@Uncle - I be confused, but thats ok.

These were simply my opinions, many based on previous incidents I have observed here.

And I apologize, I evolved rather off-topic.

Absolutely - NO NEED To Apologize . . . I knew those comments were "Your" opinions about the subject at hand - which I appreciate and only slightly defer from . . . However, given "My" personal opinions and certain previous past experiences here on ECF - I think it better not to provide any other commentary at this time, especially given that this is not really what this thread Topic is about like Ya' said . . . "We're GOOD" . . .

I think the current system will turn out to be self policing and not subject to frequent abuse. That the poster can see who red x'd them is the self regulating mechanism here. If I as a poster see multiple disagrees from the same person, I can choose to either one, ignore it, two, contact that person by PM, or three, turn it over to the mods to deal with. mods can then evaluate the situation and determine what steps are required. I do believe a private appeal process is important as it allows a member to defend their actions, and either provide a rational explanation for their activities, or hopefully see the error of their ways. If neither of those two outcomes are achieved, I am sure the mods will resolve things based on the forum rules as well documented over 16 pages (Mike, there are really 16 pages of rules???).

Yes, they can be difficult to find. I wonder if a link to the forum rules can be placed in the "Forums" tab in the Upper Bar. Just add a Forum Rules above the Mark Forums Read so it is the first on the list?

In Addition - IMHO - This is where a "Read" or "Acknowledgement" button should also be included for all members to click on that they have "Read" all the (be they 16 pages or not) before being let out of the "New Members" sub forum . . .

The rules are common-sense and politeness. I have only read them lightly, and I don't think I have ever breached them. If anything, I probably err on the side of caution. That is just the way I am.

Don't you agree to the forum rules when you create an account here? It's been a few years since I signed up so I don't remember if this is the case.​

If dangerous or outright wrong info was included in that post, not all readers may go on further and read the rebuttal, and there are all levels of reading comprehension skills that visit the forum. So to my mind it is a useful tool to warn prospective readers about the information presented in that post.

Right. If I see a post suggesting that extra virgin olive oil is a good substitute for VG, I won't hesitate to use my disagree button--and I will explain why. But disagreeing with others' opinions, flavor recommendations, favorite mod/tank suggestions etc. is simply asinine. Just because I don't like sweet dessert ejuices or 200W mods, I won't "disagree" with every poster who does... *sigh*

The "disagree" button has its place--but it should be used judiciously, only when the poster got his/her FACTS wrong, not opinions or preferences.

Disagree. There are several very specific dos and don'ts that have nothing to do with politeness/common sense but with specific forum policies (like drug talk, no selling or trading in general forum, etc., for example).

YES - I believe you are correct - however, how many people actually "Read" them before or even after they have agreed . . . Just Sayin' . . .

ETA: Those rules are not for new members only. And they are being updated sometimes. I just reread them--#32 is new to me.

32. Polls and Contests
a. Any event decided by voting, or polls, or contests, run by and for members or groups, cannot be termed 'ECF xxxxx Of The Year' or similar as this gives the impression that ECF has sanctioned the event and has some input into the conduct of it, or has requested appropriate quality standards where the poll is for a product. ECF would require independent proof of safety standards or similar. Such private events must be termed 'ECF Members Choice xxxxx Of The Year', 'ECF [Group] xxxxx Of The Year', '[Group] xxxxx Of The Year', or similar.

Roly added that one a couple of years ago.

Some people thought ECF was running those Best of XXX's instead of members.
