I'm gonna probably open up a big ol' can of worms, but Pits aren't evil - it's evil people who make them evil. It breaks my heart to see any animal baited, tormented, taught hate (and this includes HUMANS). Journey can act the part when she wants, but she's really a big ol' couch-potato. Normally, it's about 2-3 minutes of hair-raised barking but most of the time her tail is waggling so hard that she's twisting left and right. Then, there's the occasional "I'm so excited to see you piddle".

Usually always people blame the wrong end of the leash with pits. I know this little girl who was attacked and mauled by a pit that I seen on TV. What they failed to report until over a week later is that there was 10 pits there and they was being trained to fight. It wasnt the dogs fault that the human turned them into killing monsters and it wasnt the dogs fault that little girl got hurt. It was her grandfathers fault for he is the evil bas&)(#%^$#& who was training the dogs to fight.

I 99% agree with you. However I have noticed that many pits are excitable and once wound up are nearly uncontrollable and since they are generally very strong can be dangerous.
But yes the owners that make pits mean should be put to sleep. Sorry but I have no tolerance for mean useleless humans.

+1 re: mean, useless humans!

Yes, Journey is EXTREMELY strong. My SO can't take her on a walk (SO has Multiple Sclerosis, and her own walking abilities have been compromised.) 75-lb dog that has that much strength isn't always easy to manage....

I have cats. They don't seem bothered a bit. I've had lots of cats over the years (I have four now), and about the biggest reaction I've ever seen is that they might wake up, look around, and go back to sleep after a particularly large thunderclap.

Never understood why cats don't freak out at loud noises like dogs do. I've even seen cats sleep in front of the speakers when the stereo was blaring. However, Bogart (my current avatar), runs out of the basement music room if I pick up a guitar...

Perhaps it's time to tune the guitar?

I've always wanted one of those!!

He's a wonderful dog. After I lost my "once in a lifetime" dog, a shepherd/lab mix, my house was just too quiet. I found Kodi in a shelter in very rural Kentucky. I'd been searching the shelters for weeks, looking for the right dog. When I saw Kodi, I knew he was the one (even if they had named him Porky). He was just a year old, and the most happy dog. At that age, he was 80lbs of rubber bands and stupid. He's grown up into a terrific dog. I consider it a plus that he looks scary to strangers ;).

I've had a number of cats over the years. Generally, they're pretty nonchalant with all the crazy noise. My first cat, an orange tabby loverboy, would start HOWLING whenever I pulled out my violin to try to play..... I'm guessing he was empathizing with the material in the strings?

They just like to be close, got one sleeping on my foot ATM :)
I have 3 outdoor cats and they are that way. Come running when I go outside and follow me around. Kinda of aggravating to be on a creeper under a vehicle and the cat is on my chest purring and stomping though.

One thing about my boy irritates me to no ends. he has an extreme food fetish. I will be eating something and he will be beside me and I will stand up and always step right into the puddle of drool because he can just taste what I am eating and it makes him drool. YUCK!

Oh, she's TERRIFIED of other humans, except for my husband and myself -- she runs away and hides! She was a stray, abandoned before she was 3 months old, and from what I learned in "The Cat Whisperer," that means she was never properly "socialized." She likes us because we feed her, obviously. :D

Awww, she sounds a lot like mine - she was "rescued" by a lovely lady who runs a cattery and we took her on when she was about 7 - 8 months old. When anyone comes to the house, she'll slink passed them and run upstairs where she stays until they've gone - we love her to bits though :)

Could also be she is a cat and socializing with humans is beyond her dignity level :D
