We are safely in Naperville, Il, a western suburb of Chicago. This is part of my childhood stomping grounds - sure has changed in 45-50 years! Driving north we passed so many caravans of tree and electric company trucks heading south I lost count. My Sgt First Class Florida National Guard son's troops are all deployed and on standby for orders on where to report for duty to help.

I just hope people took this seriously because this is one nasty storm that is going to do a LOT of unprecedented damage. Fortunately for us our house is not only far enough west for tropical storm winds and rain only but also on the west side of the storm, which is the "lighter" side.

My Mom has developed that also, h has been living with it for years. Had an Uncle pass a year ago from it, but he lived alone & didn't follow Dr instructions. My mothers youngest sister is in the hospital right now. Cancer, congestive heart failure, alzhiemer's, & sepsis. Dr says she will probably pass any minute.

Mike's Grandmother had congestive heart failure for years, but at least she tried to do what the doc ordered. She lived well into her 90s. Sorry to hear about your aunt. That sure doesn't sound good.

I'm far enough away that I should see minimal damage, but if it swings around and takes a second pass next week, I'm seriously thinking of taking a trip. :)

@Kenna if you haven't watched it yet and have Netflix you need to watch Call the Midwife there are 5 Seasons now and I'm sure you would like it. I just can't believe it takes place in the 60's in England. Seems like things were so different and wonder if they were that way here and I didn't notice it.

I stopped putting salt on my food a few years back except for what is used by the manufacturer. To 100% avoid salt would be near impossible...If that is what she is supposed to do - I feel for her. I used to use salt so much that I would put salt on salt if that was what was on my plate - everything had to have salt on it.

Truth is, I can plod through the Garyanized spellings, or I can look for meaning, but I'm too old to do both.

I keep watching for that too but I know people that live with it for years. So far I'm still good with an EF of 62. Salt free is next to impossible if you eat anything processed well not impossible but as you say not easy. I hope all goes well. And Kenna sorry about your aunt also. I'm not good at saying the right things at these moments.

Wow this season on Call the Midwife they are trying to figure out what is causing all the deformities in the babies. It hasn't struck them yet that the women who had the deformed babies were smokers all through there pregnancy even in the delivery room and the doctor and his wife are smoking while they are trying to figure it out.

In my case, oh so true! I've had several 'discussions' re mixin' test recipes with/without nic in da past.

Moi, I use nic in testing. Why go thru da effort to perfect a Nirvana non-nic recipe only to find out it's no longer within your 'sweet spot' after addin' nic?

Must ask, what is anyone's costliest recipe ingredient? Ummm...
Agreed. I tried no nic just to see what it was like. The flavor was drastically different. It was nasty. That, above all, is the reason I have no intention of going to no nic juice.

With the price of nic nowadays, no question flavorings are the most costly ingredient. Maybe not a couple of years ago before all the specials started. But, now? Certainly.
Glad to hear you requested it. As a patient you have the right to your records and most doctors are goid about giving you one copy free.

Hub and I always get a copy of EVERYTHING anytime we have a doctor visit. Bloodwork results, x-rays on CD, doctor notes, everything.
Times certainly have changed. Doctors used to treat medical records like state secrets. They had the attitude that patients were too dumb to understand them correctly. But, I always thought they just wanted to cover their behinds in case of malpractice.

Now it's as it should be. Medical records belong to the patient.

After my heart surgery, I was told to not eat canned foods because they all have too much salt. I never have added salt to my food. But, no canned foods? Not even simple, plain canned vegetables?

I stuck to that for a few months. That'll have to do.

At least she's trying, I have to fight mine every step of the way. She refuses to use her nebulizer at all.

I've never used much salt. Except when I was pregnant & couldn't taste it, & was craving salty foods. I'd take the lid off the salt shaker & sprinkle it on that way. I could shake for 5 minutes h not get enough out with the lid on. Anchovy pizza! Yum!
