I'm definitely one of the ones who continues to chase after the perfect vape, continues to read ECF obsessively, and continues to buy new gadgets. But I've always been that way - with anything that fascinates me. Most likely, some people are born with a genetic predisposition for whatever personality quirk leads to this sort of behavior, and all that's needed is the right stimuli to propel us into "chasing overdrive mode." To me, the vape-chase is one of the healthiest one can engage in... although not so much on the wallet :(
Stop talking about me... stop it stop it stop it. Hey... seen the latest vibrating RBA with bluetooth?

Agree with the OP. For some of us, smoking addiction was about more than nicotine and habit. I didn't actually feel like myself until I'd been vaping (and smoke free) for 7 months. I went through lots of ups and downs during those early months and I'm quite sure it was due to the lack of the other stuff I'd been getting from cigarettes for two decades.

Even now, coming up on four years, I still have times where I'm just. not. quite. satisfied. It's kind of like being hungry, but you don't know what you want to eat. You keep opening the fridge, hoping to find something good. Yeah, it's like that. You keep wanting more from your ecig than you're getting, but you don't really know what it is that you want. In the past, I used a SNUS during those times. That worked well. I should probably get some of those again.

Yep. This is me.

For me, giving up cigarettes was the easy part. Giving up smoking was the hard part.
No truer words were ever spoken. My goal is to give up cigarettes. To give up nicotine and all the other nasty that cigarettes delivered. So the cigarettes are gone, the nicotine is slowly making an exit. I have no plans to give up vaping. I enjoy it. I enjoyed the act of smoking. I find it very soothing and very zen. I vape 0nic juice when I have panic attacks and it actually helps. Controlled breathing, watching the cloud etc.

I don't think I will ever be totally satisfied with what I have. By that I mean the hardware. If it were all cig-alikes then maybe but, with all the new and constantly evolving hardware I'm always going to be chasing that next best thing. That is also enjoyable. Smoking was a habit. Vaping is more of a lifestyle. Does that make sense?

Whatever reason people chase the new thang, I think a little caution is in order.
With various APVs and mods available, some with different power, voltage or current capabilities, different resistance attys, cartos and now RBAs, even in the subohm range, taking the time to research compatibility before pulling the credit card trigger might be smart.
I don't think you could read all the posts asking if this battery will work with this APV and power this resistance.
Half of ECF is bragging about the newest thing they bought or made, the other half is asking why is just died.
The third half are dissing those that don't think the same way and the forth half are trying to help out.
(If ECF didn't have so many members 4 halves would be a problem)

Huh, less satisfied than with smoking? I haven't been hearing that so very often from people in here. I'm much more satisfied with vaping than I ever was with cigarettes. The constant stream of new toys and juices that give rise to itchy desires is just an extra perc, it's fun. Not connected to trying unsuccessfully to replace the drab, smelly, one-dimensional and mirthless habit that was smoking. That was taken care of long ago, first week of vaping.

I switched from coffee to tea fairly recently. It's not that I don't like coffee. But tea is healthier and I thought I'd seriously check it out. Same deal - initially I was just pleased that once I got the right stuff it woke me up, did the job and was very pleasing. Easy good-bye to joe, a total surprise. BUT - it kept getting better. My brewing skills and palate improved. Wonderful! I now have acquired and outgrown various brewing gadgets, replaced them with beautiful ($$) Japanese kyusus (pots), little Chinese yixings (also pots), woodfired items from Etsy, wonderful handmade cups and antique gaiwans and am really always itching for a new piece of teaware... sound familiar? I hadn't seen that coming. And I'm buying wonderful and various tea from excellent online vendors, reading a lot of online reviews, talking with other tea enthusiasts online, studying, loving every aspect of the delicious stuff and generally having a great time. It would be an error to say that in my heart I know I'll never get the same satisfaction that I got from coffee and that's why I'm always seeking to improve the tea experience - au contraire! It's WAY better to me. And I get my requisite caffeine (plus the L-thianine float), which was all I was initially seeking. It's become a very absorbing hobby.

Ecigs are somewhat like that for me, though quite honestly not as interesting now as they were - after 3 years I've found my happy level with juices and equipment and tho I keep my eyes open it's not as absorbing as it once was.
Just utterly satisfying. :)

Wow! That looks amazing! Just ordered one! Thanks for the heads up!
Fancy meeting you here. ;-)
Yeah... there have been some conversations about them for around a month. As far as I know, they first "popped up" in England, then here for the last week or two. If you haven't seen Todd's video (love Todd... such a happy guy) you should give it a watch. It's certainly a neat idea... I'll have to try one eventually, but I'm pretty happy splitting my time between CTs and RDAs.

Todd's video is what sold me on it. Love to watch him review stuff. He is a happy guy!

Could be worse... could'a had a big mouth-full of coffee aimed directly at your modem/keyboard/big pile of RDAs you're in the middle of re-coiling/Colt Gold Cup National Match/wife's birthday present not yet wrapped/electronic scale - pick any two.

Cigarettes never gave me that experience... and had I known about vaping sooner, I would have bailed on butts much sooner as well. I get my hand to mouth - inhale/exhale - taste and flavor - "smoke" billowing etc etc - with the added benefit of fun toys to tinker with. ;-)

Ditto! I enjoy my vaping much more than I did cigarettes. My hardware chase has pretty much arrived at what I'm happy with, an RBA on a mech with a .7ish coil and I can vape happily on that for hours with my favorite juices. The only reason I can think of to buy new hardware is the failure of my current hardware. I ordered a new mech because of button issues with my current mech, but I can't think of why I'd want a new RBA, the one I have is working just dandy.

I gave up cigarettes quite eagerly as soon as I discovered vaping, and then I was using a device that was truly pathetic. I really wanted to be rid of cigarettes, I didn't enjoy them really, they were messy, stinky, very unhealthy, and super expensive. Now I have something to enjoy with my coffee in the morning, and cocktails in the evening that's so much better. I've not had one cigarette since I started vaping and the very thought is repulsive.

I can understand why some get into the endless hardware chase, there are a lot of cool toys out there, and if you have the money go for it by all means, but I'm pretty happy with what I have. Instead of going after that iTaste 134 I'd rather have another 3tb of disk.
