In NY I had a gas water heater in the laundry room and never any problems. I just changed my water heater here in Fl and it's electric in the garage. When I said triple the cost I meant that changing from gas to electric will cost you more. Electricians are not cheap!

I know, that's the part I really hate. But who knows; there was a 220 behind the gas range when we moved it out; maybe there's a 220 outlet hiding behind the water heater. :D (though I don't think so, there doesn't seem to be a 220 thingie in the breaker box for a water heater).

But our usual refund is around $2k; probably will need most of that to both get the water heater (not too costly), and get the necessary electrical work done (very costly). That's why we couldn't get it last year, because I absolutely had to update my PC; with all the time I spend online, I knew that continuing to run winXPpro was a major risk.

Hey peeps, my xmas mod got here today. :D :D :D I'm "testing it out" (to make sure it isn't DOA), and I think I like the new version of a 2 ohm coil better than the first version; 9 wraps 29ga around 3/32 instead of 8 wraps around 7/64. I guess I'm just a lot better at wicking a 3/32 since I've used that size coil for 6+ months.

Tada!

Install a drip pan with drain under new water heater.
    the pink pans work best.

Got my subox mini, 2 subtank Mini's 6 18350's, some drip tips and a bunch of unicorn bottles. Bought 10 from Vapor Beast and they sent me 2 free ones :)

Looks like the Subox mini is easier on batteries than the VTC mini. But it may just be that the battery bar will suddenly drop on me ;)

I was using it more tonight, when we went out to the B&M to get a blue small acrylic Ming driptip for it, but now I've put it away, ready to be wrapped for xmas, along with the blue driptips.

The iPV Mini has a feature I've not seen before on any other mod; 5 presettable memory modes, for 5 preset wattages that one likes, I guess. It's odd; I kept having to look at the little scrap of instructional booklet that came with it, to figure it out. I imagine it will take me a while to learn and get used to that.

But no issues with the lack of step-down, so I guess my 2 ohm coils are doing what I needed them to do. :thumb:

Water was leaking out the front door, so I went around back to shut off the main, and went inside from the back door. So I knew the living room was under water (4" deep) and the only way to get the water out was to open the front door, so I decided to film it. Should see the looks on peoples faces every time I show someone the video.

I wanted Pink, but they only had it in dark grey.

Everything is dried out, but still need the floor cleaned. The insurance adjuster will be here this afternoon to determine the damages and what they are going to cover.

Burnie, I'm truly so sorry for the unimaginable stresses you're enduring. I must say tho, that vid is phenomenal! Scary, creepy, oddly entrancing.

Here's wishing you the best for a very happy outcome from this unfortunate damage!

I was sniffing around online yesterday, looking at different drip tips til my peepers crossed. It was the first time I'd had a nosey at some. I came across some which caught my eye - Ming. "Hmm", I thought to myself, "That name rings a bell. I think Andria may have mentioned them."

Lookie here, you mentioned them tonight. Well, well, all my following this thread is finally sticking in my grey matter. Didn't think I was learning anything.

    I gave myself a gold star :)

    Cheers

It's my favourite shape in standard drip tips as well. Unlike Andria though I like the big versions. :p

I have to confess that your video of your disaster made my blood run cold. I've been in a worried knot ever since: wondering when our water heater is going to break. It's getting old. The fear is real.
Make sure if there is a leak there is a place for the water to go. Ours had a drain right next to it, but the pipe outside was clogged with dirt, no way for it to drain, it IS fixed now. (Edit: our water heater was dated from 1978 when the house was built)

Well the adjuster was here yesterday, took moisture readings, furniture and kitchen cabinets are still wet, and they pulled out the drying equipment Saturday saying everything was dry. Need to find a different company now that knows what they are doing to get it dried out. Glad we are going to others houses for Christmas, no way we could have it at ours this year. On a sorta plus note, the adjuster is putting in to replace the kitchen cabinets because of the water damage, just not looking forward to the kitchen being torn apart for who knows how long getting the work done. Oh Well, it is what it is. :)

It's good that there were no arguments with the adjuster so that's a big plus. And you sound organised. Hang in there

At least he's working with you. Yes it will be a headache for awhile but think of the end results. A nice new kitchen!!
