Let's not pretend that dumpsterfire Tommy was the only problem. The alleged health expert seemed even less informed than tommy and was just repeating lines from the anti vaping number twisting community.
The whole thing was set up from the beginning, have a pretend "vape bro" represent vaping and a "doctor" arguing against it. Why not invite somebody who actually knows about vaping and let them talk to that doctor lady?

:thumb:

I did make reference to this issue in my email. I agree completely, and the entire segment appears to have been thrown together at the last minute. I have no idea if that's the case, but it felt that way to me.

"

"The "doctor", by the way, appears to have Google-crammed information because she was citing "concerns" that were debunked so long ago that there's moss growing on them."

Nola, "don't throw the baby out with the bath water" comes to mind. A poor segment here or there shouldn't sour you on all of her shows.
No, I agree with you. In mom-speak, I am very, very disappointed in her. I expected better of someone of her caliber. And I’m frankly embarrassed FOR her.

I have to be honest I have always deeply hated Fox news and I am not a liberal and DEFINITELY not a communist. I'd rather watch the double mint twins honestly,. I picture them as Barbie and Ken (OMG especially Anderson) and imagine some kid picking them up and making them reluctantly bang each other.

Also my self has apparently decided that not much is gonna happen today, other than yoga. I don't even care. I'm just exhausted.

But yeah, I hate Fox news they're just as bad as the other side, to be frank. Neither capable of delivering, you know a fact.

I kind of think that maybe news channels should be made to deliver a certain number of verifiable established facts, per episode, even if it's just like "2 plus 2 does equal four, and there's no getting around it," running on a banner at the bottom of the screen.

You know, just to keep them focused, even if in a subliminal way, because the populous would a) be educated and b) there would be this sort of subliminal message going, "There are things that are real and good and true, and what is coming out of the newscaster's mouths is Not That."

But you know. I'm an idealist. Always looking for a hidden good. I suppose it is a hidden good that the double mint twins make me imagine Barbie dolls wistfully, I was not allowed to have one and when an aunt gave me one, my mom bribed my brother to kill it.

No lie. LOL.

Well, if four self-identifies as five then a verifiable established fact blows up and is no more. I am currently self-identifying as Joe Montana in his prime and I think that it may be working (at least until someone here self-identifies as Mean Joe Green).

Agree. I can't even say the word "News" in Fox N Channel.

Although I am a godless liberal with some socialistic tendencies ( :p ), I likewise can't even stand MSNBC on my side of the isle.

The both just strictly cheerleading stations to me. Herding people like sheep.. Always Polarizing hatred for the 'other' side.

Glad I don't have cable anymore.

I don't have cable either, but like, cable's about to die anyway, I think. Or something.

I have a sort of unpleasant relationship with the news, I don't like being uninformed, but I also really freaking hate being lied to as well. So, there's that.

I have also found that maintaining a pleasant relationship with the "now" is sort of where it's at, not listening to "what dire thing just happened" or what "future dire thing may possibly happen" is best. That has worked for me for almost everything except childbirth.

If I really want to KNOW something, LIKE SUPER KNOW IT??? I find out. I have ways. I can guarantee that I will amass the VASTEST store of knowledge possible before deciding on it. But these are usually things personal to ME.

I will say this, I pay attention to how my life is going. The Obama years were literally the WORST I have ever lived. They really, really were. I pay attention to THAT.

So far, Trump administration has given me a new job I love, more pay than I have ever received to date, plus awesome benefits. It is not actually a pre-Trump job, frankly, it was created back in the civil war movement. But, it came to me during a dark difficult time when I triumphed over cigarettes, went through a whole bunch of personal health stuff and has given me one abode to sell, while I live in another (albeit currently stinky and just terrible apartment) city, and my life has gotten super interesting. I believe people have herd mentality, so I for DAMN sure pay attention to who gets elected and how my life goes. Because MY life is part of a societal trend.

I do know one thing for sure, remaining present to the now pretty much works even if it really sucks at times. The now is about all I can cope with. The only exception is child birth. This is a FACT.

Bill Godshall posted a staggering amount of statistics about teen vaping here.

It does not persuade me about an "epidemic" hypothesis. (The forum blocked me from pasting that amount of text in a post.)

I've said many times, I wish ecigs were around when I was a kid. If it's a fad it will do what fads always do, die out and be replaced by the next fad.

Guess they are looking at us now for their next cash cow, hence the gradual stranglehold.

Tobacco Master Settlement at 20 Years

Thanks Mike. I read this the other day and believe I had a minor TIA at portions >

That report for fiscal year 2018 showed that less than 3% of the Master Settlement funds went to such programs. "A couple of states have even in the past used it to benefit the tobacco industry," the ALA noted in a press release marking the 20-year anniversary. North Carolina, for example, used 75% of the funds for tobacco production.

I think I just had another (TIA). :-x

I've also never gotten over the fact that it's legal for states (or any municipality) to sell bonds against uncollected monies based on forecasts of (unpredictable) revenue streams. I tried to teach my kids to live otherwise, but that's not easy when stuff like this goes on.

(deep breaths...)

The FDA should realize that ecigs are leading Americans into a safer method of using nicotine, like caffeine for a mental boost as well as stopping the dangerous habit of smoking. The Feds are apparently more worried about tobacco taxes dwindling as Americans quit smoking. They should be thrilled about the health benefits to those who switch from cigarettes to vaping.

If and when our insurance reimbursement for medical expenses changes so the burden is accurately reflected to make the expense of smoking related illnesses clear, vaping will become their new best friend.

I think the FDA has made it abundantly clear they could not care less about the benefits of switching from tobacco to ecigs. They have made no attempt to argue the point. They simply say it's all about the children.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. Governments that pay for their citizens health care and are thus invested in a healthier population are all pushing vaping as a safer alternative. All countries that do not pay for healthcare and are losing tax revenue are demonizing and restricting vaping.

That strikes me as an over-generalization. I know of only one country that's really "pushing" vaping as a safer alternative, and there are several with socialized medicine where vaping is more restricted than it is here in the US.
