Sad in a way but I guess everything changes. I wasn't around when the porch thread started out. ECF has changed. When I first got on here I went to New Members. I knew nothing and asked questions, most of the new members were like me. Now I go there and a lot of the new members are asking whether some advanced tank will work with their 200W mod.

I sometimes wander round the earliest stuff on ECF. I read through the first discussions about making juice and they were fascinating. Wish I had been around then. The political threads got quite ugly and combative after the regulation process got started, I don't even read there any more.

Have to take it as it is though. Can't spend to much time pining after the good old days. They're gone.

I do understand. I joined in 2009 when the big talk was aquarium filter foam or teabags? Every time I took a few months away, I'd come back and there was new stuff that worked great. It just kept on like that. I do stick around for the politics because I believe in Vaping and Vapers. My vaping products work well, and I can't seem for the life of me see what a 200 watt mod is needed for. They'll blow their face off and the media will make it seem like vaping is dangerous for everyone.

There are still a lot of "older" members and just focus on them. Be here for support. Be here and hand with the veterans here. The youngsters will eventually grow up and vape normally, hahaha.

I am confused & will look around for another board as to not trample this one.

no need for that. We do need to keep this porch pretty much on vaping subjects, and the back porch is for talking about anything. That's pretty much all yiddle's post was about, please don't take it that you need to leave because it's merged into something it wasn't intended to be. Even the mods sometimes get off topic with us. We did let it carry on a bit long this time without reigning it in like we usually do. @kross8 just wanna make sure you see this

I don't go to the new member page anymore. Seems like I have nothing to offer them anymore.
They just don't seem to be all that interested in my 'carto tanks', 306 & 510 atties, or my little A7 RDAs. (or my single battery mods)

I do seem to wander off topic though, no matter what page I'm on.

When it first happened to me I only had a couple of batteries. I didn't want to waste a battery so I put it in the charger. It went up from 2.2 to around 3.2 in just a few minutes then charged the rest of the way up normally. I kept on using it without any apparent problems. Maybe I shouldn't do that.

Some chargers do have the capability of bringing back an over-discharged battery - I'd guess yours does. (The manual on my primary charger - of COURSE I have backup chargers!) says it can, although so far I've not had a need to test it ;) ) So if it brought it back up to full voltage, probably ok.

I am confused & will look around for another board as to not trample this one.

@kross8 , Deb's nailed this. Our back porch is the place for the bulk of non-vape chat, we just have to (try) keep the front porch primarily vape related. Back porch is more free-wheeling, so join in over there!

In a mech, there's nothing to "turn off" the output when the battery voltage goes low. In regulated mods, there is circuitry that will prevent firing if the input voltage (battery) gets below a preset value, typically 3.2 - 3.4.

While I don't have any dual battery mods, if they were married in one and a battery drained below recharge value, I'd suspect some issue with the mod. Poor battery connection, maybe.

Dual battery mod users, a little help here? ;)

    :nun:
Thanks, and thank you, @englishmick. If they were in a regulated, it would have been a Sigelei; that's the only regulated mod I have in SC. Mostly, I use it as an ohm reader and to dry burn coils :)

David, I don't quite get how a battery would drain to nada in a mech if it isn't being fired. What am I missing? (Foggy bird brain here, this morning!)

Have mechs. Don't use them. They're emergency backups. Period. Some have such a soft button, blowing on them will fire. So if you inadvertantly lay them down on the button... they won't shut off. Poof!
Whearas a regulated will cut off after 10 or 20 seconds even if they have a soft button. Not to mention their flavor doesn't change with the amount of charge in the battery.

Yup! All of these things are true. :)

I use mechs, almost exclusively. ;)

Worked with/around batteries all my adult life, and there are lots of ways to make a battery go dead.
Set a car battery on a cement floor instead of a block of wood = dead in a month.
DIRT on the battery case is a path to ground.
Moisture is a path to ground (think about a bit of condensation inside your mod)
You can add to this list ad-infinitum if you wish.

    add:
Just like every thing else, there's a learning curve to understanding what's going on with a mechanical. Once a person understands, they're a damn nice vape.
The nice part about a mechanical is their longevity, the mod I use most is almost 7 years old, and still looks & works like new (but I do wish they would make a 3'000 mAh 14500)

I may have insight. Several weeks ago, I recharged one of my incredibly cheap yellow batteries. Several days later, I put it in a kicked nemmy, and couldn't get anything out of it. Put it in my charger and it registered 00000.

This morning, one of my nemmys was getting really puny, so I put the battery in the charger. Was low. Put in a fresh yellow battery, nothing. Decided to work on the threads (one of my coppers). Got out my dremel, and polished them up good. Put some conductive lubricant on them. Reassembled it. Nothing. Moved the kick and KF to my other copper nemmy. Fine. Checked the battery. 0000000000000000000, in case you couldn't predict it.

Sum-- bad batteries. Counterfeit, most likely.

By the way, I had to turn the kick down after that hour at the spa-- hitting real hard.

I need advice. The hurricane knocked our electricity out yesterday at 3:30pm. Still out. We put a coupler big bags if ice in the freezer and the ice is still frozen but foods are now somewhat soft. I'm not too concerned about them - they are veggies and fruit. What I'm starting to worry about is my nic. It is totally surrounded by all the ice & semi-frozen food but what do I do if we dont get power back soon? No one on my street had power but one street over they do. Would it be better to go get another bag of ice and put it & the nic in a cooler or leave it in the freezer? And for how long?

Your nic is fine. Nic can be fine for a year in a cool place, doesn't HAVE to be frozen.

So sorry y'alls power is out. But your nic should be fine. Nic doesn't actually freeze anyhow. Hope your power comes back on soon though!

Of course you're all right. I know nic doesn't actually freeze…if i think about it. But I'm so frazzled from the last 24 hours. I just needed some sane, calm porchers to remind me. Thanks guys.

Hang in there. Storms always pass .... that's the nature of storms.

We are grateful to have got out before the storm, and are blessed to have a primary home to go to. Sadly, for many people, that will not have been the case.

    Glad ya'll got out safely!
