Wow - that brought a different sound to that song. Liked it. I first saw Hendrix at a place in Philadelphia back around '68 called the Electric Factory. It was a great place because it only held a few hundred people and it wasn't hard to get close to the stage. It was also the 1st time I heard him play - Wow, just Wow - what a show. Also saw the likes of Janis Joplin and Eric Clapton there, it was a great time there, wished I remembered it all.

A friend that I had played in a band with made it possible for me to meet Hendrix, Joplin, the Phillips and Elliot at Monterey Pop, and I just missed a chance to meet Townsend. Those three days were amazing. After the festival I drove up to San Francisco to see a childhood gal pal who had quit high school and went to live in the Haight. Ended up staying for all of the SOL and almost right up until I had to report to boot camp that fall. Got to hang out at the Dead House a couple of times, at the GGP "ins", do the music at the Avalon and Fillmore, and meet a few other local band members from the era. The diggers and hippies called me a Hawk, but they still accepted me. I wear a peace and fire medallion that signifies that... in rememberance of that summer, the people before Vietnam that accepted me, the nation that didn't after. I have remained in loose touch with that gal pal all these years, but over the years and many moves have lost track of the other friends from that era.

(Yawns .... "Is it morning or night?")

Justin Beiber, as true as my teeth are false, is no replacement for Jerry Garcia. Will Farrel is no George Carlin. Al Sharpton is no MLK. My old hemorrhoid cream was better than my new one. Where's my old chair, I like that one better. Who painted this porch? What the hell was wrong with the old color?

(Goes back to sleep.)

I have heard the name Justin Beiber, but I don't know who he is (or rather, what he;s famous for...). It is on my to-do list this year... start reading People Magazine and find out who all these names belong to, lol lol lol

Well, I kind of need a porch to hang out on for awhile. The house is now officially "totalled" so we get to figure out what to do next. The best, if the bank thinks that we can afford it, would be to buy a single story modular home to put up on our land.

In the meantime the insurance company is looking for an apartment for us. Kind of fun trying to explain that three tiny towns are all equally close, and that there is nothing bigger for a long way. Also luckily we qualify for senior/disabled housing since there are a lot more units of that in the area than there are market units. Luckily the agent assigned to us is also fond of Rottweilers and thinks that at 70lbs our rotty/shepherd cross is downright small, so she'll be working hard to find a place where he can stay with us.

When she asked if either of us smoked I even got a chance to do a little education about vaping.:D

In the meantime I'm putting my new standard public service announcement in: CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARMS NOW!!!

We're ok, and the pets are ok, and even most of our stuff is ok (or will be after it's cleaned), but if it weren't for good smoke detectors it could have been very different.

Hi Amoret, and sorry to hear that they've decided it's "gone." Hopefully the insurance will cover their suggested modular. Some of them are well made, not at all like the old "trailers". And they're often better insulated than "stick" houses these days.

Around here, the fire dept's are always pushing to change batteries and test smoke alarms every time the clock changes - on and off "savings" time, and that's something I've done for years anyway. Yes, indeed, the warning is often a life-saver. And often read about fatalities from a house fire where they had smoke alarms - without batteries! Sort of like insurance, one of those things you hope you never need, but if you need it, you sure hope you have it!

{{{Amoret}}}, great news that things seem to be moving along for you. The modulars are very nice and won't take as long (or shouldn't) as building a new house. Over the years my sister has lived in a couple different ones and was very happy with them. She even had one with a basement. In the meantime I hope they can find an apartment for you where you can bring your pup. Now lets hope more snow holds off until you're moved in!! We're sitting here looking at 2" of snow on the ground and hoping for Spring, but knowing what you're going through makes me count my blessings!

My house is an open type floor plan.
The have 2 smoke detectors in the living room and one is at the peak of the vaulted ceiling where the kitchen joins the living room.
We HAD to disconnect that one...could not even make toast in the kitchen with out that blasted thing going off.

My cat would freak and run when we took the toaster out of the cabinet !

Pretty poor location for a detector

10 pages already! I am going to have to pay more attention. Thought I would show you all the view out my front door last Wednesday night. Here in VA that's total gridlock your looking at. I didn't get back to work until Friday.

Well hello everyone. Make room for me. Couldn't think of a better way than to start the day with a chuckle. Gonna go find me a nice quiet place in the corner and make myself at home. You know, it really doesn't matter where the porch is. It's the people that pull up a chair that matters. I'm glad to be here.

ROBOT FOR SALE

A father buys a lie detector robot that slaps people when they lie.

He decides to test it out at dinner one night.

The father asks his son what he did that afternoon.
The son says, "I did some schoolwork."
The robot slaps the son.

The son says, "Ok, Ok. I was at a friend's house watching movies."
Dad asks, "What movie did you watch?"
Son says, "Toy Story."
The robot slaps the son.

Son says, "Ok, Ok, we were watching porn."
Dad says, "What? At your age I didn't even know what porn was."

The robot slaps the father.

Mom laughs and says, "Well, he certainly is your son."

The robot slaps the mother.

Everyone have a wonderful day.

If I could give double thumbs up I would. That's just funny!

My granddaughter had a well-physical today and the doc gave her a script to be evaluated by a specialist. I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm nervous. And in a way relieved. She's three, but from the time she was a few months old when you cooed and smiled at her she'd slide her eyes to just off-side of your face and she still doesn't like eye-contact. I've always thought that is just weird. Anyway, since she's only saying words (in both languages since it is a bi-lingual household) but no sentences it is becoming a bit dangerous because she's big enough to get into things yet you can't explain the meaning of danger. So..... they dont have an appointment yet but at least they've accepted that she isn't quite the same. Especially now they have the new baby the difference is really obvious. At 4 months he's already smiling for the camera whereas she just looks off to the the side in a daydream expressioin...

You have my prayers.

It's 50 degrees outside and everything is finally melting. Just read an article in USA Today that says that we are actually back to normal for winter around here and to expect more before spring. Walked the dog earlier and the glare just about blinded me! Gotta get me some sunglasses!

I've read that the Pacific Northwest is the biggest per capita annual sales of sunglasses. We need them so seldom it's hard to remember where they are. And then, of course, the next day, when you no longer need the new ones, you put them away for safe-keeping, right next to the other 3 pair...
