Mary Poppins got it wrong - it's a spoonful of applesauce to make the medicine go down. The DH can't swallow pills - major gag reflex so applesauce it is. They also used it in the memory care center for my MIL.

@3mg Meniere - thank you for your work at the VA. A friend (who has adopted family member status) came back from 2 tours in Iraq in tough shape. People at the VA have given him a lot of support (well, some of them!). It's been a slow process but he's finally getting better (several surgeries, better pain management and recently he got a service dog). You are greatly appreciated.

Kenna - thanks for the info about Medicare Advantage. We're trying to decide if DH should stay on the company insurance plan or switch to Medicare and if so, which plans. We are spoiled by a PPO plan at work but we do have a good PCP if we went the HMO route. I'm glad we have time to sort the bits out.

You are right. I have one that I took at one strength and it made me sick to my stomach, bad headaches, then I got a little higher strength and they were just fine but the inert ingredients make a big diff. My pharmacist always tries to get me the same brand but it is getting tough for him to do because the corporate office is on his back to order the cheapest. I actually was getting some made in America and they worked like they were suppose to and I was even able to back off some, then I got another brand from India and 2 of them didn't work as good as 1 1/2 of the others but at least no bad side effects from the fillers. They are allowed a 25% variation in strength and they all use different fillers. You would think that the American companies would bring their prices down to match the foreign ones because they are losing money at least with insurance especially medicare, they pay them according to the cheapest one available so they can't get the American ones or they would lose money. My pharmacy even showed me their cost on one med for the different brands and what the insurance paid to show me why they can't get the brand I had been on for a few years. They were losing like $25 a month on them and the head office came down on them. So they had to go to a foreign one.

Well, I have an appt tomorrow morning to try to get the 2nd part of this set of infusions. Got the first one with no problems on the 9th. Was supposed yo get the 2nd one 2 weeks later. No veins after 4 tries, so rescheduled for 2 days later. The was the day after Mom came home. I was fighting allergies & Mom was being helpless so anxieties kicked in & I didn't even go try. Rescheduled for 3rd try tomorrow. Nephew will be here with Mom h her Home Health helper & OT will be here. Prayers will be much appreciated.

Not according to some folk... even moi, at times...

One year just before Easter, I was in Walmart and found the cutest bunny that not only sang an adorable song, but at different parts of it, it would wiggle it's ears.....and at a couple parts, it would tap it's foot three times. Didn't take me long to learn the song as I shopped, so I was going through the aisles singing with it, and when it tapped it's foot, I stopped and tapped mine too.

Now dat's da Deba I know and luv!

You know, road trips are a blast - get to meet up with good friends and family, you sure enjoy the company, but not the driving...

Yeah I have gotten over that and they aren't giving me any problems now. The side effects sheet was 4 pages long gets you so scared that it even worried me today because I took my morning dose late and so it wasn't 12 hrs and I took my niight one but I think it will be fine. Sure seems to be working tho. I hope 7 days will do it but I have an appt on the 7th day.

No seems like the advantage plans some docs take certain ones and not others, with a supplement if the doc accepts the medicare assignment at least mine will also be accepted. IDK for sure but I think thats how it works. Some doctors just won't take certain insurances, the advantage plans I think pays the docs and collects from medicare. The doctor doesn't charge anything to medicare. Confusing? If the doctor doesn't take that particular companies advantage plan then hes not in network and you pay more for out of network. Some won't even take medicare.

lulu, I took it him asking whether the other person had a Medicare Advantage Plan. All medigap plans allow choice of doctors (as long as they accept Medicare). Some Medicare Advantage Plans do require that your doctor be in their HMO.

Don't you just love all these doc appts. I have one today at 4pm 30 miles away. Today they see if the cameras can follow the nodule while breathing. If not then will have to have one for them to place gold pellets around it, through the mouth, want to find out more about that.

Well they haad a couple patients put them back some today so new appt tomorrow at 4. VA has already ok'd it so I'm good to go. I called them today and they said it would be ok'd as long as medicare ok'd it which they did. They collect from them at choice. So everything is not up in the air. Except for me.

Thanks for the prayers today! 2 fails on the right arm, finally told them to go ahead h use the left arm. Worked like magic! But not supposed to use the left side. Bummer. At least I got it. Now I have 4 months to figure out what to do since it looks like infudions have to go away.
