to have to dig up another poem from an anonymous source, written in Seward about the same time. It really hits home for any who have ever been here. I'll see what I can do............

Yep I think some of his work and a couple other books is what gave my Dad the obsession for the North. Then I caught it. I had been there 3 times before the Army sent me there for 2 years and couldn't have been a better place then Ft. Greely. Really out in the sticks or at least it was from 67-69. Loved it but never got far from Washington State once I got out of the service.

Oh man! The stories of the Alcan I could tell! Been up & down it 5 times now and you wouldn't recognize it. EVERYTHING is paved! There's even a "short cut" now but I can't remember the name of it. There are still some sketchy parts, mostly near the border, from about Haines Junction, on. Six foot frost heaves and such. (I think the Canadians are trying to discourage Alaskans from driving out. Ha, Ha!)

Well, I'd better get dinner on the grill! See ya'all tomorrow ;).

Cheers!

If the image is on your computer, click on 'Upload a File' below the chat box, double click your choice, choose 'thumbnail' or 'full image', then click 'Post Reply' :)
I'm using an iPad which stores everything on my camera roll, but if I hit the image icon on here, it asks for a URL? Apparently can't access images on this site, although it took my avatar painting from the roll. I'll call my AppleCare tech support guys, if I have something I really want to post. Thank you.

Yep its almost 630 there huh? When I got transferred it was in February and me and a friend drove it. You had to have a certain amount of money per person to get into Canada and we heard you could sneak accross at night on the Alcan. The border closed at midnite and sure as crap we drove right accross. We didn't have enough money but no sweat and I could see why people always said it was the best to drive it in winter. It was like pavement. We only had one problem I was drivin my GTO and the voltage regulator went out we used the old penny trick to get us to the next repair shop 100 or so miles. We made it it was kinda nip and tuck for a while. We had 4 cases of C rations with us so thats what we ate and we'd take the penny out every once in a while so we didn't blow up the battery but we would have to shut the heat off. It was about -20. Of course they really soaked us for it and I had to call my folks and have them wire some money up. You had to stop at every gas station and get gas so you didn't run out. When you are 19 years old you are bullettproof.

We took them on an old Argus 35mm camera.
My first camera was an Argus C3 Rangefinder. I even had a 300mm telephoto for it. My brother had married a girl whose father owned a camera store. My dad went to him and ask for a decent camera for a 15 year old and that's what he sold him. Cheap azz could have parted with something a little more recent. What I really wanted was a SLR. Wasn't going to happen.

No, an outside executor was appointed at the request of that sister. Under Minnesota law, there's no difference in inheritance rights between siblings and half-siblings. The 6 of them will divvy things up evenly. I know we all tend to look for infighting and drama but it doesn't appear that Prince's siblings are going to provide any.
Wanna bet? ;)

Yeah they were good pics but I couldn't believe that after being in the garages that long with 90+ and -0- degrees they stayed that good. Must be Kodachrome as Paul Simon says about it.
Slide film stands up much better than print negative film. I ran a service bureau doing high end scans when I retired from the Navy. My clients were printers and I made the color separations and did scanning and layout as well. :)

How do you post images on here?
I find the easiest way is post them to my Photobucket account and then post the IMG link using the little chain looking (link) icon. That way I don't have to worry about sizing them. If they are small enough you can usually just drag and drop em into your post box.

No. Me putting money on a favorable outcome would guarantee a bad one. But until Prince's siblings prove otherwise, I can say gee, they're just as sensible as my siblings and I were when my Dad died. Sure, the amount of money is not comparable, but I've seen families go to war over less.

Anyone know why I can't taste the flavor of the vape juice on a 1.2 coil. It's producing, but again, non adjustable. Have I just become used to sub ohm coils from using the edge?
Anything is possible, and I don't discount that you might favor the type of vaping that you've had more experience with. Is it possible for you try the two side by side with the same joose in each?

There are also changes that the taste buds go through. "Vaper's tongue" is what people call it when they go through a period where nothing tastes good.

I hope you can figure out a convenient way to post pictures of your gear and set-up because that makes it so much easier to give better answers.

Regarding your follow-up with the doc, you're in my thoughts and I hope you can take comfort from the fact that worrying won't change anything. Speaking for probably everyone here, your worries are perfectly understandable.

The way I upload pictures is just to drag them into the response box, without using the image icon. Others have suggested that too... it seems too simple to work but it works, unless the file is too large.
