I'm looking forward to the "new" ecf. Let's face it. It will either be wonderful or be a pain in the you-know-what. I'll figure it out cause I need this place a lot more than ecf needs me.
Janet & Mike, so glad y'all are feeling better. Nothing worse to have but given the choice. . . a 24 hour one is the 2nd best option.
Have a great afternoon.
Well..... I'm better, but Mike is not. Looks like he's got the 48 hour kind. He's a sick pup. Couldn't even keep sips of water down. I ran out for some Pedialyte and Ginger Ale and spoke to the pharmacist. All she had OTC was children's Dramamine that you chew. So, Mike gave that a try and it seems to be helping. Still hasn't had much to drink except sips of Pedialyte, but maybe he's on the upside. This sickness is really nasty.
If my recollection is correct, Sears actually manufactured their own appliances back in the day. And that would have been our last top loading washer that I repaired until I could no longer get parts for it. Got a good 20 years out of that washer.
Now they outsource everything and manufacture nothing. Including the "Kenmore" most expensive dehumidifier we got - that broke down within 5 months, was repaired under warranty, broke down again one month out of warranty - and ended up on a recall list as a fire hazard - three years later.
At the time of the second failure within 13 months I raised hell with Sears, citing that the thing was obviously a $250.00 lemon, and expecting their former "we stand by our appliances" response. What I got was "Don't care,. Pound salt. You should buy another Kenmore dehumidifier to replace it."
And that was the last appliance we ever bought from Sears.
They lost out on a kitchen remodel, two bathroom remodels, a 'fridge and dishwasher replacement, a front loading washer, two room air conditioners and a freezer. About $5,000.00 worth of business went elsewhere, all over their crappy attitude regarding a crappy $250.00 dehumidifier that was so bad it ended up on a recall list.
Poor customer service will get me out the door, never to return, faster than anything. I get it that individual salespeople can be having a bad day and dealing with the public can be very frustrating, but cranky sales people I can deal with, bad management I won't.
No more packaged yeller rice for moi! Mixed up some homemade last night with jasmine rice and soft chorizo; lip smackin' gooood.
Prep jasime rice with:
-water 50%
-chicken stock 50%
-sesame oil (just a lil')
-tumeric
-cumin
-smoked paprika
Saute in butter:
-onions
-minced garlic
-roasted red peppers
-carrots, medium dice
Then add 'skinned' chorizos (three small links per cup of uncooked rice), break up lumps/chunks and saute till done (do not drain). Dump mixture into cooked rice and mix well.
Am very happy with da yeller rice. Now how 'bout some happy rice...
Iffy, the first thing I thought of was a ...... commercial!! Maybe you shouldn't show them at church! It's really cute though, did you do it yourself?
Janet:
I agree, Janet. Some years ago before she married. our daughter applied for a English teaching job in Japan. Most of the applicants were twenty-something and she was in her thirties. She was not selected and was rather disappointed. Not long after, that terrible tsunami hit Japan and I read that an American teacher was killed there. I kept thinking what a blessing it was that she wasn't there. Sometimes hearing "no" is a good thing.
There you go! See, there was a reason she wasn't supposed to have that job. While Mike was working people were getting laid off left and right. Among some who were very upset there were others who discovered that it was the best thing that ever happened to them because there were opportunities they didn't know where out there for them. And look at the people who didn't show up for work at the World Trade Center on 9/11. It's hard to make sense of sometimes, but it is what it is.
...
... da ECF. Oooohkaaay...
Think I'll just boogie on by...
MY EYES! MY EYES! QUICK, GET ME SOME BLEACH!!
Is anybody beside me watching Dancing with the Stars? Just watched Riker Lynch (Captain Jack Sparrow) and Allison dance. Phenomenal.
Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime. I can't wait for summertime!
I missed the first hour, but tuned in in time to see Riker play Jack Sparrow. It was fantastic! Really enjoyed what I did get to see tonight.
