Mine did not survive the first rebuild. The cone cut it off in the grooves. Once that happened there was much fraying that wasnt very desirable. So Im back on the original wick for now, until some thing better is located.
I am glad to here other people are happy with this. I am still using the same wick I started with 3 rebuilds later. Even though it cost more to start with it just keeps going and going.
Anyone interested in 10 feet of xc-116?

Got my xc-116 wick in and burned it with my kitchen torch until it looked silvery instead of matte white.

Created a new coil and the oHm's was lower than I liked, it was at 1.3. Noted that the wick will fit into the slot but it's a tight fit. Also getting the cone over the wick is a little tricky. Sheared off a small strand on each side getting the cone on OK otherwise.

Filled with juice and let sit 15 minutes. Tried it on my Provari but oHm's were too low so I put it on my Phidias at 3.7v. Vaped on it and it had an awful taste. Hit it maybe 10 times and still awful. Checked the oHm's after the iAtty was all put together and it was at 1.0-1.1.

Wondering if the awful taste was the oHm's being too low. Nasty, just nasty I tell you.

Repent, that's the sizing, you have to keep heating the wick with the torch until it goes from silvery to a pure white. bleh... don't be afraid to go heavy with the torch.

for fraying I have found that carefully tucking it into the channels seems to almost eliminate it. I've actually been heating the areas that want to fray extra long with the torch, it seems to toughen them up and help prevent fraying, it seems to work great for me.

thanks for the info Rick. Thought I was heating them up enough. Will go further until they turn pure white.

Repent, it will solve your low Ohm issue too. When the sizing is burning or incompletely burned the technical papers mentioned that it can become conductive. Just burn the heck out of it, A butane torch, isn't going to be able to get the material hot enough to exceed its failure temp, well maybe, but it will take awhile to get there.

I couldn't get a thin vape using the 116 and I tried. It keeps up with whatever I throw it's way....using really thick VG ejuice.

Para, No thin hits for me either, I've been vaping 100%VG for a week now. I can't flood the thing either. The only way I have been able to flood it is by removing the cone with the tank full, Once the actually airspace is clear it vapes just like it never happened.

Since it seems to work this way, my cone is only screwed on a 1/4 of a turn. It doesn't flood for me, so it's as wide open as it can be. Not screwing the cone all the way down helps minimize the threads of the cone cutting into the wick too. It takes a little bit of fidgeting but it is beyond worth it once you get it going. (Then it doesn't stop until the tank is dry)

I haven't had a dry hit in 6 or 7 days now... I can't even remember exactly

Have you thought of taking a bit of fine emery cloth to the threads on the inside of the cone? Just enough to remove the sharp edge from machining the threads. This may help prevent the cone from cutting the wick.

Just a thought... dunno if it will work.

Hmm, I think I may need to save up a few pennies and get me a piece of that ceramic wick and a butane torch. Sounds great even though I started out skeptical due to the sizing. But, seeing as all of you that are using it are still alive, it must be ok ;)

Whats the shortest length they sell?

I've actually started torching the areas that I am going to cut for an extended period. Then when you cut it, it doesn't fray, and stays a hollow tube. I torch the whole thing really really well. It wants to stay together then.

This last rebuild, my wick isn't frayed at the ends, and only extends to where the threads of the tank start. Nothing to tuck into the main tank, and it's working flawlessly. The next time I build a wick and coil, I will break out my macro lens for my camera, and take some photos.

I talked with him briefly at vapestock, he showed me his Scubabatdan Genesis XL (it holds 15ml of juice.) He's a cool guy, and smart ;)

Oh yeah, lol, Dan is crazy smart. I think he dreams up designs and makes them before he gets up sometimes...like a present to himself waiting in the morning :)

He is a mega-talented modder for sure.

I was going to try this and now I know it works. It is funny how we all seem to be very much on the same page. All of us are really pushing the testing side of the IAtty and it is wonderful to see.

It's a testament to how flexible Imeo's iAtty design is. The thing that excited me the most about iAtty was that we as the community really get to help Imeo drive innovation in the vaping community. It's pretty exciting, and all because the Imeo's designs are flexible, and flawless.
