hey folks, would appreciate some input. I am a MTL all the way. I make micro coils at .o7 ohms or thereabouts and use Ready X wick in 18mm attys. To you cotton users, how long does the cotton last before you have to re wick when using flavored and non flavored juice? Thanks for your help.
Hi -

Apologies for barging in like this - I tend to pounce when someone mentions unflavoured liquid!

I have little experience of rebuilding, but I've not had to rewick my rta since setting it up a couple of months ago. I use unflavoured liquid at low power (mtl) and typically get weeks (and weeks) of fairly decent vaping. Same for my drop-in coils. Wish I kept track of how many mls of liquid I'm using, but - well - best intentions and all that. I tend to change coils when nudged by guilt or boredom, and it can be after a couple of months. Even diluting your normal liquid should help longevity.

Oh and @2legsshrt - I see the VT75D here (if you're OK with silver).

Thanks.

It’s nice to know other people enjoy unflavored. I DIY my juices, but also have unflavored in my rotation. Oddly to me, unflavored is hardly flavorless. I find it light and a touch sweet

I can't say that I am a cotton user, as I suspect that the factory coils I use are wicked with some unburnable synthetic. However, with my unflavored juice (65 mg/ml in a 68/32 PG/VG base) my coils and wicks last anywhere from six months to a year. The wick-killer is letting the tank run dry which chars the juice and clogs the wick. In a year, I run about 480 ml of juice through three tanks, so an average of about 80 to 160 ml of juice per atomizer life. I suspect the shorter lives are in my tank on a non-TC mod which can overheat if the tank runs dry; the TC mods won't char the juice, even if (when) I might let a tank run dry.

Ha! Thanks for that. Seems like a great thread, although it's already lead me astray - I hadn't thought to visit 'the lounge' until someone round here mentioned it!

OK, my friends, I have the KangerTech K1. I am getting away from TC however, I am using my SS coils in the K5s. I am having a hard time getting the K1 in power mode. I have tried using eScribe and just can't get it out of TC mode.
The other thing, I am looking for another tank. There is nothing wrong with the K5s I really love them. What I am wanting to do is look at other tanks before I have to replace them. I am not the friendliest person when it comes to my mods and tanks. I am constantly dropping/knocking over and I really don't know how long my stock of spare glass will last. Does anyone have a recommendation that is similar to the K5s. I am looking for an RTA style single coil. Thanks.

What happens when you do the 5 clicks to lock then hold plus and minus? Do you get the temp adjust menu and can you set it to 'off'? The DNA75 mod interface is awkward enough that I seem to stick to one mode most of the time.

I know the KF Prime has a metal tank (as an option?) that might help with robustness, but I guess you'd need TC back for that?

Or go for cheap (ie don't care if you break it) - something like a Doggystyle clone? The SXK is good for tighter MTL, while the SJMY version is supposedly looser. Both are on Fasttech.

Sorry - a bit out of my depth here, tbh.

Thanks! That was what I was needing. I am now in power mode and locked in at 20 Watts. I could not find the owners manual and knew it was possible. Thank you, again.

I am not too sure about a metal tank. I can foresee loads of burnt cotton. I know myself and sometimes have problems with the juice getting low and not realizing it even with the glass.

Nevermind I read a little further and you got it. I don't think the metal tank is any different then the glass just that you can't see how much juice you have which is not a good idea if you are in power mode or happen to like burnt wicks. In TC it makes no diff if you run out of juice it will just stop firing eventually but first you'll be getting less and less vapor. Myself I see the metal tank as useless unless you break your glass one and have no replacement, they use the same tank as the K5 if you have the extension kit installed. That's the route I went, 2ml was just not enough for me.

The Coppervape Skyline might also be worth a look, also FT. And they have both glass and PC replacements on FT as well. :)

I'll second trying a Skyline. Juice control, 2 ways to control air flow, top fill, big deck, 4 or 5 ml capacity and the best MTL topper I have for flavor. I like it much more than my KF prime.

I broke the glass on my first one before I ever used it. Ordered 10 spares and only have used the one that replaced the original...I'm thinking it had a microcrack or something.

Highly recommended!

David .. how does the size and 'draw' of the Coppervape Skyline compare to a KFL-Lite. Janet still likes and uses the 'Lites' but is getting a bit tired of needing a screw driver to refill the tank.

I'm been considering one of the Doggy Style and now I've seen you recommend this one again. Also, at FT it comes with 2 airflow inserts but additional ones are sold separately. To get a draw similar to the KFL-Lite would I need to purchase the optional kit of airflow inserts?

---------------------

Anyone have both a Doggy Style and Skyline for comparison of likes/dislikes of 'em?

I don't have a Skyline, but I have several Doggies and just love them. Very easy to build, easy to fill, and also easy to control the airflow. I do find I sometimes get a gurgle after refilling, but a simple paper towel or tissue over the air flow hole and a slight blow out clears it all up.

Thanks @clnire ... did you get any specific one and where?
