Roto, sorry for your loss. I't's never easy to have a friend taken and harder when it's stupid. Iost 2 friends in the gulf war to a car wreck and it made no sense to me to make it out of the fighting to die in a truck crash. Trust that the Lord has His plan, and pray for the family left behind. Friends are never really gone as long as we hold them in our hearts. Light a candle and always keep Her memory with you and not the manner of Her passing.

Ok............here's the link to a vid chat "room" we can use........just bookmark it if ya want, and we can use it anytime.

Bookmarked - is there a dress code if I decide to use the video. Are jammies acceptable evening garb?

I wasn't sure if I should subscribe as I won't be 65 until September. Hence the lurking comment.

You only gotta be older than yesterday to come hang on the porch. That be the only age requirement.

I say that because the end of this work hitch was really difficult for me. Before I got this job that I have now, I used to drive nights delivering parts for the helicopters. Tuesday afternoon, I got a HUGE shock. I'm still friends with all the drivers that I used to work with. Shucks, I see them every week since they deliver parts to my base. Tuesday afternoon, I got a phone call that one of the drivers had been killed in an accident while returning home from Galveston. She was the sweetest lady ever. She never had a bad word to say about anybody.

Some jerk was driving in the total opposite lane over this huge bridge that spans the Houston ship channel. I know the area well. I've driven it hundreds of times. You can't see diddly until you get to the top of the bridge. She gets to the top of the bridge, and there he is. She tried to avoid, but it was a head on collision. BAM, she's gone. I had a major melt down over it Tuesay night. I worked with this woman. She was a doll.

Sorry y'all. I'm not trying to be a downer. Just hurt, frustrated, mad and sad.

aww geez Roto - so sorry to hear this. Hugs to you along w/ prayers and for you and her family.

Listened to you folks I did - been sucking this down all day. Who knew I'd even like the taste of it. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the listening ear, friends and the support. It is much appreciated. I was bracing to attend services, but I was told last night that she will be cremated. Her body has not yet been released, as she was an organ donor. Typical for her...she was a giving type person.

I'm at that age where I've rather learned to make peace with death after the initial shock. I had a conversation with her out loud this morning and told her what a joy it was knowing her and that she was a class act. Then I asked the good Lord to envelop her family with love and comfort. It's the only way I know how to deal.

Wow - it was that recent? Sadz for you. :(

Boomer,
Supposedly the limit is 55 or older but we have plenty of younger too. Nobody is checking ID cards around here.

OK! It's hot outside, humid too... Maybe I can wait for summertime!

Nah Boomer, that 55 age thing was just a way to show a different segment of the vaping public. Plus we needed some kind of title for the thread. Heck, I've known much younger people who are way older than me! Of course that works in reverse too... No limits imposed and all are welcome! If you can find us you can grab a seat.

Roto, I do that all the time, especially at special events in our family or when I'm just being emotional. I find it to be very comforting. I'm glad that works for you too.

Jup as everyone else said, no requirements age wise.

Bookmarked - is there a dress code if I decide to use the video. Are jammies acceptable evening garb?

absolutely!!! I don't do a vid cam, but I have a microphone. I'm in the room now if anyone wants to come in. Will keep it open for awhile.

((((((((Roto)))))))) I'm so sorry sweetie. Jup I used to live in Galveston and have been on that bridge many times. Been probably 25-30 years since I've been there.

No problem boomer! Just don't squish me ;) (I am not very big). pull up a chair, sit on the floor! And as already stated, no one checks IDs and we do have a few young 'uns that check in from time to time (now would be a good time for Cavenerd to pop in...). Where is that young whipper snapper anyway? Just because he is busy with work...
The Nerd is apparently participating in Naval exercises and is on site for 24hrs instead of work/home like a 8 to 5 job he usually has. It's the price us Navy pukes pay for so called shore billets that count as sea duty. I believe if I know what he's doing that that's the kind of job he has. I have been on the other other side of the exercises (shipboard) and know what it's like. I am in touch with him occasionally and he will be back as soon as he can.

OK! It's hot outside, humid too... Maybe I can wait for summertime!

Yes, I did not mean to sound disrespectful, I appreciate all he does in service for us. Being a military mother I especially appreciate it! And that includes all of you that serve(ed), past and present.

Deb that's cool. I've never used Hangouts before. I clicked on the link a few times with no one on so when you where there it surprised me. We're watching TV and I didn't want to interfere with Doree's viewing. Girl you need a camera!

Everybody. After my quick visit with Deb I think we need to schedule a time when we can all get together for a virtual cocktail together. What say an evening (tomorrow night early) or maybe Saturday afternoon. I used my tablet and it worked fine so high end computers are not required. What say you?

This sounds terrible but, we don't care and you really don't have to tell her. I wouldn't. This really might be a case of hang a sheet up behind you and what she doesn't know definately really won't hurt her. Notice I didn't shave and get gussied up when I blurted and ran at you.
