We have a road around me called "Chillicothe",and while using Goggle navigation on my Android phone. The voice pronounced it some crazy way.:)

OMG - you *have* to find a way to record that! I really wanna hear it! I used to, for work, have to call Simon & Schuster on a regular basis to order kids' books and they had an automatic voice system. I was a regional trainer for around 3 years and I always had my trainees call the number. The title that matched the ISBN I gave them is the book, Shoes, Shoes, Shoes. Now, the machine must have had some coding that once it said something the same way a couple times in a row, the next one would be different, so here's what it sounded like (to my best possible imitation) "shoes, shoes, shooooooooeeees :( ," making that the last one was said long, slow and sad sounding - it was hilarious!

What's a Pilot Frixions? There's been some label maker talk in the SI thread and I am getting really envious because I have a Dymo that does nothing but print letters that fade. Rave has a good system, but I don't know where she got it. She posted on SI yesterday. Blues is less trustworthy with his posting. pointing her finger and shaking it at Blues coz he's one of her faves and she gets disappointed when he doesn't show.

Pilot FriXion pens are like normal gel pens, they write beautifully, cleanly, they come in a zillion colors and you can get them all the way down to a .1 tip. I use a .3 or .4 normally. The US ones look like a normal gel pen with a cap on the pen, except that there's a little latex-like nubbin on the end of the pen. If you're writing and make a mistake all you have to do is rub the nubbin on the boo-boo and the heat makes the ink disappear - one tiny annoyance is you can't put the cap on the pen or when you turn it to erase something you have to remove it)! I have newer ones from Japan that I got for Christmas and they're actually clicky pens (no cap) where the pen clip is the part you click on so that you can still use the nubbin with the only downside in normal use on all the FriXions - don't leave the pens & papers written with them in hot or super cold cars. This little "downside" is something you can exploit have fun with! You can send, like, secret letters to your friends by writing whatever you want, then aim a hair dryer at it until it all goes away. Heat is why the text goes away - you can use anything that won't damage your paper to rub and remove the ink. So, you've written your letter, heated it until the ink disappears and send it off in the mail. Your friend then takes the note and sticks it in the coldest part of the freezer for a few minutes. Voila! There is your secret squirrel message. Invisible ink for the new millennium! Honestly, though, these are really great pens and other than possible pressure marks if you press hard when writing, the ink is just gone. Great for any notes you want to scribble that you may want to change later - Ie the little boxes I'm writing in on my tank box. If I change out a flavor I just rub the nubbin on it and goes away, leaving a pristine white surface to label again! I think I have like 13 of them (3 are pink, lol) and they're becoming way more popular in the US. The normal Blue/Black set is sold at Office Max (last time I checked) and they're all over amazon.com. Best place to get them (or the highlighters or the markers - also all heat erasable) is jetpens.com. I found these pens while trying to find a certain type of fountain pen that isn't sold in the US and landed at jetpens which is a Japanese site - and also the only place to get the clicky pens (they call them "ball knock" I dunno?). I did, however, get my first set from Amazon and they were really good price for the pack I got. I love my highlighters as well - I haven't tried the markers yet - they're the newest thing. There's another brand of "erasable pen" and they're horrible. I wish I could remember the name but the reviews were SO horrid (paper getting ripped, ink left behind, etc. for the same concept of pen) so I never even tried them. Whew - the FriXion wiki there I think, lol!

I also just got a Brother (that was the one I got free with GC's on Amazon) it's a PT-1290B and it was a special edition so I got not just the usual black on white tape, but also a white on rose cartridge (that I heart). I got it on Monday but we didn't get batteries till Weds so I had to just stare at it. It takes 6 AAAs, but CVS had their batteries on sale BOGOF and they had some special "10 +2" packs so I got 24 batteries for about $7.50 with tax - woohoo! The model's not super fancy, but it's better than a lot of them and I got lucky finding one in the range I was looking for with free extra tape because that's going to be what all the newer amazon GC's I earn will go toward, lol! Rave had mentioned in one of the threads which model Brother she uses, but I forget what it was. She'd be able to tell you - just pm her. I think it was around 30-ish bucks give or take a few. I have the brain of a goldfish or I'd at least be able to find the post, lol!

Phew - guess I had a lot to say! But when I start talking about things I love I just keep going, lol!

Toodles for now!

I am sooo going to look for those pens. Wouldn't my students love them???? (Holy crap, school is out and I should be thinking of other things!) You got ROSE colored tape? oooohhhh.... sooo pretty, must touch I just really got into labeling to finish my Master Teacher application; there were so many sections and domains that I had to match up! I swear, that was as hard as writing the narrative!

Yep - just don't let them take tests with them! The rose colored tape is really pretty, and I'm using one that sort of splits the top and the bottom text like this sorta: -+----- larger text on top, tinier on the bottom. I made a couple of labels, one is APPLE PIE on the top part, and in smaller print under the line 20mg v1. Way cool and fun. I forgot how much I loved the label maker at work - especially because *I* didn't have to pay for the tape, lol! I also like that this is laminated tape so the ink is under a thin film of plastic so it's harder to rub off the print (you'd have to try).

I also just realized why Waxahatchie sounded familiar to me; my birth Uncle is a home builder there in TX! Small world, lol!

LOL, I hadn't even thought about not letting them use them for tests!! I thought for journal writing and even to write notes to each other. (It would be a refreshing change from constantly telling them to quit texting). Wow, I think you are the first person I have ever met that "Waxahatchie" sounds "familiar" to!!!!! lol

Ohio,in the sticks!
It is!! There are a bunch of syllables to think about and we in Ohio can only think about two and then stop!! ( OK, really it's because English is a stress timed language rather than syllable timed. All non stress syllables revert to schwa, or "uh".) Betcha didn't know you were conversing with a nerd on such a HUGE magnitude! Going to sit down now and diagram sentences for fun:D
OMG! My eyes crossed,as I read that three times. I thought I was back in school.(JK)!!!
The bad thing about my school, was we had to go by the beach to get there. So I had a lot of self guided field trips to study the human interaction with the oceanic wave system.
When I did make it to school,it was mostly to study the female species. (including the teachers)!:D

I am glad to see your strong interest in science, ummm, I think? (Maybe Ohio teachers aren't as "hot" as Florida teachers? lol) I hope your eyes have uncrossed enough to find your way back to Ohio!!!

Hey, you guys, (yeah, totally OHIO) here's a linky to a meet up. Buckeye Vapors Anyone else wanna go?

Wish I could, Hilltop's actually the best (easiest) side of the city for me, but my car is being a *bleep* and I think my exhaust system may be about to drop off, lol! I think I just need my muffler replaced (thank you Midas for still charging manpower fees - not) but we'll see! I had the entire exhaust system replaced about 7 years ago, everything but the front pipe so I hope it's just the muffler!

I went to their site and they've got a small but fairly rounded amount of products. Bad thing? No juice online. You have to pick it up in their store and only then can you see what flavors they have. I'm doing so much DIY lately that I don't often buy regular juices, but to help a little startup I was willing - but looks like I can't :(

If any of you go - wave hi to my hometown for me :) I grew up just outside Columbus in Hilliard so I know the city pretty well :)

TTFN!

From Rave over on the Mature thread:

Okay folks, here's the deal with Bluesman. We are close friends. I've been communicating with Bluesgirl in regards to his condition and now have his permission to fill you folks in.

In 1968 Bluesman was blown up in Viet Nam. The blast took his arm but resulted in a great deal of other extensive damage as well. His head was shattered. The level of care that he received was sub-standard and he has been paying the price all of his life. The plate that was installed in his head sometimes shifts. Sometimes damaged areas of his skull fragment. Sometimes his brain bleeds. This results in excruciating headaches which sometimes go away with time, and then there are the times that they don't. This was one of those times.

On Thursday the 6th Bluesman went into surgery. They found bone fragments that had been left there since 1968 that were causing the bleeding into his brain. The plate had also shifted. They were going to attempt to remove the fragments but felt that it was too risky. Instead they attempted to stabilize them to prevent them from causing further damage. His surgery lasted for 6 hours.

Yesterday a CT scan revealed that the bleed was continuing. The problem is that Bluesman is on an anti-coagulant. Normally, he would need to be off of it for 7 days before a surgery. This was an unforeseen situation and so he had only been off of it for 2 days. The bleed couldn't be stopped by cauterization because you can't cauterize brain tissue. Once again, he went into surgery.

According to Bluesgirl, he is now awake and bantering with her. That's a good sign. It's a "wait and see" scenario from here on out. I'm in constant contact with Bluesgirl, and will fill you all in if there are changes. Knowing Bluesman as I do, I don't think he would want to be flooded with PM's with your hopes for a speedy recovery. Instead - try to send them directly by transmitting good thoughts and well wishes in his direction. Trust me, he will feel them.

5 hours later (in response to rave's absence as well and an update):

Well yeah - I was pretty upset about Blues and keeping Bluesgirl company as well.

So the latest news is that he came back from extensive testing today with flying colors. Apparently, during the second surgery last night, they used an aneurysm clip to close off the bleeding artery. The clip will have to stay in permanently. I just hope that he doesn't have to endure more of this. Bluesgirl too. She's been through the wringer. They are both very special people and lucky to have each other.

I will keep you updated if there are any changes.

Yesterday at 10 am:

All of those positive thoughts are very much appreciated Folks! It could very well be working because he was flirting with a nurse last night. No tests scheduled for him today. He requested internet connection and a laptop, but they are making him lie flat and still. Our Blues appears to be on the mend! :)

Yesterday afternoon:

Bluesman asked me (through Bluesgirl) to post that he is:

"picking up everyone's care and thoughts. Thanks to all and I'll be back as soon as can. Just a fair warning. Can you believe they won't let me vape?"

Yesterday afternoon:

I was sooo worried when I didn't hear from him! He's one of those highly evolved souls and I need to hear from him every so often!

My prayers go out to Bluesman, and hope for a speedy recovery.

Back in the land of Buckeyes.

It's about time you got some sense about you!!! Something BAAAAD coulda happened to you. It's good to see you back, and whew, I'm breathing free of jealousy for now. :)

Keep 'em coming folks. Blues can use all of the positive energy that he can get. Thanks everyone. :)

LOVE YA BLUES!!!!!!

I really have to commit to checking in here more often...
This time had more than 10 pages to catch up on.
I should explain what happens to "webfoots" when the weather is toleable to be out in... We are out in it!!! LOL! Although it is still not fantastic, any slight chance of a sun beam cutting though the clouds and drizzle will make us a little giddy...

I saw a couple of posts from some "new blood" in this thread... but alas, you Ohioans are still dominating :glare:... Just kidding of course...

Got a kick and an education on the proper pronunciation of "Chillicothe" (I read it as: CHILL-E-KOth...... and I know all you who know the proper pronunciation are going...... LOL) It's funny for me, especially since I live in "Clackamas" and the "Willamette" river is just a few miles away... heck, a lot of folks don't even know how to pronounce "Oregon" corretly...:D.

Blkhwk07... I have really enjoyed your vacation pics and reading the posts, it sounds like you had a very nice time.
Dlsw... congrats and I am really happy for you that school is over. Even though I am not a teacher, I have two teenage sons in school and have always spent a lot of time volunteering as a helper whenever I could (the last 12 years), and this year, even I am happy that school is over for the summer (my kids have 3 more days.... YEA!).
Daisygirlie... I hope you are feeling better these days. Pet the kitties for me.

Sending super good vibes and thoughts Bluesmans way...

Garden is surviving here, despite Mother Natures attempts to totally destroy it...

We have another new project here (like we really need *something* else...). The leopard gecko laid an egg, which we now have in an incubator. Don't ask me why, as it's not like we need any more critters to take care of, but, ya know... it is kinda cool and since we have a male and female gecko.... well... chances are *pretty good* the egg is fertile... so we shall see in a 6-8 weeks if we have a baby gecko...;-) It's just one of those type of experiences that we think are pretty cool.

Have a great evening all!

It's good to see you again. Stop in again before we accumulate 10 or 20 more pages of posts!

C'mon Bluesman, I only have Blkhwk to flirt with now!

Well, we can't have that now, can we?

I would offer raucous flirtation to all the lovely young ladies here, however, I am married to a lovely young lady, with 2 stepsons (16 & 14), 2 daughters (4 & 2), and a baby boy (5 mos.) CAVEAT LECTOR!

I propose that all flirtation-available bachelors speak up now and offer their flirtation services! C'mon gents... I know you're out there! If you're really rusty or drawing a blank, PM me, I'll get you started!

Happy Vaping!

Actually, noone on this thread is a bachelor or bachelorette, that's why it's ok... Especially Blues, he's very married and we are in contact with his wife through Rave and SHE is encouraging us to flirt with him. Soooo, flirt away! You're pretty safe here. :D

Ahhh... thank you for the clarification!
To confess, I only skimmed this thread (and it's predecessor) before posting  In my defense, I usually do better!

Yes, I have been a very naughty boy and should be ... oh, wait! wrong board!

As etiquette suggests, a bit about myself:
Native Chicagoan, moved back and forth to and from Indiana over the years.
Smoked for 20+ years, vaping on and off for last 2.5 years.
Married for 5 years to the most wonderful young lady I have ever met.
Worked in Network Administration and Computer Security for 11 years at a bank (sadly, they were placed into receivership and their assets parceled out at the end of 2009)
Worked as consultant, but currently unemployed due to wife's illness; so, my job title is Mr. Mom now :D

Which reminds me, I need to put my daughters to sleep - they should not be up this late!

Until next time, I bid all of the ladies a lovely night, and to the gentlemen, Happy Vaping!
