Good late morning, Porch Peeps!

It's a beautiful morning here and I started my day sitting on the front porch with the sun bathing me....so so nice.

The remainder of the morning was spent trying to figure out how I want to organize photos and am totally confuggled. I *think* I want them on Google Drive, but didn't realize I needed an app for syncing. So will investigate AutoSnyc Google Drive. I'll get it sooner or later, but hopefully, it will be sooner.

I'm finally recouped from our adventure; it did take me a couple of days to re-acclimate, and fortunately cuz Richard is here for another extended stay, no cooking for Mama. The chef is here again! :)

Anyway, have to get some things done now, so this was a quick fly by, and thought I'd leave you with a pic from my garden.

They were amazing hosts
Having you as a guest in our home was one of the greatest joys of the week :)

Thank you so much for the hands-on session about how to build coils for my REO, and for helping me pull together my building kit.

Mr. Seapeach now feels entitled to buy more stuff for his boat.:p

Sad we didn't have time for Sea World or Cirque du Soleil, but I'm certain there will be other times. But it was swell getting to meet Ken_A and he was such a sweetie to bring us our very own BIFFs.

try everything, is my outlook. Just had a go with some clay.
Absolutely use acrylic for that, oils wouldn't cure properly for ages. What do you like to paint?
In oils I paint ..... and landscapes. In watercolors, mostly flowers, but I'm very heavy handed with the paint in watercolors unlike most folk. If you check out Bernard Martin, my mentor and teacher, you will see why. All of his work is in watercolors but looks as if painted in oils. bernardmartin.com : fine painting Home

One of these days I will find the courage to post some pictures of my various needlework. :)

Meanwhile I will just enjoy the creativity of the rest of the porchers.

I'm afraid I am severely lacking in the creativity department. Still looking for a fun hobby. :)

Well all the crap weather that hit Texas yesterday is hitting us today. We just finished our second tornado warning of the morning.

Wanders out to the porch in search of a sunbeam this weather is distinctly un-catlike!

We got hit pretty hard early this morning. Lost power at about 5am... power was still out when I left at 6:30am this morning and not a single traffic light was working on my 7 mile trip to work. I think that's about 15 traffic lights, total. All of the businesses along the way were without power, as well. Tornado alert was going off on my phone at around 5am... rough night, rough morning... took me 40 minutes to make my (usually) 15 minute drive to work.

It's not bad. Just a really big body rush and then fairly quickly things settle down. Mine was a cardiolite stress test using the radioactive stuff to check the blood flow in your heart. It's an all afternoon deal but you have a 3 hour break and can go eat. :thumb:

Why does post count matter? Do we get a prize? I'm relatively new, although it looks like I've made senior as well.
It doesn't really. Just ups you status under your handle. I haven't worried about it in a while. :)

Texas is drying up, then getting soaked again. I got caught out in a storm on Sunday afternoon & had to pull over twice. Once because the rain was too heavy for the wipers to keep up, & again when everyone in front of me came to a stop right on the highway because of the 2 tornados forming above us. They touched down about a mile away. I've never looked straight up into a funnel before. It looked like a funnel with the spout part cut off, just slowly spinning. There was another one forming right next to it. I think they combined & then touched down.

Thats fun, i once looked up and saw 3 funnel clouds tn a triangle directly over us, and we were camping.

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

Tornadoes are scary, but amazing to watch from a distance or on TV. Just don't get too complacent and not take cover in time!

From what I can tell everyone was well lit last week!

What happens at the Odyssey stays at the Odyssey (well, sort of)

Hi, I'm finally out of crisis mode with my vaping, so thought I'd come around back, and maybe get a chance to just chill. And find out who everyone is. It's morning in Au, a bit too chilly for a walk to the beach, but I've got a scruffy dog painting in progress, and think it's time to get it out and continue. So glad everyone is here.

Welcome to the Back Porch! Glad to hear your crisis is over.

One of these days I will find the courage to post some pictures of my various needlework. :)

Meanwhile I will just enjoy the creativity of the rest of the porchers.

I'd love to see your needlework! I used to do that when my kids were little, but once I started working there was no time for crafty stuff.

We had a bad lighting storm move through at 7am. Woke me up, but I turned over & slept till 10! I was sleeping great, which is rare, but 10am? I have things to do! I have an infusion tomorrow, (steroid warning), & am leaving to pet sit for a friend for 12 days starting Saturday. Gotta get things lined out for Mom grocery wise while I'm gone.
Plus I'll have vapemail landing today! Woohooo!

Yesterday I made a weighted blanket for our quilt club to donate to the school district for autistic kids. Just as an experiment, I slept under it last night. I had the best night's sleep, no three O' wakeup remembering bad things. Might just keep it!

Just discovered that it is used for that, too. Medical Blankets | Autism Aid | WeightedBlanketsPlus.com

They recommend them for people with anxiety. Was it difficult to make? Keep in mind, I have NO talent in that department. And their prices are way out of my league.

It was beastly. The next one will be much better. I made an envelope (pieced on one side), turned it right side out. Pinned it together, ran seams up three inches apart. Put 1/8 cup poly beads in each compartment using a funnel and chopstick. Shook it, basted the beads into the bottom part of the compartments, then ran a seam across to make each compartment three inches square, then did the next set. Worked all the way up. Will put binding on the top.

The sewing machine does not like to run over those damned beads, which go everywhere.
