Excellent review.

The Darwin is the only mod that actually got me excited. I have been very interested in this mod since mutt introduced it.

Saturday night I had an opportunity to try the Darwin and it is outstanding and very impressive.

I am certainly going to be saving my pennies for this device.

Save quick....they launch within 10 days.

Excellent, very fair review from all that I've read. Even though there are similarities between the ProVari and the Darwin, I think they have very different appeal. The Darwin looks like a purpose built device and the ProVari looks like an upper end tube mod. I don't see the need to be passionately loyal to either concept and accept they are both state-of-the-art, superb examples of vaping devices.

I have the ProVari on order and It's only 35 or so away from being shipped. I strongly suspect I will also be getting the Darwin once it goes public. It looks a neat device, very unique and stylish.

Watts, Volts, Megatons or gallons don't concern me, only the vaping experience and battery life. I concede the Darwin appears to win hands down in the 'ease of use' Department but I enjoy fiddling, so fifteen button presses doesn't daunt me. :)

Looks like January 2011 is going to be a great month for new toys. :D

is it an adapter to change the atty/carto connection on it or does it come with your choice (and possibly the ability to buy others that would connect easily)? If it requires an adapter, what is the native connection?

mizzofan - sorry, I forgot to mention this. As far as I know Darwin will come native 510 (the prototype is). I do not know of other native connections but I suspect we will find out soon enough. Of course we can use adapters. I am using the stealth 510 to 801 adapter which I like for both airflow and it is pretty invisible too.

Looks like Evolv will launch Darwin in less than 2 weeks.

That's true if you are talking about Lithium Ion batteries, like what we have been using in other mods. The Darwin uses LiPo batts, which are the same as what they use in the iPhone, etc. They're designed to last much longer. You should get a good three years from these batteries, and even then, replacements are only going to be around $25.

Thank you Angus.

NebulaBrot, I have prided myself on writing articulate, effectively illustrated reviews. However, I now bow to the master. Well done, sir! [Just don't start inserting silly songs in your reviews. Those are my intellectual property (if that is the correct term).;)]

And it seems that the subject of your review is worthy of your talent.

Finally....details and a Darwin with an 801! I grabbed a cuppa and a vape and settled in for the read. Thank you, Nebula.

Is an 801 connector an option or was the tiniest adapter known to vaping lurking beneath that 302? If I can get a native 801 then I'm for sure getting one. And, if the device is charged via USB, why does it come with a charger?

Thanks again. :)

Have net access in this hotel (albeit painfully slow) - don't know about others.
The adapter used is a Stealth 510 to 801 and I posted a review of that adapter. I also posted a comparison of various 510 to 801 adapters under Technical Issues. I believe NHaler will be one fo the first vendors selling Darwin and I saw Drew post that he recently ordered the Stealth adapters.

The charger is built into Darwin. The wire that comes with the device is an AC to mini USB. You can also purchase (many stores carry them) a USB to mini USB cable and use that. If you have the correct car cig-lighter to USB - you can plug in a USB to mini USB cable and charge/passthru vape while you drive.

For what is worth (to you and all others following), I started using this Darwin 13 hours ago and all thru a 500 mile drive. Batt guage still showing 3 of 5 bars (all batt vaping - I have the car adapter and cable but never used it today). Just remember that the guage shows full for hours before starting to drop so 3 bars is not saying 3/5th full. Regardless, I'll be asleep before this needs recharge (and wake to another FULL charge)!

As far as I know, the device comes native 510. If Evolv will offer others, we will have to wait for their announcement to find out. The wait should not be long. You can go to their website Evolv, LLC and sign up for update emails.

I think you'd see some pretty ticked off people if it didn't. Even the cheap Rivas and Egos come with a AC or USB charger. There isn't going to be a USB port available everywhere everybody might go and believe it or not there are people out there that vape that don't even own a computer. I've converted a couple of them myself.

Personally I'd rather use AC to charge when available. I've got to much crap plugged in to my usb ports already.

People can debate which PV is better.....but none can argue the fact Nebula's review was one of the best. Top shelf all the way.

Adding a bit to the knowledge base, this setup is incredible; simply incredible. The 4th vape is like the 9th vape is like the 15th vape is like the 1st vape.

Awesome, absolutely terrific review, NB, informative and complete. I probably still won't get one -- I need my mod to look good, too, or maybe my predeliction for tube mods is a phallic thing:laugh: -- but this is one of the two I have been following to see where the industry is going and going to give me the best vape. I watched the other Darwin thread until it got silly and convoluted, I'm glad to see all of Mutt's and Angus' hard work (trying to handle their buzz with the arguments swirling about the device) result in a pv that is impressive as this one is -- and looks like a great base mod for the AFS, Parallex, making it the feed system that NB said was the only thing missing -- thank all of you gentlemen!:)

Just so you guys know, Brandon from Evolv is going to fly down to Atlanta on the 29th for the vaper's meetup we're having down here, and will have a drawing for someone to win a brand new Darwin.

So if you're near Georgia, you may want to come down and join us at Manuels Tavern for some good food, drinks, and some serious vaping.

Details can be found here:
