Seems taking so much at once would be hard on the body...or part of it anyway.
It would be a normal person but I don't absorb it like normal people, the reason I am only 130lbs. I was on it daily for almost a month after my coma. I had malnutrition.

At my physical today, the doc told me I won't likely be a candidate for back surgery due to what he thinks is the nature of my problem. He says that misalignment looks to him to be the issue... front to back misalignment rather than side to side, if I understood him correctly. At any rate, I'll be getting x-rays to verify the problem, after which the doc thinks that the best solution will be either chiropractic or physical therapy.

I was prescribed 15 mg meloxicam pills. Normally, I fight against being prescribed any meds... for instance, when they call me after they get my blood results and tell me that my LDL cholesterol is on the high side, they will want to put me on a cholesterol-lowering drug, and I will tell them I will deal with it sans medication, just as I've been doing for the past 10 years. But the NSAID meloxicam, I'll give that a chance to see if it helps with the back pain.

The doc wouldn't argue with me about getting a bone density test, and I'm scheduled for it next Tuesday. He asked me if I was surprised that he gave in so easily, and I said yes, I was really looking forward to arguing with him about it, and that it threw me off my game that he didn't say no.

Well, you're getting a picture of what your dealing with. Getting a handle on that hopefully will help move in positive direct to help you out.

Well rats. I commented on your post this morning and then never hit reply. I just stopped in here and it was still sitting here! Anyway, glad to hear you're getting this stuff done. Might as well get it over with and see what you're dealing with. I've decided that from now on I'm going to ask for a copy of any x-rays etc. At our age you never know when something can come up and it's awful having repeat tests done. My neighbor told me this morning that the last time she saw her doc he was going to send her for a chest x-ray and she'd just had one 3 weeks before - as ordered by the same doc. Sheesh!

I talked with a cousin yesterday, and she said that working for the USPS takes a toll on a person's body. They generally hire athletic people, but even athletes have a point where their bodies start breaking down. Tennis, anyone?

It isn't an option for the USPS to select those they think are athletic enough to perform the duties of the job for which hiring is taking place. As a Federal agency, the USPS is pretty strictly bound to using hiring policies which do not involve opinion, and degree of athleticism is not something that can be used as a factor in the decision-making process.

Basically, a new hire must be taken from the top of the list of people who have applied to work at that given location. If the person at the top of the list says they are not available at this time, the opportunity must be offered to the next person on the list. In such a case, the person who was not available has the option to remain at the top of the list for the next opportunity. The list is established according to test score. Military veterans have an advantage, but that advantage is limited to having either 5 or 10 points (the number is determined by various criteria) applied to their passing test scores. The extra points are added only to passing test scores and therefore cannot turn a failing score into a passing score.

That said, it's absolutely true that any USPS employee doing manual labor has their body taxed.

I took a 15 mg meloxicam yesterday, after I immediately filled the Rx that my doctor wrote yesterday. An hour ago, I took one for today, with food as recommended. The doc told me that even though the prescription is written for 1 pill per day, I can skip it any time I'm not feeling it necessary.

It could be coincidence, of course, but my back is feeling a LOT better than it has in the past few months. That's why I ate another one today. Has anyone else here taken this med? If so, do you have any comments, whether positive or negative?

She is clearly a Super Genius!

I'm off to have a full physical. Haven't seen a doc since 2015; I really need to get more regular.

Then I'll have to get scheduled for my once-every-three-years colonoscopy, probably get a chest x-ray or some type of scan, and demand a bone density test for hereditary reasons. Hopefully they can do the full bloodwork today; otherwise that will be another visit. I'll inquire about local laser back surgeons and maybe schedule for an MRI on my back. Then, next week, I'm headed to my first visit with an implant specialist.
That sounds like you're in pretty good health Dave which is great. It's nice to not see doctors, we were talking yesterday and our life seems to revolve around doctors appts and making sure to order prescriptions on time. It is very depressing. It would be so nice to be able to feel somewhat good without the need of doctors and prescriptions. It is too late for that, should've tried that 20 years ago. I would've possibly had a heart attack by now because of my aortic valve, but who knows for sure. It's pretty bad when you've gotten so much ridicule about being overweight for so long that you are willing to ruin your life to be thin. Now people I see or a large percentage are overweight and it seems to be acceptable.

It gave me a massive stomach bleed. It covered up the symptoms of the problems I have been dealing with for the past six months. PLEASE follow through with TENS, chiropractic, physical therapy, tumeric, and whatever else you can throw at it, to avoid NSAIDS. You do not want permanent nerve damage as a result of covering up the symptoms.

I appreciate your comments, Mary. Of all the types of medication that one can be prescribed, pain relievers are the ones I'm least hesitant to take. Whether that's good, bad or neither, I'll listen but won't argue one way or another.... that's just my personal opinion about meds. I'll report again on my experience with meloxicam after I've taken it for a while, and I simply hope that the FDA doesn't move it to some more hard-to-obtain category.

So simple, so inexpensive, so delicious. 4 cups dried Great Northern beans, 6 cups water, boatload of coarsely ground black pepper, cooked for 80 minutes in Instant Pot with additional 30 minutes on "warm" for pressure to bleed off. I don't presoak dried beans and never will; there is no advantage to doing so.

Store-bought 2.5 oz Ole brand large (10" diameter?) burrito, several burps of Trappey's Red Devil cayenne pepper hot sauce. Yum! This is my 3rd one in the past 4 hours. If you scoff that this is excessively mild for you, simply switch the quantities of beans and hot sauce. :) The heat is just right for me.

LOL, I don't think that 4 cups of Dave's Insanity Ghost Pepper Sauce is anywhere on MY agenda. 4 drops is more like what I use on a serving of food.

Well, of the 4 cups of beans that I cooked, less than 5% are on that tortilla, so you'd actually only need to use less than one-fifth of a cup of Trappey's Red Devil sauce, which is approximately equivalent to 4 drops of Dave's Insanity Ghost Pepper sauce.

Right after this cup of java, some Spring planting goin on, but I promised myself am keeping it to a minimum this year. Now, let's see how well I keep my promise!
Oh, why keep it to a minimum ;). Plant away! So rewarding to see plants come up. We should PM. Have a seed exchange.

Heading out to water orchids and deadhead and admire plants. Three days of rain made plants grow like crazy :)

My pretty plant picture of the day. 3-year old chenille. Easily 2.5' across. Winters in the greenhouse so stays looking pretty :)

Have always loved the chenille! Yours is absolutely gorgeous!
No greenhouse here....just close to the large slider on the lanai.....but, we got more than 1 freeze, and after the first one when I put things back, I didn't bother to bring them back to shelter again.
I have no seeds this year.....brugs are starting to come back at the base after they froze, and one of them is unbelievable!
This brug wants to live....it was a stalk and everything came back from the base since the freeze!

How time flies! Four years ago today we arrived in Florida with all our belongings, 3 cats, 4 chickens, and @Flowersoul you'll appreciate this, about 45 daylillies, many bedding perrenials, 40 orchids, 5 really large potted plants, my son's favorite planter and DH's compost. It took us longer to settle the plants than the household!

Our arrival was memorable! Hubs was driving a small U-Haul towing my car and I was driving his pickup. The moving van arrived at our house before us and we were supposed to meet it there. We were 2 hours late…because we got lost. We decided to each drive in a different direction to find our town or someone who could point us in the right direction…not an easy thing because we were in a totally rural area…not a single farm house in sight. Back and forth we traveled…until we were almost out of gas. We kept communicating by cell phone until…they ran out of juice. So I stayed put by the side of the road hoping hubs would find me or someone would drive by. Hubs somehow ended up at the entrance of Camp Blanding, a several 1000 acres military training base not too far from our house and the guard directed him to a gas station. Then he drove around looking for me and FINALLY found me. :)

Turns out we were within 2-3 miles from the house the whole time. Can you believe it? And in case you wonder "why didn't we use our GPS" well it's because we hadn't discovered it on our iphones yet.

Gorgeous! Those two sets of freezing weather just about drove me packing to move to Hawai…well not really but I thought about it.

A friend gave me a brug this year, really small but it's growing. No idea what color it will be.
