Hi,

I'm looking for a new tank, MTL but as airy as possible. 24-25mm would be perfect.

I'm a long time kayfun 5 fan, but need a wider shorter tank to match my new mod, and would like something which can pack a little more kick. I also own a Wotofo Viper, which I enjoy too but find a tad too airy for MTL :?:

Currently I have the Cthulhu Hastur mtl in mind, I also like the VandyVape Berserker but I fear it might be too tight. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

well then, are then any DL tanks which are better suited for single high ohm coils? I usually vape at 0.7-0.9 ohms.

Seems like most DL tanks come with huge 810 drip tips these days though...
Obs engine nano comes to mind. It’s a highly thought of single coil rta with top fill and top airflow which makes it theoretically quite leak resistant

If you want widely adjustable air flow look at the 24mm Innokin Ares that Phil Busardo was involved in developing. It has 4 air holes in an adjustable array. You can choose any one of the holes individually or adjust it where all are exposed at once. It goes from true MTL restricted to a somewhat DTL feeling wide open setting (for an MTL tank). It's also a good flavor tank.

If you are a MTL vaper and want a less restricted draw, I'd suggest a Siren V2. It's probably the airiest of the newer MTL RTAs out there, you can definitely do a restricted lung hit on the right setting. I usually build miner around 1.0 resistance and I get a very satisfying, airy vape. It does have pretty adjustable airflow, too, if you wind up finding it too airy.

I have the ares and I like it a lot. I find it more restrictive, but I am using the smallest airflow setting. Either would be a good choice, I'd think.

how did you run the kayfun 5? That may help us understand what you like.

0.9ohm 22w airflow wide open.

I would like something that'll vape nicely at 0.5-0.8 ohm, around 30 watts and give a little more air then the KF5
I vaped a kayfun 5 clone exclusively for a year and a half with the airflow wide open and a GeekVape Zeus is what replaced it. It comes with an 810 to 510 drip tip adapter. If Zeus didn't work for me I was going to try the OBS engine nano next.

Flavor is different from the kayfun 5 and I like it. I tried to use the kayfun 5 after using the Zeus for a few weeks and I didn't like the flavor from the kayfun anymore. I only vape unflavored vg though, so I can't comment on Zeus with flavors.

I've ran the Zeus with SS316L 26ga 3mm ID .8ohm at 22-26 watts and currently twisted SS316L 28ga 3mm ID .5ohm 24-28 watts.

Berserker will be too tight.

Hastur might work for you. I'm trying it for a tighter draw than the kayfun 5, so can't really comment on it for what your looking for.

A lot of people like their Ares. I can only recommend it as a first rta (ease of use) because of all the issues I have had with two of them. I don't know if I received two bad ones or what, but its airflow is more restricted than the kayfun 5.

If I were wanting to get to 30 watts I would avoid smaller and raised decks like the Hastur and Ares. I prefer a hot vape and found the Ares wide open at 28 watts too hot.

So I'd say Zeus or engine nano.

Just wanted to say....

I'm running the Hastur with the 1.6mm insert (second smallest that came with it) wide open with the more open drip tip that came with it, and while the draw is tighter than the kayfun 5 wide open (more like the 3rd setting), the vape is very tasty and satisfying. The coil is a SS316L 26ga 2.5 ID .6ohm at 22-26 watts. Since it comes with even bigger inserts you could probably easily reach what you're looking for. Flavor is better than the Zeus and wetter like the kayfun 5, in my experience.

I wanted to correct my false perception of the Hastur.

If you're a big KF5 fan you'll probably love the Hastur. I loooooove my Kayfun 5, it was finally a KF with real airflow. I jumped on the Cthulhu MTL afterwards, and have been using the Cthulhu ever since. Airflow is roughly the same (Cthulhu might have more), its shorter and 24mm so it fits perfect on my DNA75c. Aside from the different wicking methods, the Hastur should be pretty similar to the Cthulhu MTL.

Thanks for that, I was thinking it must give more air then the KF5 with the widest insert. I've heard it's even possible to use it with no insert, that should do fine!

It's currently on top of my list, but I'm also very curious about the OBS Crius II
