Yikes! Maybe 'you' (the generic you, not you bigs) need license to carry a mech mod? And require training classes before issuing the license. That guy skirted disaster.
I couldn't read past the first few posts. How did it turn out?

Problems other than the fact that a 510 positive pin can dimple the top of a battery and cause a hard short?

That's only if the topper 510 pin sticks past the collar. If it doesn't the short is immediate...

Nope, not a hybrid fan, either!

BTW Ifstah, I got you a bottle of Happy Jack Mange Medicine for Christmas, it's in the mail.
What a coincidence, I got ya sum Shrimp Phlavor Phamingo Pheather Phertilizer!

As fer dat mal-mech mod, he avoided a costly incident! Sub-ohm is not fer uneducated vaping neophytes.

Not quite immediate, in either case you still have to push the switch.

Then *boom*
Unless you are like the one poster who said they had put fingernail polish on their torn battery wrapper and the battery exploded in a mech and wondered why....

Thanks, Boden. Bookmarked, and will order. This might sound like a stupid question, but if there's a little nick in the wrapping, should I recover it? (Not to worry. I'm not using that battery.)
Mine is so tiny, I was told to just tape it. I don't use mechs, tho.

In general, Yes.

At 10 cent a wrap it's not worth the risk.

In many regulated mods a torn wrapper is not a big issue. However in a tube mech mod if the case of the battery contacts the inside of the tube it is just like hitting the fire button but it will not turn off.

Thank you. I'll re-wrap the battery. I'm only using regulated mods these days, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.

I get some juices in child proof thingies. Don't really have a problem with them except finding them a PITA. On the other hand it's not something I would fight. Gotta protect the kids.

Am I the only one that had massive problems on ECF today? It took five hours for me to log in. It would work, I'd try to log in, it wouldn't work. Try refreshing the site, it worked, try to log in, it'd time out. No, I didn't try five hours straight, but I was persistent since any other site I tried worked. Took me over an hour to get logged on, do the likes, gather quotes, load a picture and then it wouldn't post. Spun its wheel twice without anything happening. Quit and cleaned the cache. Later I saw it posted my post more than 45 minutes after I tried to post it, when I was off line. :w00t:  Anyone else?

The bullet mod definately wasn't invented by Fasttech. I've seen it before and you know Fasttech doesn't invent anything, just a reseller. The theme is different, poorly timed naturally but, appeals to gun nuts. Now the engineering on the other hand is terrible. I had never heard of a problem with direct battery contact to the atomizer being a problem and if anyone can explain why I'm definately curious. You would think that it would actually be a good design what with the removal of parts that just introduce additional resistance and voltage drop.
I have a empty M16 round on my Keychain as a reminder of my past and my nephew in law has a patch business that sell em and he says they're one of his best seller. He sells patches online and at biker events such as bike week in Daytona and at Sturgis. Makes well into the mid 6 figures. Go figure. www.thecheapplace.com I think is the Web address if anyone is curious. He's originally from Turkey and is married to my brother's kid. Nice guy. They've been married for years.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with someone having a bullet on their key ring, mantel, whatever. I have a ton--well, maybe half a ton--of live ammo I've picked up in the forest that were dropped by idiot target shooters and hunters. Yes, there are many more responsible ones but have you ever tried to put out a wildfire on thousands of squares acres of military live-fire range? I have, not fun. That's why I've picked it up and don't know where to get rid of it. (It is fun to disassemble them, remove the gunpowder and light a bunch of it off. :D)

You guys did get the gist of my point. Did you notice the part that said "Bottom spring-loaded magnetic firing button, without locking ring"? There have been several threads by people that didn't realize the locking ring wasn't engaged, set it down and it went into thermal runaway. I don't want FDA regulations but when are companies going to learn? Do you want to sit next to this guy who put that mod in his checked baggage on a plane?
It matters when you don't know how to work it. Mech mod not firing properly
I read the thread and typical response at first. You guys aren't helping, you're being mean, etc. At least he seemed to get it at the end. Scary stuff, so glad he didn't hurt himself or someone else. Thank you you guys and ECF! :)
