Some have heard this news, but I wanted to post here (@Iffy )

Last Saturday Geordi and I attended a UKC (United Kennel Club, like AKC but different :)). The first show the judge loved Geordi so much he awarded him Reserve BEST IN SHOW!!!! (2nd best dog in the whole show!)

Geordi: We did good, 'eh Mommy?
Me: Yes we did little man, we did FANTASTIC!! You are my Super Star!!!

Ribbon hangs in the kitchen with his IABCA (an International dog club) Best in Show from 2 years ago. We may not win all the time, but when we do.... A lifetime memory!:wub::wub:
Congratulations!!! [emoji2956] That is fantastic! He is such a beautiful boy. He just exudes confidence. You can see he's happy, & having a great time. He's like " Come on, Mom. We got this!".

Projects are good and that looks like it will be a fun project.

Personally, I would be fixing the front brake before taking it out. The front brake provides up to 80% of the stopping power on a motorcycle. If you try stopping by the rear break only your weight will shift forward loading the front suspension and unloading the rear suspension resulting in the possible skidding of the rear wheel.

Today, I picked up a project for myself. My project doesn't go putt putt, it goes bang bang. I picked up the parts for a scary black rifle. I figured I didn't have enough to pass down to my daughter when I depart this life. So I will leave her one more to take to Alaska or where ever she moves to. For the last couple days I have been watching YouTube videos and reading various articles for all I'll need to put it all together. I consider it an adult Lego kit/toy.
Have fun!

And just to watch, right...?

BTW, why would anyone want more dan two? View attachment 819303

On da home front, just purchased a lil project...

"2008 Hyosung sense 50CC scooter. This scooter has been sitting in a garage for 9 years and does not run. front brake caliper sticks, battery is dead and I'm sure the carburetor is too. Have title, manual and original sales receipt from Hap's cycle sales in Sarasota. Looks great. Good for parts or project. Only 3023 miles."

It's like day-um brand new cosmetic wise. At da mo$t, I'll have to spend 'round $165 fer parts (shipped from South Korea) to get her to 'racing' status. BUT, I'm guessin'/bettin' I'll get her on da road fer next to nuttin' but phlushin'/cleanin' products and phresh phluids. We'll see...

Wha... what did I pay fer dis jewel in da limp? How 'bout $200. Just need a registration (aka plate); no insurance nor motorcycle endorsement required! Also need to get a rear carrier fer my six paks...
Not sure if I'll keep it. If not, I should be able to at least get double my coin. View attachment 819307

PSA: folk from central Tx up thru da mid-west need to watch dat low depression area down in da lower western GoM!!!
That looks like the little Putt-Putt that I used to get my motorcycle license. Cheating, I know!

Have fun with your new project!

Adult legos, I like it. Amazing how scary a rifle is if it's black instead of brown!

I'm doing well to just take my guns apart to clean them. Good luck with your project. It does sound like fun to be able to personalize every detail.

Yep, being able to stop is a good thing :)

Although, of course, sans carb, it's just a push cart ;)

Yepper, I need to 'unstick' it just to roll it.

By getting the AR in "kit" form I was able to get it for less than half the cost of a complete rifle.

I have a stripped lower and complete upper. It doesn't look any harder than some of the carburetors I have rebuilt. Tiny parts that can go "boing" with little strong springs. If I run into problems I might just PM you.

Tuphphest part is indexing the barrel. Do ya have da receiver blocks and indexing wrench? And be sure to buy a quality bolt!

When I was stationed in Japan, if you bought a motorcycle you had to ride 500 miles on base and pass a riding test before you could get an off base license. The license was for under 250cc and another for over 250cc. It seemed to take forever to get 500 miles around Yokosuka Naval Base. I had to do it twice because I had first bought a used 250cc bike. Then later bought a used 650cc. That was a lot of riding in a small area.
I have zero experience with the AR style rifle. I wanted to get a kit so I could become familiar with it. I can now say I am very familiar with it. It didn't take as long to put together as I thought it would. I cleared off an area on my desk and using an online resource I had it together and working as it should in short order. Tomorrow, I will take it down where I bought the kit and have them look it over to make sure I did things correctly. There is also one "castle" nut that I will have to have them tighten as I didn't have a wrench to properly tighten it. After they check it out I will bring it home and do a proper cleaning before I take it to the range and break-in the barrel. Another thing I did was pick up 2 5-round magazines. The idea of 30-round magazines isn't attractive to me. It adds additional weight and could lead to just wasting ammo. I was taught at an early age to make each round count. And nowadays the rounds are not cheap. Especially since I have to pay for them myself.

Boys and their toys ...
Like my wife was fond of reminding me, the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. She also enjoyed going to the range and using the Rugar 10-22 to shoot the assortment of spinner targets I sat at different distances. The only thing I had to do was apply a fresh coat of orange spray paint so she could see them.

As a USAF vet, I enjoyed all the aircraft flying over my house on the way to the field! I believe the p40 passed over here also quite low. By the time I turned to see him after the roar, I believe he mighta been in another state, lol. I worked alongside of B52's- would've liked to see one overhead. Great day for it!!!

I certainly enjoy seeing the planes and it boggles my mind the labor of love (and the cost) to put those marvelous aircraft back together and then maintain them, but my main interest is listening to the WWII vets talk about their experiences. Unfortunately they schedule the talks simultaneously in different places around the airfield. It would be a good time to be in 2 or 3 places at once! Many of them have books that are for sale in the hangar and it's a real treat to be able to shake their hands and have a little chat. The day goes too quickly and it's sad to only have this event once a year because each year fewer of them are there.

Another note of interest, the P-61 Black Widow. Years ago it was a mangled mess mounted in the corner of the main hangar. Each year it's fun to see the progress that has been made to get the old girl flying again. There's only 4 in existence and 3 of them are in museums, incapable of flight. This 4th one will fly one day.

This is all that has kept me going many times. It is a powerful source of strength when things seem bleakest. You don't want to disappoint them; you don't want to hurt them; you don't want to cause them additional grief.

Had a wonderful cell fone reunion convo with Phil (Semiretired) dis PM. He and his bride returned via da 'big pond' a couple of months ago after a six month annual PI 'mission'.

Da BIG news is dat he no longer vapes. Fate had da major hand in dat 'decision'. First day in country (PI) he forgot his one of three Provaris in a cab. Week and a half later, he dropped 'nother Provari dat was DOA after a 'drop' retrieval. Da last survivor must of gotten lonely and said no mo' a week or so later.

He said dat vaping equipment over dere is obscenely over priced, not countin' hard to locate! Ergo, he went cold PV! He only has dat ol' muscle memory as to reachin' for a vape. He's has had no nic withdrawal whatsoever!

Dis trip he and his bride got to take, not one, but two never before experienced 'vacations' while in country! Hope to have sum pics in a little while to post here.

So... welcome back, Semi and bride. Oh, and a happy 30th WA this past April!!!
