An update on hubby's heart condition....c/p to the Lounge
***********************************************

While he is not totally out of the woods we are beginning to see some daylight......EF factor increased from 15% to 25%.
Now, 25% is pretty low by any standards, but believe me, we were smiling from ear to ear with those results. He will continue to wear the Life Vest for another month, and if the EF increases to 35%.....the doctor said there will be no implant necessary......my prayers continue for the 40-50% range. His weight, when this all began, plummeted to 149 and he is now 164! :) :)

This virus truly took its toll on my man's heart, but we are indescribably grateful that the healing is finally progressing.

No, it's an intestinal bug going around. I did miss it so far, but came down with a head cold yesterday. I'm doing fine, he's still in bed. This bug makes you want to sleep a lot and ends up messing up sleeping all night.

Yes, the weather usually does do some strange stuff. I don't ever remember a time when the weather wasn't strange, but what is normal? Yeah, CA is having a rough time, but mud slides are common after fires burn off the vegetation that holds the soil. When my daughter lived in San Diego a big chunk of the state burned and the building she worked in had a huge wall behind it to protect from mud slides. It's a way of life if you live in CA.
Yep Fires, Mudslides and Earthquakes.

Had endoscopy today and dilation, biopsies to come, also some very strange things in esophagus like yeast infection, candida, hiatal hernia, abnormal LES which is the sphincter muscle at the end of it where it connects to the stomach just have to wait and see with the rest.

As usual, the latest episode of This Is Us completely blew me away. I continually wonder if the writers have painted themselves into a corner, but they keep finding excellent new places to go.

Hacksaw Ridge, 2016, Andrew Garfield, directed by Mel Gibson, historical WWII drama. Very good, worth watching. There's one prominent physical prop which seems so unrealistic to me that it damages my ability to give a higher rating.

Orange County, 2002, Colin Hanks, Schuyler Fisk, warm comedy. Entertaining, kind of a feelgood story.

I can't remember if I gave my opinion already on this one, so if I did, here it is again: La La Land, 2016, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, musical. Excellent, almost superb.

Good news! He's getting there slowly but surely. Still praying.

Did the rope ladder up the cliff not bother you? It bothered me. I mean, how'd they get it up there? How'd they get it anchored at the top of the cliff? How'd they keep the .... from cutting it down? That's the aspect that kept me from giving a total endorsement.

I didn't think they got that close to the cliff it seemed they were staying up by the machine gun nests to me. I don't remember ever seeing any of them close to the ladders. By how long it took to get from the ladders to them seemed like quite a ways but he was running carrying guys from where they were getting shot so don't know how far it was.

There are multiple fine documentaries re our Rangers on Normandy just prior to D-Day. Should give a better perspective/understanding..

After a Google search, I find I am not the only person to find the Hacksaw Ridge depiction of the rope ladder to be unrealistic.

I don't want to infect anyone with my incredulity, because the movie is really good. That said, here is a page where someone posted a photo of the movie set cliff face, a photo of the actual cliff face on Okinawa, and a pretty good blurb. https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-most-unrealistic-parts-of-Hacksaw-Ridge-2016-movie

Wow, the "useful" and "creative" feedback options are very creative and useful! I just noticed them a few minutes ago, so please don't tell me they've been there all along, unless of course it's true. :thumb:

Good morning people! It's only 19 outside so I'm staying in.

I'd bought a pressure cooker a few months ago and am finally going to learn to use it today by making a pot of chicken soup. My DIL got an Instant Pot for Christmas and my son made potato soup in it that was delicious. it got me inspired. I want to try beef stew next.
