Good morning, all!

I woke up around 9 or so. My first thought was 'Oh, no! We're all late!' It took me a few minutes to realize it was Sunday. Whew!

Actually, I love it when that happens. It's like you should celebrate because you've just been given a wonderful gift!!

Mike and I were talking about how much we liked that beautiful picture! Wouldn't mind having that picture hanging in our house!
That is one of the prettier ones I've seen. Actually, there are ones that, if gazed upon long enough, provide a mini meditation. Just silent thoughtless awe!

Started this much earlier today.......started to click on the last page, then the internet went out, so I talked to a dear friend for 5 hours  (we don't get to talk too often). So now I'm back to this

Now I've got a soft spot for Lance myself, thanks to that story! Have you ever considered writing to Lance customer service or advertising department and telling them about it?
Newp, hadn't thought about it. Not a bad idea. Sea Arama is no longer in Galveston, but the man who was the director of marine mammal training there is easy to find. He was in charge of all animal care at Shedd aquarium in Chicago for awhile, and now per the webz, has a training and consulting business.

I used to like their horsey sauce, but the underlying beef would make a tiger go vegan.
Jup! I used to buy bottles of the horsey sauce from em. The only thing I ever managed to even kinda like was the beef and cheddar, but only if I had enough horsey and bar-b sauce on it to drown out the "beef" taste. I'd mix up a bunch of it and dunk the sammich in it.

awwwwwwww so tiny! I'm not a fan of chi's so much, but she's so cute!

If you have a Costco and are a member. They have something called Ajinomoto Shoyu style Ramen.
sounds good. I sooooooooo wish we had a costco somewhere around here but newp, they put in another sam's instead. Closest one is about an hour away.

At my physical today, the doc told me I won't likely be a candidate for back surgery due to what he thinks is the nature of my problem. He says that misalignment looks to him to be the issue... front to back misalignment rather than side to side, if I understood him correctly. At any rate, I'll be getting x-rays to verify the problem, after which the doc thinks that the best solution will be either chiropractic or physical therapy.

I was prescribed 15 mg meloxicam pills. Normally, I fight against being prescribed any meds... for instance, when they call me after they get my blood results and tell me that my LDL cholesterol is on the high side, they will want to put me on a cholesterol-lowering drug, and I will tell them I will deal with it sans medication, just as I've been doing for the past 10 years. But the NSAID meloxicam, I'll give that a chance to see if it helps with the back pain.

The doc wouldn't argue with me about getting a bone density test, and I'm scheduled for it next Tuesday. He asked me if I was surprised that he gave in so easily, and I said yes, I was really looking forward to arguing with him about it, and that it threw me off my game that he didn't say no.
I took meloxicam for quite awhile. It was ok, no issues from it, but it didn't do much to help the pain. I'm on etodolac now instead. It's one of those things that it doesn't seem like it helps, but if I went off it, I'd likely notice a little bit of difference. Not a lot though.
I know they're getting better at back surgeries, to where they actually help more than they hurt. So in that sense it sorta sucks that it's not something they can just go fix. But i have a long standing wariness of back surgeries, so in that sense, glad ya don't have to have surgery. how's that for wishy washy? lol

Well rats. I commented on your post this morning and then never hit reply. I just stopped in here and it was still sitting here! Anyway, glad to hear you're getting this stuff done. Might as well get it over with and see what you're dealing with. I've decided that from now on I'm going to ask for a copy of any x-rays etc. At our age you never know when something can come up and it's awful having repeat tests done. My neighbor told me this morning that the last time she saw her doc he was going to send her for a chest x-ray and she'd just had one 3 weeks before - as ordered by the same doc. Sheesh!
now they can just put em on cd's.

When I got in my mood which I know is caused from anxiety I thought to self, self take a xanax thats what they are for. I have been saving them and taking less cause that is what the govt recommends. Sure as heck after a short nap that come few and far between I felt fine. Amazing
Try to remember that now next time ya start feeling that way and take one. If ya don't need em, don't take em, but if ya do.....that's what they are there for.

hehehe. Sun I woke up at 10 am, and almost went bangin on my son's door thinking he was 3.5 hours late for clinicals before I realized it was Sunday.

The picture that Legs posted is, seriously, a Sarcastic Fringehead. (Thanks, Google Picture Search!)

Well, my doctor's office called on Friday with my blood test results. They told me my LDH is ridiculously high and my Vitamin D is ridiculously low. I immediately reduced my alcohol consumption drastically, because I think my drinking is the prime cause of the bad cholesterol level. Today, I went and got my bone density test, then picked up the prescriptions that the doctor had faxed in to my pharmacy on Friday.

Two of the prescriptions are cholesterol-lowering drugs but I only took the Ezetimibe. The other cholesterol-lowering drug is a statin and I'm going to take my chances on not taking it, then see how my cholesterol levels are when I get re-tested 2 months from now. The 3rd Rx is 50,000 unit Vitamin D2 like Legs was talking about last week. that I'm to take one a week. (4 capsules is a 4 week supply).

Tomorrow I have my first visit with a local dental implant place that has an excellent reputation.

And I got my taxes done today, for the first time in years! Well, actually, I submitted extension requests, and took a wild guess about how much state tax I'll owe, and submitted more than that along with the NC extension request. I don't think I'll owe anything to the IRS. More than I've done since 2007, believe it or not. Get 'er done!

Wow! You're really gettin' it done!

I wonder why my doctor put me on a statin instead of Ezetimibe. I guess I should ask him.

I'm supposed to take both. My doc won't find out that I'm only taking one of them until after I'm retested 2 months from now. Whether I inform him sheepishly or triumphantly will depend on what the new test results are. Of course if I have a stroke or heart attack between now and then I'll be sorry I second-guessed the doc.

The biggest thing working in my favor, IMO, is that I was sufficiently frightened by the lab results that I've reduced my drinking radically since being informed of those results 5 days ago. The second biggest thing is that being on the NSAID Meloxicam for the past week has enabled me to engage in a tad more physical activity, and the third biggest thing is that I've cut the fats I was consuming by about two thirds. I've only done it for 5 days, but I think I can keep it up. I'd gotten really careless about it.

And I got my taxes done
we recently got our tax return and lucky for me there was a little more than expected…it afforded me to buy a GMZ from the classies and a Jac and hubs a new chain saw. Now we're poor again but happy :)

You all remember about my hubs heart issue? The rest of the story is that we requested a copy from the cardiologist of all his findings and notes about hubs tests and we were shocked to find out that hubs has another artery that is 50% blocked and one that is 70% blocked. Doc never told us about these…only that he had a little narrowing in a couple of other arteries.

70% sounded like a little more than "some" so we met with our primary who is an internist by training and originally trained for cardiology. She was very surprised that the cardio doc considered a 70% blockage as "some" and didn't seem concerned about it based on the fact that hubs has no symptoms. She agreed with us when we told her we wanted a second opinion on the course of treatment (or lack of) prescribed by him.

The new cardiologist is a little further away but has a great reputation and is a specialist in what they call Interventional Cardiology. So we have an appointment with him next week.
