My work in SoCal is going much more smoothly than I expected it would .. to the point of possibly finishing ahead of schedule, which is fine since it's a contract that pays the same .. I'm thinking seriously of renting a Tesla P85D on Friday, heading up to Hollywood for the weekend ..

All favourites artists, tonight, thanks. Safe travels.

Sounds like you're having a good time out there. Good for you! Thanks for the music as always. Enjoy the weather there because it's not so nice back here!

We're loosing our Florida tans!
It's dark and rainy here and has been thundering all day. I planned to take the GS out to buy some tighty whities. He has Spiderman undies but won't wear them because he doesn't want to get him wet. I'm hoping he'll wear the plain ones.
My high school was split like that.
I never had any split classes in grade school, but my junior high was split with girls going to one school and boys going to another. A tragic failure in socializing young people. I left in ninth grade and moved 100 miles north. Their high school had the highest rates of teen pregnancy in the state for four years. Duh.

I spent 3rd grade and 6th grade in the 2 room school house.
From '70 - '72 we lived in Cold Bay, Ak. Total pop. about 150. That was a two room school house too, with 1st. - 6th. grade in one room and 7th. - 12th. in the other. Last Summer, the "Last Student" left Cold Bay and the school was closed down. Cold Bay is an interesting place, arguably the Westernmost town on the North American Continent and the home to one of the longest runways in the world, at over 3 miles. Built in WW 2 to turn the tide of the Aleutian war, it was originally made entirely of steel landing mat but is now completely paved. There was also a large Naval Base & Pier there but somehow the US managed to pass it all off as a "Fishing Village" to the Japanese. In the early 70's all the old Quonset Huts and most of the command buildings were still standing. Some were even repurposed and in use. Exploring all of that history was a better education than I even got in the two room school house. The warehouse at the end of the old pier was filled with messages written at war's end like, "Thank God the war is over! I'm goin' home, never to return to this Godforsaken place!" Check out the book "The Thousand Mile War" if you get the chance. ;)

Not particularly good news from my doc, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I have a good support system between friends and family. We are all just tiny blips in time/space, after all. And for now, things are ok.
Except I forgot to plug in my charger and am now puffing on a super tight cigalike. Bummer....
As others have said, I'm sorry to hear that BUT you DO have our support here as well! :thumb:

Trump died, and I didn't get blamed. Calling all Freuds!
This is a classic case of wanting to bust his balls and have him go away FOREVER. (My "professional opinion" )

Mike said we could go out on the back deck and rust instead.
In Seattle they say, "In Seattle you don't tan, you rust!"

I'm thinking seriously of renting a Tesla P85D on Friday, heading up to Hollywood for the weekend ..
Good to hear something's going right for you, U.W.! I'd like to hear more about the Tesla if you rent one. I'm intrigued and impressed with these cars. Just wish they could get the retail price down some.

First car: '63 Pontiac Bonneville - 4 door - 421 "Tri-Power". What a great "sleeper car", especially on long runs. I'd still like to replace that one with the two door model or a Grand Prix of the same vintage!

First Bike: Honda 300 "Dream" (In Cold Bay no less!) Current bike: '07 H.D. Softail Custom.

Finally a sunny day here and above freezing this a.m. (just barely @ 34 F.) The garden is doing well and the squirrels & moose haven't gotten into it, YET! :sneaky: We're watching it like a hawk!:)

Meet Me in St Louie Louie

I think it's actually been slightly cooler here in San Diego than it has in St. Louis .. not that I'm complaining about mid to high 60's days and 50's at night .. I would, however, have thought it would have been warmer out here this time of the year ..

"Do what you love and the Rest will come .." ;) .. it has always been my personal credo to have as much fun as possible while being fully clothed .. ;) .. another one of the reasons the Odyssey still weighs on me somewhat .. :( .. (I may need to edit this for further clarity .. ;) )

Odda my goodness, a new thread, a new everything here! :)
Catch up???? NOT  I'll just go on from here!

Only one left in the house now, but he's a fixture......Orlando airport at 5:30 this morning, and then bowling, and now, I'm ready for an afternoon nap.
The rest of the crew are staying at a local motel and won't be leaving for another week, but I'll have more time to come in to see what's happening.

My, it feels odd sitting at my desktop and typing.......but being away from the computer has its advantages.

DH told me that there was golf sized hail reported in Bunnell which is about 3 miles from us.....dat not good!

The trip to Orlando was dry, but he ran into rain all the way home. Took 95 past 4, and hit 407 to 528 right into the airport. Glad that trip is over, cause I was starting to worry, but they were home about 8:45.

Ok.....that's all folks!!

Really cool video and fancy flyin' too.

Sounds good but I'm not convinced. I can still see you saying "OK" when they ask you to work the OT, and you KNOW they'll ask! Think of it this way, if it helps: you're actually doing them a favor by refusing, since you're putting a stop to a process which cannot be self-sustaining. Better for YOU to make that decision than for chaos to make that decision.
Hate to see them scrambling to find a replacement for you if you get sick from overwork. @Rotowoman

Rotowoman, thanks for explaining your username. That pic you posted of the yellow chopper looks pretty cool.
That was one of the older SikorskyS76 A++ models that we used to have at our base. They retired that one, and now we have smaller birds.

I took my first helicopter ride ever out at that base on a smaller Bell407. I was like country girl come to town. The first thing the pilot asked me before we went to the helicopter was if I was going to be afraid. My answer, "Hell no. I don't have enough sense to be afraid." I LOVED it! I will do it again any chance I get

This time I will have to turn it down. I'm serious. I'm tired, and I am NOT looking forward to going back to work tomorrow even though my base is not that busy.

I was looking at my pay stubs this morning, and I see that out of seven hitches this year, I've worked over for 5 of them. That was supposed to stop this year. This is a carryover from last year when I worked a hell of a lot of overtime. I NEED a break, and by giminy I'm taking it.

First Car :: Used Rambler .. straight six, neglected to keep the oil topped off which resulted in it's early death .. if cars could talk .. ;)
rambler%201956Rambler-01.jpg

First Bike :: 1958 BSA Gold Star if memory serves, they used to call these "One Lungers" because of the single cylinder .. it had a compression release in order to facilitate the kick start .. no fancy, shmancy electric start back then .. really, really wish I still had it .. a few years ago, I quit motorcycles, I still maintain my license, I guess on the off chance I decide I might still want one .. but the truth is, I ended up just getting so paranoid about other drivers and safety, the last bike I owned had about 400 miles put on it in an entire year ..

Ahh my firts (and only) motorcycle, it was a Hondamitsuharlyhamasaki. It was bodged together by me and my dad out of a honda dirt bike frame and whatever parts we could find. It ran by the grace of god and was legal by the grace of small town networking.

My first car was a 1981 dodge heavy half ton pickup, 318 engine, could out run most hotrods and outpull most tractors. Kept it for 21 years and it still ran when i sold it.
Had a false panel on the dash i could slide off, had ejector seat and warp drive buttons underneath.
Had a cross bed tool box that i modified to cary popup speakers for those pasture parties.
Had many secret compartments in which to conceal questionable materials.
Gun rack
Trailer hitch on both front and back.
Heavy duty springs.
It was a part of my life.

Orlando airport at 5:30 this morning,
You were up as almost as early as I was. Had to releive daddy and get oldest GD off to school. Brought GS back here an d then we went to Walmart. He's in the bathtub playing with his new boat now. Daddy will pick sister up from school and mama took baby to GA. It's not been so bad. He's such a good boy. :)
I NEED a break, and by giminy I'm taking it.
You do!!!! And to have a little fun. Go into NOLA and party a while then have a pedicure and go stick your feet in the sand somewhere and enjoy the sunshine. Get you some Vit D.

Okay, I did a resize on the Moose pics. They aren't the best. We have a "basic" digital camera and the "Big Brother" was right at the bed room window in the first two shots. The "Baby Brother was just trotting off in the last one but there is one good pic of "Big Brother" standing out in the yard where I chased him off to. I hope they load OK this time..............
View attachment 550739 View attachment 550740

The last photo reminds me of the line from the song "Uneasy Rider".
"Headed out the door towards me at a trot!"
The younger (last) Moose is the one that was with "Mom" in the earlier photos. I don't know where he found his "buddy". It may be his brother from last year but that's just a guess.........
Very cool pics! Uncool for your garden, tho.

I'm struggling to keep up here & my 3 or 4 other threads. This is the only one I'm 2 days behind on as of now. Gonna take another day to get caught up. And that's only if these dogs allow it. Keeping 3 satisfied with sufficient cuddle time is a thang.

They will tell you that no one is able to do what you can do. (Which I'm pretty sure is true.) They will tell you that you alone are the difference between success and failure for the whole company. They'll put their hands on a stack of holy books and swear that it's the last time they'll ever ask, but that they NEED you this one more time. And then, they'll beg.

The best way you can help them, when this happens, is to say no. (Maybe you've noticed that I'm still not sold.)

Glad you got a lil OT, was worried maybe your wife had had a rough time. Glad that wasn't the case.......now don't make me come chase you down again Mister!! hehehe

awwwwwwwwwww ;)

newp.......dats a owl silly boy!! [emoji38] looks like it might be a barred owl, but need to see more of it's face to be sure. I used to share a house with some friends who were also Indian and the woman had one in the house. He was NOT a friendly owl

hmmm it worked last night, or actually early thirty this am.......not sure what's up. Seems like if the sale had ended last night it would have done so at midnight

Ok...........Kay just called me........... it was too funny, I was on the phone with Cheyenne and I heard the call waiting beep, thought it was my son, and the call about Kay was more important at the time, so I didn't flip over. Got off the phone and saw two cell phone MI calls, couldn't figure out for a minute why it was showing twice that Cheyenne called and not who had beeped in.......then I realized the numbers were different. Kay had beeped in while I was talking to Chey!!!

Kay said she hadn't talked to her Dr yet, so per Cheyenne, I was able to tell Kay that her surgery had gone wonderfully!!! Yay!!! She said she'd had total peace that it would right from the git go! They doped her up in the little room while she was waiting to go into the OR, and she went to sleep, didn't wake up again til she was in her room..........she made them show her the site to be sure she'd had the surgery!!

Of course, she's been flirting with all the male nurses. No surprise there. We had to get off the phone cuz two women had come in the room.....she said she had to go cuz they were hovering over her........I said uh-oh........she said......nawwww....I can take em!!! lol Jup she's in great spirits, and they're giving her plenty of pain meds!! Was gonna remind her not to let the pain get bad.......but she already had that in mind.........so that's great!! She said she'd call me again later tonite if she feels like it. And she thanks everyone for their prayers, as does Cheyenne. Chey really asked folks to keep her in prayers also. She's young, and is so close to her "Nana" this has really rattled Chey's cage!!! Ok, now gonna go read the other two pages I need to catch up
2 days behind on the thread, but prayers stay caught up!

Well the easiest way I have found to do it is use Google+Photos. I download my photos to another program, I use Picasa then I can look at them on my TV too, and transfer the ones I might want to post to google photos plus any I take with my phone automatically go there. Then when you are looking through them and you see one you want to post you click on it and it enlarges then right click on it and choose "copy image" then in your post when you want to post it just right click at that point and choose paste and it's there in all its glory. Plus using Google+ you can send it to any one you want using any messaging program or email but if they don't use Live Mail they don't get it. Or at least Outlook doesn't haven't checked Gmail
I save pics directly to my laptop & post from there. I also post them straight from my phone or tablet. I don't save anything online.

I'd try to squeeze a raise out of them and maybe doubletime instead of time and a half. Then they would have to put up or shut up.

Hopefully they won't even ask.
