When you heat the Kanthal with a lighter etc "anneal", it takes the springy/stiffness out and makes it more workable.

Yeah, I know. I took metal shop. It had just been a while since I've seen (or thought of it). This morning, it made me laugh.

But it doesn't take much.

The really weird thing is that every spool of kanthal I've bought so far, says "annealed" right on the label of the spool... but it's all springy as heck! I always use 29ga nowadays, which isn't as bad as 30ga, but I still run a lighter over it before I try to make a coil.

I just checked, and the minor diameter of a 6-32 machine screw that I use to wrap spaced coils with comes out at just a little over 2.5 mm, perfect :)

That appears to be just about halfway between the 3/32 and 7/64 drillbits -- between 2.38mm and 2.77.

ROFL!!!! Our cat just LOVES to hang out on the bathroom vanity, curled around the "puddle" my husband leaves for her in the sink; I told him the look on her face is something like "my instincts tell me to lurk over water -- I just don't know why."

But when she first start hopping up there, she'd see that kitty in the mirror (the kind that comes all the way down to the vanity), and start trying to attack!

Hey Rick. A lot of work, but probably more interfering than that, is that GD RADIUS THREAD. I don't know why but the dang thing PULLED me in.

I didn't even order one! It was just the "play" that got me.

And, now that I've answered, I'll reply in kind. Where, sir, have YOU been??? :D
I went to Paris for a break, got sick on the boat, had to much wine and tried some snails which are best left in the garden. Then I came back and bumped into my neighbor and that's where I'll leave it ;)

Is this the same neighbour who tried to drown you in your fishpond as a sign of affection.

WHEN DID YOU CHANGE YOUR NAME???

You need a new mod.:p

I need a new keyboard, but they don't make 'em like they used to! I'm absolutely OCD about the spacing/layout, and having found one that's *almost* right, I'm very loathe to get rid of it... so I keep putting labels on the keys, after I type the letters off. :D

Sure wish I could find a real IBM keyboard.

I'll .... in... ;)
Your 3.1 should have come with a drip tip adapter that threads in. They are 701 drip tips with that thread on the bottom.

You can get one from FT and it comes with a spare SS middle tank and a throw away wick & coil.

Thanks, TD! My clone didn't come with an adapter, so I had no idea they even made them. :D But I can't complain, I got it for under $8 on clearance, and it is very well made. I'll stick some of those adapters in my cart the next time I order from FT.
