Mine had always leaked and I thought it was user error. So after reading your post I went ahead and checked my Vmod and it has a tiny crack right next to the threads where you screw the bottle in. I never dropped it so either it came this way or maybe its from over tightening the cone or whatever. I'll try some epoxy and see what happens...

They have worked with me, so I'm hoping you might have a similar experience.

the hybrid vapes better with time. its a nice concept and the Vmod is awesome. love how tiny and light it is and the performance is not bad but now that I noticed the crack I cant help but thinking it could perform even better!! I used to think that it'd leak becos I was pressing too much or too hard on the bottle and thought how much more perfect it'd be if I could do like I do on my Reo Grande and squonk/vape like crazy!!
gotta say that my Reo must feel neglected lately cos the Vmod took its place. at least for now!

OK, a few stupid questions from a potential bottom feeder:

1] Some models seen in this thread don't seem to have an opening to squeeze the bottle. Is that possible?

2] The nice, wood models and even GLV3 go for $ 150 to over $ 200. Are the worth 3 or 4 times the price of a Revolution V2.1?

I know what your going through.

A.G.'s post makes extremely valid points and you should definitely take any and all advise into consideration before your first purchase.

HOWEVER, in my opinion, the bottom feeder mods that we have mentioned on this thread are definitely worth 3 or 4 times the price of the Revolution V2.1 lol.

I know we all have different vaping needs but for your first bottom feeder its always nice to look at something that will put a smile on your face and make you happy you spent the money.

For me, that happiness comes in the form of custom wood bottom feeders and one surprisingly well working little aluminum Mod from vapage.

If its one thing I have learned from vaping is that its better to get a well known well liked device then go for the seemly "just as good model".

In the long run you will spend just as much money trying to replace it or buy "little extras" in an attempt to make the thing work right.

For example, if you said that you were looking for a good tube mod that just works you would most likely get a 90% response to buy a Silver Bullet.

It might cost a bit extra but, it works, will last you a lifetime and it's reputation precedes its self.

I highly suggest you look for these qualities before making your first bottom feeder purchase.

In the end I believe this will leave you with a device you can be happy you spent the money on

I'm giving some custom models some serious consideration and just wondering about plunking down the big bucks. It's one thing to be dissapointed with a $ 30 purchase . . .

One thing to think about is that many of the batteries and chargers for bottom feeder mods also work with other mods, so if you got a REO Grand for instance, you would have everything you need if you wanted to get a Woodvil someday (or another similar style wood mod).

There are a few Grands available right now, they are really a lifetime purchase and the $141 can end up being a drop in the bucket if you go from mod to mod to mod to finally get to something that you know you can depend on 100% of the time.

Oh here is some info I received from vapage in regards to the use of the large O-ring just incase anyone has had an issue with it.

Any further comments on this will probably have to start in a new VMOD troubleshooting thread but, I feel it's relevant enough in the context of this response to list

"The large O-ring is the upper seal for the VMODjuice chamber. You need to press it down into the chamber. Once it is in wipe a slight amount of juice around the barrel of the cartomizer to lube it. this will prevent it from sticking to the cartomizer when you take it out again.
After a couple of uses, the O-ring will stay in the juice chamber where it is made for.
As for it not firing: make sure the cartomizer is bottomed out when threading in--screw it in until you feel it bottom out, then slightly snug it up, but not too tight.
After you use the VMOD a few times you will get the hang of how it all works."

For bottomfeeder fans there are so many many options and all the top dogs make great mods. The thing is there are plenty of talented modders here in the ECF that are not suppliers so you won't see any of theirs for sale but they come real close to the big guys in quality and for newbies who are lucky enough to find one its a great way to start into the wonderful world of bottomfeeders.

BF is the way to go IMO. Lots of good mods to choose from and they do hold their value well as the classys will testify. You could go cheap, but will you really be happy? Doubtful and then you have to offload a cheap mod for a lot less than you paid.

A whole lot is going to depend on your vaping habits for battery size. This is a huge consideration IMO. One thing I would highly recommend to any noob to BFs is the hybri atty @ COV. These are about as idiot proof as they come for a bf. Flooding and/or running too dry seem to be the biggest learning curve on how to feed.With the hybrid, you can't flood.

This will create a pocket of juice in the neck of the bottle.
Return the unit to the upright position and push on the bottle to force the juice into the chamber.
Do a dry hit or two to bring the juice from the chamber into the atty.
Vape.

Since I changed to this method, I haven't overfilled the pressure chamber even once.

I've been running a side by side test between a new Reo mini & a new Vmod to comapre use of a 2.0 hybrid atty. I'm using the same juice while swapping the same IMR and atty. I'm gonna preface this by saying I much prefer the mechanical hit off an 18650 than a 14500.

Vmod
Button action is smooth and effortless with no break in. Button is slightly larger and more comfortable to actuate. Nice large, round contact point to the top of a flat top batt. Instructions to not require naolox. Firing very nicely with consistent hits.
Mini
Button action is smooth though requires more effort to depress. Spring action is tight but I know this breaks in. Button is slightly smaller and less comfortable to actuate. Contact point is a very thin strip of metal. Instructions require use of naolox for the contact point. Firing not as well and hits are not as consistent.
Vmod
Atty performance is sheer perfection once the feeding was mastered and the atty properly seasoned. Used to Reos, I found it fiddly at first until I got some good tips from AG. I'm working on blind squonking and haven't got that down yet. You can see this atty was designed for the Vmod the way in screws into the chamber. It threads all the way in. The draw is smooth and effortless. Some might describe as airy. I find not any more so than an 801 for point of reference. Vapor is incredible off a 14500! The taste (I'm all about taste over all else) is the best of any atty I have used. IKV 801's had been my go to atty and I have not vaped one in the last week.
Mini
Performance is close to perfection once the atty is properly seasoned. Feeding is the same as with any other atty and no leakage from the closed feed system. This atty DOES NOT thread all the way in. Some have collapsed their reo springs and I can only surmise they are tightening too much. I have used these on both the mini & grand with no problems. Thread till contact is made and then I only turn 1/8 more. The draw is much stiffer. If drawn too hard or quickly, the vapor and flavor are diminished. On the Vmod I can draw hard or quick without detriment to either. I don't get the consistent plumes of vapor and I think air flow is part of the issue.

IMO, the hybrid is at it's best on the Vmod. Even on a grand w/18650 batt, I prefer the Vmod vape. The build on these is not like a Reo, lets not kid ourselves. I think for the cost of 6 attys, it is well worth the investment.
