Give yourself more credit. As others have said, YouTube is your friend when it comes to building coils. There are many videos available, some really good and then some that make me wonder how people get through life. The SMY I got is Temp Control and can only be used with Ni200 coils. I still haven't ventured into building TC coils, however, I have the proper wire for doing it. I guess I am lazy, I prefer ready made coils while I can afford them. Another thing I like about the SMY mod, it has a clock built in it. I haven't worn a watch in over two years as I always have my cellphone with me. The only thing is that I have to pull it out of my pocket when I want to know the time. However, with the SMY I have it in my hand the majority of the time so it is easy to see what time it is. Yeap, I'm lazy. LOL

I have always been a fan of Charlie Brown. I saw a commercial last night that showed a new Charlie Brown movie coming out. Oh yea, I will be going to see it. I don't like going to a theatre to watch a movie. The last time I was in a theatre was on a business trip to Logan, UT. I went with a couple other trainers and we watched The Village. Before that, the other time was when Clint Eastwood came out with Unforgiven. I will have to see if I want to go to the theater again. I might check out the new Imax version of the movie.

Diver, thank you so much. It's been a horrible day. Comcast has been ripping our building apart now for over two weeks and they gave us no warning that we would have no internet until late afternoon. My husband has a client in New England who needed legal advice and there was no way to reach this guy. We were worried he would leap off a building.

:danger: People in Colorado Are Crazy!!! Stay OUT of Movie Theaters!!!

We don't go into movie theaters after the shooting out here in Aurora. It's a really unusual place to live. It's dangerous. I feel safer in NYC on the subway, I really do. No one reads anything, everyone is racist, they hate transplants, they hate educated people of either sex, and it's a giant REI store!!!

 I want to leap off a building!!!!!!!!!! The only theaters we dare go into are art houses and they are always empty!!!! It's a weird state. Beautiful, but scary. If I didn't have a sense of humor, I'd crack! I can't stop watching Emma Thompson in Stranger Than Fiction. Will Ferrell is great in it too.

The Charlie Brown movie has me a little worried. We are trying to find out who wrote it and who has control of his estate. As long as it is something Schultz would have approved of and been happy with, then we will try to find a safe place to see it. People carry guns in plain sight here. Makes me nervous. But yet they legalized pot out here. So we have people with road rage who carry guns and are really, really high and want to kill you!!! And they drive twenty miles an hour! REALLY THEY DO!!!
   We really know how to choose the right places to live!!! If they drove this slowly in Boston or NY, even New England generally, they would be killed causing a ten car pileup!

Thanks for giving me a starting point. I am always using Youtube! Should be fun ... I hope I grasp it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have more questions than answers. I hope I can figure this stuff out. THANKS!!! REALLY!!! If I have a nervous breakdown, I'll write from the nuthatch!!! -just kidding ... I think :) P.S. What is an SMY?

Maybe a quick scan of the first 3 stickies here: New Members Information by Rolygate will help with the current state of names

Then some decisions. If you decide to go replaceable battery, what's more comfortable for you to hold, a tube or a box?

If you decide to go rebuildable, there are types that can also use factory heads, like the Kanger Subtank. So you could use premades while exploring building coils. (And many of the premades can also be rebuilt by the user.... many of us do that as well, to cut costs.) And for FDA-proofing, being able to rebuild your topper is vital!

Getting a mechanical (or 2) in the vapacalypse box is good insurance - I have 3 - but my usual vape is regulated. I like to be able to change the quality of the vape as needed and on the fly. Can't do that with a mech, but with a mech, it's just a container for the battery, a fitting for the topper and a switch. Not much to go wrong. Ever.

Thank you!!! All of this will help! My husband is really bright, but he hates technology, and I think it's going to be very funny seeing both of us exploring this stuff!!! We are writers of insane material, so this is a whole different world for us!!! Cool! I hope we don't wind up in marriage counseling or divorce court!!!!!!!!!!:lol::lol:!!!!!!!!!!!!! (-kidding-)

Welcome to the Porch, vaporgrl! Pull up a rocker, and make yourself at home. And, if you feel up to it, tell us your story. We love a good story!

Like others have said, PG, VG, flavorings, wire, and batteries should still be available. Although I'm not sure about tobacco flavorings since I doubt those are used in baking. As long as you have mods with replaceable batteries, rebuildable atomizers, and nic (for those that use it), you should be fine. That and be sure that a couple of your mods are mechanical so you have something to fall back on if everything else breaks.

I've learned most of what I know here, so others will have to post links for you to study in your down time. When I want to learn how to do something and don't see the info on ECF, I eventually remember to just google it or search on youtube.

The gear that you're using now is perfectly good, but not sustainable if the SHTF. You can always stock up on what you're using. But, the replaceable battery mods and RBAs should still be looked into and stashed just in case they become necessary. For all we know, nothing will be outlawed, just the prices shoot through the roof. No one knows for sure.

I'm still tempted to buy a few more. I wonder how many Kayfuns would be a lifetime supply.

I love math! Math is beautiful!
Thanks for the advice, but may I ask you a question? What do you mean about replaceable batteries? I just have five batteries that I recharge. I am not sure I follow, which makes me wonder how I ever got to where I am! Are there batteries that I would just go out and buy? Ohhh, my head!!!

Replaceable batteries: Yes, there are a lot of vaporizors/mods/PVs (whatever) that use rechargeable / replaceable Lion-Ion batteries. You take them out of the PV and put them in a charger to re-charge. After about 300-350 recharges you buy a new one. Like these:

This makes sense to even me!!! It should to my husband, too! I think I am coming around a bit more now. Now all I have to do is find out what type of case/mod or PV to purchase? They just slip inside after your old battery has died after a few years? This makes sense. Thanks!!!

Much prefer the Lion-Ion but they are called Li-ion, short for lithium-ion. Great typo! :D

Internet crashed today, third day in a row. :grr: You guys have been very busy again, I'll have to catch up later.

When was the last time you considered upping your nic off 0mg?

New CDC Data Suggest E-Cigarettes Are Helping Smokers Quit
The same survey finds that never-smokers rarely become regular vapers.
Nice to see some truth out there. Haven't read it yet, but I will, and thanks for the other petition!

Why is it I always come back to ECF in time for a FDA crises that sets off my panic attacks? I am cursed!

Well given some reading I have been doing all day today I think my plans on what to buy today has changed slightly. With the FDA from hades impending even closer I decided to go for quality. I will be getting a 2nd provari(known durability) + a Kanger subtank mini ordered tomorrow. Then if I like that tank I will be picking 3-4 more. I have a good supply of mechs and rdas so I am not so worried about that. Also planning on another liter of nic for the freezer. At that point I am set I think.

If things go down the way folks think it will. I wont be vaping in public (or driving) anyway. The real important thing to me is being able to continue vaping.

This is scary stuff folks. BTW Dimitri is going to be talking about all this stuff(the FDA) with Bill Godshall tonight on VPLive.

Diver, thank you so much. P.S. What is an SMY?
You are very welcome. From a person that carried a firearm for years, professionally, I wouldn't worry about the one's you can see. I was always more concerned about the one you can't see. Oklahoma recently passed an open carry law and now everyone that has a concealed carry permit is pushing their "rights". Oh well, to each their own.
As far as SMY, they are a manufacturer of e-cigarette mods. The one I have, the SMY 60 Watt Temperature Control mod has replaceable batteries. The other types of mods have non-replaceable batteries. They are a sealed unit and the batteries can not be taken out and replaced. After 300 - 350 or so recharges (I hope they last that long) you dispose of them. Any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hey Y'all. I have been terrible remiss in welcoming new members to the porch. Sorry about that.......I don't get on this side much because the more technical aspects of vaping give me a headache. ;)

I did want to tell y'all that I took my first leap into DIY yesterday. Now, PLEASE don't ask me what I made because I can't tell you. I just know I put some strawberry in there, some carmel, and some vanilla. I used ejuice me up so I could have 30mg of nicotine. Yeah, I'm a hard case. Now, I can't tell you what it tastes like because I haven't tasted it yet. I just put it to sleep...........I mean....steep. :D

I know I made a mess. I know I have to rethink some things, and I know I need more flavors. (Heavy sigh) I don't want to get technical. I just want to vape as inexpensively as possible. I still have a rag in the kitchen that smells delightfully strawberry. :p

wahooooooo!! that's great hun........can't wait til ya taste it. You shouldn't need to steep it long, maybe a day or two with the caramel, aside from that it would probably be shake and vape, or just let it settle for a day.

I am going to order one! This is great! It explains what other people may have just taken for granted that everyone should know! Well, I guess they haven't met me (or even imagined me)!!!!!!!!!!!! The actual company name is SMY? I'll order the one you have -- the SMY 60 Watt Temp Control! This is so helpful! Thanks again! So, SMY is an actual store that I can find here the same way I found Vape4life? I'll find them! This should be very, very good for me. I actually quit for two years using those horrible little batteries that had to be charged every hour! That is how badly I wanted to quit so that I could get off oxygen and improve my cardiac health. I have three stents and one artery that can't be stented and my cardiologist has been worried I might need a bypass in the future, I have been very ill. I laugh all the time, but in all seriousness, living with multiple genetic and neurological disorders is a daily challenge and I use humor to get through the day!!! I dare not vape nicotine because my BP is sky-high. I'm lucky I am here after so much heart damage, but even a heart attack could not take the best part of my human heart. :)
