So what you are trying to say is that not only did Mike take one on for his wife, but he took one for the whole team. Probably was thinking of the grand baby when he did it (you know Grandpa's). The man should be praised and rewarded - not many would go that far... Shoot, Mike should get his favorite meal and favorite dessert for a month (at least once) and hugs from his whole family for his valiant sacrifice... :D

I get the feeling that you're trying to atone for Janet's new kitchen...

I think you got it. The heck with the rest of us, he took this one for Miles! Think he'd just about do anything for that little baby!

And don't worry, he'll eat well for a month even if it is in the old kitchen. There was a guy that was supposed to come over last night to talk about the kitchen and Mike called him (before he got to feeling so much worse) that he REALLY didn't want to come here just now. So, we'll just have to wait awhile longer to see about the kitchen. I'm thinking that if I'm going to replace 1 appliance it will definitely be the fridge. Don't know if the cost of replacing cabinets will allow it, but this side-by-side drives me nuts. I want the 2 door opening with the freezer on the bottom. Anybody have any recommendations? Years ago I wouldn't have had to think about it - just get a Whirlpool, but no more, especially given our earlier conversation about tools and what's happened to big headed corporations

Jan, we have one of those double door freezer on bottom monstrosities. I HATE it. It's fridge section is TINY. If you have a freezer there is no reason to get it. Most of it iz freezer. I miss my old regular freezer on top monster. Twice the room for fridge stuff. Every time we open this one we have to take half the stuff out since what we want is behind something else. For me... giant FAIL.

But, of course, YMMV.

Janet's getting a new kitchen!?! Congratulations Janet. We're getting new countertops. Real Estate agent recommended it. Finally doing all the things I wanted to do to the house for years.... So we can sell it!

Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime. I can't wait for summertime!

Yea, doing a whole cabinet replacement can dent a budget. My last kitchen venture I completely redid the cabinets, but did not replace them - rearranged their order, stripped and stained them and added new custom shelving from parts that I stole from another area (that way it all matched). If I had replaced them I would have had to take out a second mortgage with all the other renovating we were doing - I posted a pic of the completed kitchen project a while back - do not know if you remember the pic or not...

As far as the fridge goes - with todays products - I would be scared to recommend one over another - I can say avoid to many bells and whistles if you can - less to break and the electronics go first...

Well, my neighbors came over for a visit to show off their grand kids. Boy - 3 months old. Girl - 3 years old. The girl left me with a cute kid's story to tell...

When she comes in the house - she comes over and taps me on the arm. "Today's my birthday" - "Really today is your birthday" I asked - "Well really it is my practice birthday" she said. "Practice birthday" I asked. "Yep - practice birthday" she said. "When do you get practice birthdays?" I asked. "When I visit Grandma and Grandpa" she said. Every time" I asked. "Yep" she says - then runs off into the next room...

So the key here - Grandmas and Grandpas get to spoil them and then send them back home...

Hi all, thanks for the well wishes. Day #3 and I'm still feeling quite awful but at least i took EMS off my speed dial. Been holding some light food and liquids down consistently today so I'm on the mend - just not fast enough. Yuck! Hard to believe I've slept the better part of the the last 48 hours. The spasms in my gut were so sever I couldn't catch my breath - like someone punching me full force in the gut. That part was scary and actually made me wonder if a trip to the ER was prudent. Anyway looking forward to feeling even better tomorrow. Got to get past this for another planned fishing trip this weekend.

Isn't that always the way? It's pretty common, ask any realtor. We'd always make do or figure we'll get to it later. When we were talking about moving I was cleaning out "stuff" and we painted and got new carpet etc and Mike was saying after we got things fixed up we should just stay here awhile and enjoy it before selling. In that case, I want a new kitchen so I can enjoy it until we move. We already replaced the floor due to an unexpected leak. We'd looked at refacing and getting new counters, but I went into a cabinet and realized the outside would look nice, but I'd still be stuck with the same stupid corner cabinets and I want pull outs instead of cupboards and I REALLY want a pantry so scratch pretty fronts.

Yes, but at least you can fit a turkey in a bottom freezer. 35 years ago we were renting a cottage in the woods and the fridge there had the bottom drawer. I loved it. There's a method to storing things in it because you're right, it's easy to loose stuff on the bottom. Then we moved to our first house and I looked to buy one and was told they don't make them like that anymore. Too expensive. So, we've had different ones since then. This SBS one we have drives me nuts and I can't fit a turkey in the freezer. And I loose stuff that gets pushed in the back of the shelf so I have to empty the whole shelf to get to it. It would be great if we could move the SBS into the garage and have a drawer on the bottom fridge in the kitchen. That would free up space and I could keep my nic in the garage freezer. But, we'll just have to see what the price tag looks like for the cabinets and then decide what to do.

Ah, but I'm talking about losing stuff in the fridge. Tis really about the same room inside as a side by side fridge. aka... none. :) We actually have this monstrosity and two (count em) two freezers in the cellar. One chest, one upright. And... yeah, there'z only two of us! LOL

But for the price of one of those fridges, you can likely buy one fridge AND two freeezerz for the same price.
