I’m to the point,

I’m thinking of going the route of: You Are Offending Me / I’m offended by that
(works for many groups of people)

•you wouldn’t call me the ‘n’ word
•wouldn’t call me the ‘Q’ word
•you’re not going around calling me ‘fat’
•you won’t call me ugly (to my face)

so WHY do you call me a Smoker :-x
that offends me, and I’m going to sue you (defamation of character)

it’s NOT SMOKING, it’s vapor…

 :grr:

As far as I'm concerned, nicotine is as harmless as caffeine.

I think I read somewhere it's not exactly known how harmful nicotine is. It's likely the bazillion other chemicals in cigarettes which are the most harmful.

Focussing on the fact that (many) vapers still use nicotine is rather like someone coming home to a sparkling clean home and saying "You missed a spot."

:)

(Am I making any sense? Haven't downed my 1st cuppa coffee yet)

I find the most challenging people to deal with in regards to vaping, are those who have never smoked. My partner being one of them. "You're still using nicotine", is all that is said.

I smoked for over 40 years and haven't had a cigarette for over 7 months which is unheard of for me.

I'm proud of that fact. Once I realized I wasn't going to get the pat on my back that I expected from my partner for that accomplishment, and that I did this for me and no one else, I pat my own back.

Some folks don't want to understand vaping no matter how much we/I might try to explain to them that it is much better than smoking cigarettes.

What can ya do? Shrug, and be proud of yourself.

It's hard to explain to people how addicted we became to smoking. I used to have friends and family tell me "Just quit!" like it was so matter of fact. Try telling that to the alcoholic or someone hooked on drugs. No those addictions are looked at as a sickness. Well guess what, I was sick for over 44 years! I'm not any more! No, I'm healthy now! I have quit smoking! I Vape now!!

You should feel great about yourself now, both physically and mentally. You should explain to her that you will now have more time to spend with each other because you are no longer killing yourself with all the toxins that you were inhaling. No it's not the nicotine that was destroying your health, it was all the other garbage that was slowly sucking the life out of you! Maybe at some time in the future she will see you made the right choice. Not only for you but for everyone you Love!!! Congrats JK!!!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Well...I'm proud of you!!

I'm sorry your partner isn't more supportive. That's a pity. :(

I quit cigarettes the first day I tried an "e-cig" which I ordered online pretty blind..just read a lot of reviews, crossed my fingers, and pushed the button. When it arrived in the mail, I assembled it gave it a couple of puffs and declared "I can do this!". That was that. I never picked up a cigarette to smoke again...I even still have the half cigarette that I put in the ashtray that fateful day! My husband was intrigued but it took him another 9 months to commit. I've been smoke free going on 5 years. It's nearly 4 years for him. I smoked heavily 43 years. The last 10 or 15 I was a chain smoker.

I think one of the things that really made my heart soar was a year or so after I'd started with my "PV"s when my son came in the room and watched me a minute while I was online puffing away on my eGo and he said "Those things are probably the best invention of the century! They are awesome!" He's never smoked. None of my children have, even though their parents smoked like fiends most of their lives. All three of the "kids" (they are grown now) are very supportive of our vaping habit. I'm so proud of them! And I'm so proud of my husband and myself, too! YAY!!! to ALL of us!!! :rickroll:

I get the EXACT same thing. "Aren't you going to cut back?" I'll cut back when you cut back on caffeine....

I just ignore the people who don't have a right to dictate to me. Correct the 2 people who are allowed a say.

As for caffeine I reduced my caffeine intake by 50% last year. From 2 pots a day down to 1.

NO ONE has the right to dictate to me. A handful have the right to negotiate with me.
note: this of course does not include oppressive government types

I'm lucky in that my husband fully supports me vaping and is over the moon that I finally quit smoking. He doesn't mind that I still use nicotine and has been known to leap to my defence if anyone comes out with the "Yes but ...." line :)

Still trying to get my Better Half to understand the nicotine thing. I explain that nicotine is NOT the carcinogen, but that doesn't always get remembered :(

I feel for you guysand gals that don't get the support from the people closest to you.
I get health benefits from nic.
It helps my muscles relax when they get spastic. So the wife good with vaping.
Plus she saw the other day at the Doctors office that my O2 level is now at 99! A year ago it struggled to stay in the low 90's.
We are better off vaping than smoking!!!!
