Yep. Nope and nope. I've been building those 2 tanks for almost a year now. Never off the 1.6 ohm mark by more than .2 ohms either direction. Usually only vary by <.05. I hit them with a DMM before I put the chimneys on. Then put them on the mod and it reads the same after fully assembled.
My coiling jig of preference for KF's is actually a q-tip stick with the cotton tips clipped off. It's just a hair over 2 mm, but still less than 2.5 mm. I have a coiling tool, but it seems to get in the way when I go to wrap the wires around the screws. And it's partly habit. I didn't have the tool when I first got the tank, so I just tend to do it the same way I always did.
I just measured a Q-tip brand Q-tip with the paper stick and it is 2.53 mm

I understand that but putting a 1.5ohm coil in, it's no longer a sub ohm tank.

But my understanding is that it's very airy, which is definitely not tootling -- you need a tight draw for MtL. That's always my main concern with any new atty, and unless I hear someone say it can do a tight draw, I won't waste my time or money on it.

Someone DID tell me a Derringer can do a tight draw, which is utter hogwash. It's as bad as a Caterpillar for the WHOOSH phenomenon.

I have ZERO interest in HUFFING my vape.

I pulse and pinch to get rid of the hot spots. That usually oxidizes them a lil bit.

I've found that sometimes pinching can cause an overlap -- which is mainly why I stopped doing it. If you wait a sec after pulsing, then when you pinch, the wraps won't stay stuck together.

I'm poor. I use the Megalo-Mart brand. Not sure exactly what size, but they are just barely visibly smaller than my 2.5mm coil tool. Either way, no way I should get a 1.06 ohm coil off it with 8 wraps. And if I had a short, there would be a hot spot somewhere at the low resistance spot.

There does come a point when it's just a waste of time trying to "fix" something when you can't figure out what's wrong with it, and you should just "drop back and kick" (make a new coil). :D

Question to the toots, how come I have never seen anyone using a Subtank Mini with the 1.5ohm coils, great for tootling, great price, 4ml of juice, coils last ages and it has a rba deck.. Strange

I have Russian 91s and none of the sub tanks offer me any improvements.

Actually I have little interest in vape gear now. I have found my happy place.
2 rDNA 40s, 1 MicroStick, 4 R91s, and the awesome Chels MiniDrip and MicroDrip.

I will likely add a MicroStick, and an awesome MiniDrip and MicroDrip or 3.
Other than the XvoStick the new stuff leaves me numb. It's mostly all clouds.

Or just vape it. :thumb: I dialed it back a few watts and it works just fine. Was just curious if anybody else had seen the same thing happen before and what caused it.

Not *exactly* the same thing, but I've had coils that, for whatever reason, just didn't measure out anywhere close to where they should have. I don't like hot vapes, but love long battery life, so I just trashed it and started over. :D

More often though, I run into difficulties with the wick -- over a year of practice and still sometimes manage to use too much, and it's so difficult pulling it thru the coil, it just tears apart and I have to start over with the wick.

My coils always seem to be .1 or .2 off of what I was intending. I usually just vape them and enjoy the vape. A few days ago I was wrapping a coil for one of my Erlk's, got distracted, and put an extra wrap or two in it. It ended up being 2 ohms. I haven't vaped anything much over 1.5 in a long time. But I vaped it anyway and for some reason that coil gave me the best flavor. So I might just go ahead and wrap them higher from now on.

Well can you believe it, my next door neighbour and her sit on lawn mower just came smashing through my gates and almost took me out while feeding the fish, that could of been messy. Shes not only backed into her own garage in her car, shes now crashed through my side gates, someone please give this woman a bicycle and a push along mower. Why do these things keep happening to me, I put down the paint roller, feed the fish and almost loose my feet and ankles..... I need a vape.

I have a philosophy that every bad situation is 10% positive so in this case what is the 10%

You saved your fish
Or
You saved her from a watery descent
Or
You needed more material for you memoirs
Or
You were meaning to fix that side gate
Or
We needed a smile on this cold morning
Or
You get the drift :p

How do you like the ErlK Linda? I always wanted to pick up a cheap one to try out.

More wraps means more vapor and more flavor. :thumb:
Unless you put something like this on your KF 3.1 then it just burns the wick off in the middle of the coil.
