Most youngsters fall into the common trap of mass marketed low/low-mid priced gear that doesn't allow them to get anywhere close to experiencing the best flavor that DL has to offer
You mean pods? Even DL AIOs are pretty impressive these days I understand if they got mesh coils. I always thought mesh coils were part of the high wattage problem. Those mesh coils need a lot oomph to go. Then they’d move up to an rba of some kind and keep vaping at 90+ watts because that’s what they thought attys run at.
so they aren't usually representative of top-level flavor chasing DL peformance anyway in the first place. But more importantly on top of that, the typical widespread stigmatization of high wattage DL is preventing many vapers from spending the actual time and effort it takes to optimize flavor performance of high wattage DL in such a way that it becomes top-level performance. I.e., the early-dismissive behaviour type mentality is also the main culprit.
That’s the longest single sentence I’ve tried to read in a while. It’s a bit hard to parse. I think I got it after the third try though. If I’ve got what you’re saying right, I’d have to disagree. I’d say the potential danger of ultra low ohms on mechs is the main culprit rather than any “stigmatization”. Probably also the need for larger higher power more expensive gear as well. There is a time/money/effort/quality ratio to be considered.
Finally, judging the performance of advanced coils by buying exotic wires or coils at a hefty price premium is not the same thing as buying a cordless drill, swivel tool, and spools of wire to learn how to build your own advanced coils all the way from point zero.
Nope. It’s cheaper and easier. Completely ignoring labor which is quite variable according to what a given person makes in the workplace, How long is it going to take that Benjamin or two worth of gear to pay itself back at $2 per coil every 3 to 6 months?
That’s not the reason people make home brew exotics.
My dad was an avid fisherman. He had an aluminum sport fishing boat and all the requisite gear. He used to wrap his own fishing rods from blanks and cast his own lead jigs. I’d guess he spent a couple or three hundred hours total actually in the boat fishing over his lifetime. (He was a GS16 working for the USDA). So that fish he brought home cost what a hundred dollars a pound maybe? A thousand? Hard to quantify.
He didn’t give a pickled goat fart about the cost. He liked to DO it. He LOVED sitting in that tippy foul smelling fishing boat on an ... chappingly cold spring morning staring at basically nothing for hours on end (he also liked to drag his kid along. I loved it not so much) I love that he loved it. Any single solitary iota of love I have for fishing I owe exclusively to him.
If you get off on wrapping exotic coils, wrap exotic coils. It’s sure as heck a better habit than smoking. Take pictures of them, give them to your friends. Sell them to your friends for that matter. I’d do a cost/benefit analysis before quitting your job to go pro though. It’s safer.
The bottom line is too much bias is preventing too many people from even trying to do a fair comparison, let alone do a fair comparison.
I think you’re confusing the term “bias” with the term “basic artithmatic” and “fair” with “stuff that fits my personal opinions” (I’m avoiding the word ‘bias’ because that one is apparently already confusing). That last one seems to be a common problem in our country today. I believe in the news “balanced” is another word like that.
I've been trying to read the rest of the thread. But it's difficult to do when I'm constantly rolling on the floor laughing my rear end off.
Good to know everyone is enjoying themselves. I am too BTW. This is more fun that throwing Cheerios at the cat.
That part of my reply was to point out the simple fact your hollow remark about mech safety doesn't make you look smarter.
Well it definitely failed to make someone look smarter. Me, I was just hoping to prevent a hospital visit or two by proxy.
No of course you don’t. That brings up another new word:
Definition of RHETORICAL
I mean the part of the vaping community that aren't too stubborn stupid to educate themselves properly about battery safety. (I.e., definitely not people like you.)
The definition of “we” may be a bit assumptive then. And backwards.
I'm happy for you that you want to keep it.
I know, right? Practically everyone does. People are funny that way. Blow off body parts and they get annoyed.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. That plus the fact it's only $199.99 in the U.S. so not dirt cheap, but not hugely expensive either
That’s what shrinks call a “value judgement” in the trade I think. Someone in the vape hardware trade could probably say what an average rig costs and why. I’m guessing it’s closer to fifty bucks myself. Or lower.
and, I'm not forcing anyone to vape a .07 on this particular mod,
No you merely claimed it was the way to do it safely with a mech.
as there are other ways to achieve high wattage far above 120 watts on a mech like I previously tried to explain (see my earlier comment re series mech).
So which is it? You seem to be disagreeing with yourself
If the Stormbreaker is currenlty sold out almost everywhere in the U.S. and you haven't had the chance to pick one up due to the price tag,
More desire rather than chance. See, I’ve got these things called “pockets”. If I was to go for a massively overpriced overpowered mech desk vape it would probably be a “Hammer Of God” it’s the name mostly. Plus ya know, more batteries.
it's probably because you've been too busy wasting your time by posting senseless remarks on the internet as opposed to doing something useful to earn the cash.
Is this where I get to roll around on the floor again? I quite enjoyed that. I definitely need to sweep up the Cheerios though.
Strawman argument. Low ohms don't guarantee high power, as it also is a matter of the volts so this part of the excercise was merely a stupidity contest at its finest; sorry for my doing it on purpose.
Oh don’t be sorry. You’re doing a Truly amazing job
I will go on, if I don't choke myself to death on my cloud with laughter first.
I’m glad we both feel it.
Of course you don't need better flavor. I don't need better flavor, it's more a question of wanting better flavor, and, I'm not judging anyone who doesn't want nor am judging anyone who can be happy with whatever the flavor performance they currently enjoy. That's the difference between you and me, i.e. I don't usually think in absolute terms when it comes to subjective characteristics
Ummm... I’m forced to point out that just about every word you’ve said disagrees with you on that. I suppose it’s healthy to have a positive self image though.
the whole purpose of which is subjective by nature anyway in the first place, and, again, I never said you need to vape a .07 on anything so your whole discussion point about that was terribly moot before it even took off.
Ahhhh... I’m beginning to get it... you feel the entire purpose of me buying this coil set, vaping it, and then writing about it was because you thought it was obviously all about YOU.
Much is explained.
