Well, I do have an mp3 I made some time back, just over an hour of frogs and rain...

(Actually, first made for a friend who'd moved into the deep city and missed them ;) )
That sounds SO relaxing!

One thing in life that I really hate is a thief! This morning I decided I would do one final mowing of my yard. I went to our side shed and moved my riding mower to the other side of the house next to the outside garage door. My routine is to check tire pressure then top off the gas in the mower. I was checking the air pressure and looked up. What the heck! My 5-gallon gas can wasn't where I keep it and the 1-gallon can that has the 50/1 mixture for my edger was also gone. Between the two there was probably 3-gallons of gas. It is just the fact that someone came inside my fenced yard and stole from me. I am very tempted to put another gallon of gas there with sugar in it and hope they steal it too.
Go for it!

Ginny was put in the hosital yesterday. She has an infected bowel. Her WBC was critically low also. I tried to get her to go in to the Cancer Center but she wanted to wait 1 more day. I don't think it would have made any diff any way. Her WBC were nearly non existent. I finally left last night at 9pm she had been in the ER for 6 hours then waiting for a room to get ready. It was so busy they were having to double patients up, its normally all private rooms. So they had to double up the ones that weren't in for any types of infection or susceptible. But Ginny had to be in a private room because of her not fighting infections. Don't know why they were so busy. She got very confused as soon as we got there. She didn't know what year it was. She remembered Trump was president tho. Guess that is unforgettable

I have breast cancer. Yesterday they gave me two options; lumpectomy followed by radiation, and mastectomy with or without reconstruction. After substantial talking with others and information-gathering, I am strongly leaning towards option 2, suboption a. Radiation would involve a massive disruption in my lifestyle, with five days a week trips to the city for three weeks. It is more likely to cause nerve damage, and I have enough of that. More information available at FB.

Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm glad to hear that you're talking with others. Gather all the info you can and then go with what your gut tells you. There are a lot of support groups that can be very helpful so it might be a good idea to seek them out. Your doc should be able to direct you to them. I must say that I have a friend who was given the same options about 10 years ago and she opted for the mastectomy. She's doing just fine. Meanwhile I'll keep you in my prayers.

Ugh! It's good she's in the hospital where they can get this under control. Wonder why the hospital is unusually busy. Pay attention to yourself while she's there and make sure you eat!!

I have breast cancer.

My Dear Mary,

So sorry you'll have to go through this! <addition to prayer list>

Several years ago our eldest daughter's MIL went through plan B w/reconstruction. I was amazed at how quickly she recovered with minimal discomfort.

As mentioned on da porch several times before, radiation is not a kind remedy; if at all.

Prayers out to you, and to Ginny/Pat!

@3mg Meniere Janet is spot on. Research and go with what is best for you. My mom and her mother had breast cancer so I'm high risk. I decided long ago that Option 2 was the way I'd go because of the history.

@2legsshrt Once again, Janet said it best. Let the hospital take care of Ginny and don't forget to take care of yourself!

and for other news...

The DH goes in for his triple bypass on Wed., Nov. 21st. The doc is leaving today for a conference in Milan so that was the first available date to have him do the surgery. He gave us the option of having another surgeon on staff do it if we wanted it done sooner. The doc said because his condition is stable, and as long as he behaves (ha!), we can wait.

In the meantime, we've requested the autopsy report from the coroner's office for his sister who died in 1992 when her aneurysm split to find out what size it was. If it was smallish, like his is, they'll fix it while they're in there. If it was large and just un-diagnosed at the time, they probably won't touch it. If it's somewhere in the middle, they may do it or not. UGH. Hopefully, we'll get the report in the next few weeks (it's in the archives somewhere). Having time to get this info is a good reason to delay the surgery, but I wish it had been suggested or we thought to do it sooner.

Dear Mary, I am sorry to read this. I agree with others, if it was me I would go with option B.

Wishing you the best.

That's what my SIL had a double mastectomy. She wanted to not take a chance. She doesn't regret it but it still came back in her back. She had a lot of radiation and chemo too. It was the same kind of cancer in her back, same cell type. She is taking oral chemo now. Her number dropped substantially the first time but the second only by 5 but it is still going down. She didn't think she wanted to do the chemo so they tried this if it doesn't keep working she has to go back to the infusion type. She's not feeling very good at all even with that. I forget the number of treatments she had but it was a lot. She has been fighting it for 3 years. She didn't go in and get her tests when she was supposed to.

The chemo is rough but she hated the radiation hers was Stage 4 when they found it I have another SIL who had it and opted not to have the mastectomy so she was clear for a while but it came back in her brain. She has since passed from it and didn't know anyone or anything when she was in hospice.
