@Kaezziel and @MikeE3, I have an appointment and won't be back for awhile. Would either/both of you have the time to find starter kits for vape? (as outlined, above) from a vendor who ships to AUS?

Here's a combination to consider. We have the iStick 40 and nautilus tanks (both full size & mini). These are not our primary setups. These are decent setups and provide a nice vape, etc. There may be better but I only want to list what we've used and are familiar with. This mod is TC capable ... but I've never used it in TC mode just VW (variable wattage).

These show in stock from an Australian vendor

iSmoka Eleaf iStick 40 Watts Mod (Temperature Control Compatible) iStick 40 A$49

Aspire Nautilus BVC Tank Clearomizer full size Nautilus A$35

Aspire Nautilus Mini BVC Tank Clearomizer Nautilus Mini A$30

Aspire Nautilus BVC Replacement Coils Pack of Five replacement coils 1.8Ω A$20 for a 5 pack

The Australian prices are higher than what we're paying in the US but the prices at Wick & Wire seem reasonable and inline w/ other Aussie vendors. I tried to find 1 vendor with all the products in stock to avoid multiple shipping costs from multiple vendors.

If interested I can post pictures w/ the full size and mini size atty attached to the iStick. Don't have time now to do it.

I'm back, can't make a lick of sense out of the machines that have settings. I don't understand basic electrical info enough. If I got a vw machine, how in the world do I know what coils, tanks, settings to use?

Have any lights in your house that are on a dimmer? That's really all the basic electrical info you need for basic vaping. The higher you raise the dimmer switch (or rotate it, depending on design), the brighter the light. So if your mod is VV - Variable Voltage - this is a direct comparison, the higher you raise the voltage, the hotter the coil gets.

With VW - Variable Wattage - think of it more as a 3-way lamp. Each setting increases the watts and increases the light.

Any coil between say 1.5 and 2 ohms (marked either on the coil or the box) will work fine with most mods. (All mods will have a range at which they're designed to work - too low or too high a coil resistance and they won't fire.)

I gave her a source & a mod & tank & coil suggestion from MFS. They ship to Australia. Itaste 50 , Subtank Mini, 2 resistances of coils (.5 to see if subbing is good for her, & 1.5 if not). She can get coils for those online or in a vape shop anywhere. All she has to do is order. She is too new to understand 90% of this & getting stuck because TMI at once is confusing her. I went through that. Just stop.

Will this one also go into just volt mode, or show both watts and volts on the screen? Not a huge deal if it doesn't but might be helpful to her

Don't have to know what to set it at. Taste buds figger that out automatically. ;) Too low, weak flavor. Too high, awful flavor.
There is no such thing as a "perfect" or "recommended" setting for all. Taste buds vary.

^^^ what Gary said! I think Vape? is making it more complicated than it really is. Easy to do as a beginner. There is no "perfect setting". Too many variables.

true, but she's nervous about where to start and starting in the wrong place.....
@Vape? Most of the regulated mods these days will protect you from it. they read the ohm coil you put in, and if you set it too low or too high for safety, they won't fire. Most of them that is.

Yup. Been doin this for over 2 years. The beginning drove me nuts. (ok, nuttser) I'm perfectly content running an average of 7 to 9 watts. Really depends on the mod and the tank and the juice. I rarely go above (or below) that. Works for me.
Yes I have some 40, 50, 60 watt mods. Still stuck on 7 to 9 watts.

Now some say you gotta get a 5000 watt mod and blast it. Well, not for me. Maybe sometime in the future but I'm perfectly content where I'm at.

I do the same thing. I like the mods that are capable of blasting watts or volts, but I don't use them to blast, so the batteries last a long time before needing to swap or recharge. I like a 1.3 to 1.5 ohm coil at about 13.5 - 14 watts. That gives me the flavor & vapor I want. I like sweeter juices. Higher watts than that fry my juices & they start tasting bad. Plus it doesn't use up the juice so fast. It's a warmish vape just like a cig is warmish. I can chain vape a bit with 50/50 pg/vg ratio & no dry hits.

Our vaping 'likes' are similar ... I use 1.5-1.6Ω coils ... set it for 14 watts ... 50/50 pg/vg ... 12 mg/nic ...w/ fruit flavors.

Jup, very close to me. fruit flavors, net 1.3 dual coils, full batt about 13 watts, down to bout 11 watts when time to change, but I'm 24 mg nic and 70ish pg love it

I knew starting out, that I needed to keep it simple & as bullet proof as possible in the beginning, & progress a step at a time from there. I had to cut out any videos & forum threads that talked about building coils, mech mods, removeable batteries & all the math. I was just like @Vape? Completely alone in this & no one to talk to. I knew, from lurking on the Newbie forum here, that I needed a reulated vv/vw mod because of all the built in protections. I had egos already, but they were fixed volts & the batts didn't last long enough for me to feel like I could go somewhere & not run out of batteries before I could recharge them. I had 3 ego batts & the little cartomizers. I wanted longer battery life (not carrying a purse full of egos & juice) & more juice capacity so I could grab a mod & tank full of juice & go all day & just be able to vape the whole time. Lurking I learned about the MVP 2.0 & Nautilus tanks & their hollowed out (break proof) tank option. 18 months ago those were both new on the market, & new developments in vaping devices & they were what I kept seeing recommended for beginners looking to step up from egos. I went to You Tube & watched videos about them. They were what I was wanting. Got 3 MVP's, & 2 Nautilus full sized & a month later 2 Nautilus Mini's when they came out. They were perfect to get started with. I was watching a lot of Indoor Smokers videos at the time because he vapes simple & doesn't rebuild. In between his clown act he does give good info. I also watched a lot of Phil Busardo, too, because he goes into such good detail & shows you what he's talking about. Also Rip Trippers who also, in between his clown act, also gives good info & explains things & shows you what he's talking about. Critisize them & their styles all you want, but in all fairness they all do a good job of teaching about basic, simple vaping. They aren't stuck on the stupid cloud with nothing but subohm. Rip & Busardo both prefer single coil builds when using rebuildables, & get their cloud fix from using higher vg juices & bigger airflow. The the MVP & Nauti set up I started with are comparable to the Set up I've recommended for @Vape? It also gives her some room to grow, & play some AS SHE IS READY. There shouldn't be any talk of coil building, recharging batteries, ohms law, etc yet . She's drowning in information & mentioning all that is just making it worse. She is using a bad device. She needs a good, safe set up that will give her the vape she enjoys & she needs to stay away from subohming for now. It's over her head, she's not there yet. She needs a set up now. Not 5 weeks FastTech someday slow. Looking at FastTech will just make her confusion worse.

Sorry. She's confused enough & all this is making it worse. I can't tell if she's reading all the posts or just what she's tagged in. She needs a basic, simple starting point. Not talk about TC, etc.
Mikes suggestion is great, but I don't think a Nautilus will give her the airy draw she's asked for. An STM would give her that.

Well said. I am trying to help another person getting started with vaping right now. I sold him a Hana Clone mod that I stuck a authentic DNA40 in for a good price then we ordered a Innokin Isub tank that we are still waiting on. In the mean time he is using on of my Kayfuns. Keeps complaining its burning but he keeps turning the power up and I cannot for some reason get him to understand that the numbers on the screen do not really matter, its the vape quality were after. Start low, work your way up, if it burns at some point turn it down a little. Number fixation is a problem with allota vapers, chasing numbers instead of vape quality.

When the new tank gets here it will be a little easier for him I think. At least then if he turns it up to 30 it wont be disastrous.
