Notice the amount of people on the website, people are tired of putting up with it.

I rarely pay attention to that ... but I just looked 107 members on line and 102 robots. We're almost out numbered by robots, yet alone 1000+ guests.

What the heck are robots and how can they be detected and stopped?

Finally taking a sanity break. I have been working on a spreadsheet for the last week or so. I haven't used Excel for 6 or so years. I wasn't ever that good at it. I was more of just a user, not a designer. Having to work through the brain fog from meds hasn't helped either. Anyway, I have it set up and have started inputting the data. I will finish the basic data entry tomorrow. May have about an hour of data entry and then it will be adding data as I have more to add. I found one book that I have been referring to as a reminder of what and how to use it. Office 2007 for Dummies. Between it and the Office website, I have been able to stumble through making the spreadsheet. I think I will play a game and then off to bed.

I hope it's okay to ask for opinions, but I'm scheduled for cataract surgery in a month. The big issue is the type of lens. I've been using my left eye for reading, and my right for distance. Eye doc seems to be in favor of going for a distance lens, leaving me with glasses for reading and no corrective lens for distance. Still, I don't really like glasses and don't normally wear them. Still, if I do elect the distance lens, I could always have a spare eye, so to speak, for driving. I will still make up my own mind, but would like other opinions to toss around. If anyone has made this decision, were you happy with the results?

A lesser question involves astigmatism. Doc tells me I have it in the left eye, but fairly minor. I don't want to spend the extra money, but still, whatever I decide will be a lifetime benefit or detriment.

Again, I will make up my own mind; just looking for your thoughts.

I'm just beginning the preliminary appointments for both cataract and vision correction. I plan (unless strongly advised otherwise) to request reading/computer vision without glasses and distance vision with glasses. I figure that I will want sunglasses only when outdoors/driving, so I will be using glasses there anyway, so why not also use them for focal length correction.

I spend 12-16 hours a day reading or at my computer. It would be nice to be able to see the entire page or screen in focus and not having to be turning/nodding my head to look at different parts of the page or screen. I'm a speed reader, so I need to be able to flick my focus over the whole page to pick out the significant words. I can't do this fast enough if I have to move my head to get the proper glasses/focal length lined up with each part of the page.

As for astigmatism, I plan to ask for that correction as well. I have it bad in both eyes - bad enough that it is a significant part of the correction in my glasses.

But, wouldn't that make it difficult to do things like walking around the house - I know if I did it I would need glasses to walk around and to watch TV and such. My doctor gave me the choice, but advised distance correction due to what he called normality mentioning the things I just mentioned. I am not a doctor so just MHO...

Oh, indeed, that would be nice. Using my laptop, it's always moving my head left to right, and back again to keep things in focus. And when reading a book, moving my head down and and left to right when reading the page. Would be so nice to just scan the page with my eyes. But, I'll count my blessings as I remember my Grandmother had to use a big o'l magnifying glass to read. Now that would make it 'tricky' to use my laptop.

Like I said - 12-16 hours per day at the screen or reading. I don't spend much time outdoors OR walking around the house, watching TV, etc. For exercise (which I have been doing more about for the past 6 years - coincidentally about as long as I've been vaping) I use a treadmill with a reading stand for my iPad. I really don't spend much time looking at things more than two feet away. I typically don't turn on lights when walking around the house late at night. I know where things are and pitch a fit when people leave obstacles in unexpected locations; by age 74, I pretty much have anyone who spends time around me well-trained.

If I could leave a pair of distance glasses (probably multi-focal to also read the dashboard) with photochromic lenses (auto-darkening) in the car, and a pair of single-vision glasses of the proper distance for TV watching (movies only - I haven't watched broadcast or cable TV in 25 years) kept by my TV chair, I could spend 90% of my time with no glasses whatsoever.

Little programs that, in this context, scurry around the net collecting data. Some so search engines can index, so not all are bad.

No way to stop them short of shutting down the net.

What is the spreadsheet of? Is it business or pleasure?

Without the robots, nobody would find ECF when they did a Google search!

Good morning!

Now, I need to go wake up my daughter, again! She's supposed to be at work in 5 minutes. I think she may be late today. It's more work to wake her up than it is to go to work!
My #3 ex was impossible to wake up. He put his alarm clock in the bathroom to try to force himself to get up. He set the music to come on full blast. Then either ignored it, or got up & turned it to snooze & got back in bed. Meanwhile, I'm super awake & po'd. I finally gave him the grown man & responsible for getting himself up & to work lecture. Divorce was inevitably going to happen.

Not sure if you know this but to get glasses that darken down in the car you need the latest and best transitions lenses so they work. The older one don't really darken down when behind glass. I got mine from the VA but I don't think they are the newest type. They work great outdoors but in the car not so much. Took me about 2 or 3 weeks to get used to the new Rx. I don't know if it was wrong and my eys got worse to accomodate them or that I was just used to the weaker glasses and had to get used to the new ones.. They are working pretty good now.

Oh, Boy! I have a pre op appointment next week, with surgery planned for Dec. 18. If you get there ahead of me, would you let me know how it works out.

My inclination is to go for distance and use glasses for close up work. That will probably mean wearing glasses whenever I'm not driving, but no way can I afford the type IOC that is somewhat focusable.

When I get closer to the date, would it be okay if I contact you - on the off chance you get the surgery before I do?

How odd. I just did a mental inventory and don't recall any ex wives with any kind of name that sounds like Kenna. I admit, I'm totally irresponsible when I'm asleep.

It is totally for pleasure. I have it set up for tracking times in the PS4 game, Gran Turismo Sport.
