this seems like a pretty straightahead immediately available relatively mass produced item. has it been around long? Does it leak? I've been trying to buy a rReo with no success for about a month and if i don't hit it this weekend i am just going to go with brand xyz. I prefer metal to plastic---but for some reason shy away from the wood models (although AG certainly has quite a set--bt do you vape them all? which one is really the go to vape?) Any other metal bottom feeders beside the reo grand and mini?
Oakland,
As far as I know, Missy's WetBox is not mass-produced. Like many other mods, it is a "cottage industry" product produced by a small number of people, mostly by hand. It's essentially a plastic 2AA battery box, sprayed (nicely) with texture paint, that uses one 14500 battery and a needle feed system. The WetBox was designed to be used with cartomizers, but the feed needle can be cut down a bit for use with atomizers. Version 1 of the WetBox was cursed with an unsealed firing switch that often burned out because of internal juice leaks. This problem was solved in Version 2 by sealing the switch inside some sort of plastic resin or epoxy. I own a Version 2 WetBox and have been pleasantly surprised. Though inherently a bit flimsy (like all plastic 2AA/3AA battery box mods), it has proven sturdier than I expected, and the light weight is a plus.
Be forewarned that ALL feeder mods (especially bottom-feeders) are prone to leaks, some more than others. A bunch have catch cups or juice wells, but this doesn't provide fail-safe insurance against leaks, which are usually caused by user error because of overzealous squonking (feeder terminology for squeezing the bottle to replenish juice in the atty/carto).
I don't know of any other metal bottom-feeders than the two aluminum REOs---Grand and Mini. Everything else is either plastic or wood.
In plastic, the cheap end is Old Goat and Missy's WetBox. Personally, I'd go with the WetBox in that choice, because I find the firing button placement of the Old Goats (at the bottom of the box) to be ergonomically awkward. Just my opinion, though. Like so many of the mod makers, Ron (Old Goat) has a large and devoted following.
If you can't snag a REO mini, I think you would be well-advised to reconsider a wood feeder, most especially Brian's Red Sky Scallywag (video is above in the thread). While there are many different wood bottom-feeder mods available now, the majority are rather large.
Brian's Scallywag is smaller than most (2.9" high, 2.4" wide, and .9" deep). It is also well thought out---sturdy, beautiful, and extremely well-made. That or a Monkeyboxx Mini (also small and very well made, with video above) might be just the ticket for 3.7 volt vaping happiness.
I don't own as many wooden feeders as AG does, but I do have 24 PVs total, and I use 18 of them, ten at my desk (I work at home) and eight more by my bed---each loaded with a different juice. Unlike some people, I don't have a single all-day vape. I prefer the variety of a different juice every couple minutes, so yes, most of my PVs get used every day.
I hope you'll be very happy with whatever you end up getting.
