However, just in case it might be a good thing to check again, the following maybe able to provide you some assistance, especially some "Caregiver" help for Ya' both . . . First - Fully understand and that can be a problem. However, most of those links are not location specific they are for WA State organizations/programs within & out of the Department of Social and Health Service (DSHS) and from the national American Cancer society that may or may not provide services in your specific area.
Those links can also direct you to those agencies/organizations in your specific area that might be able to help. AND - If I maybe so bold to suggest - given the health problems you both have and the services available - have you also check with getting Medicaid (even just being accepted for Food Stamps will offer even more benefits - like internet for only $5-$10 a month . . .) - There is Medicaid Special Needs Program . . . Absolutely No Problem - It was "My" Pleasure . . . (AND - While I do not have the exact health problems you and Ginny are experiencing, I so fully understand being disabled and having many different health problems, being on a very limited income/medicaid, and not having/refused the services you need.) . . . I'm just very glad you reached out to get some assistance for you both. Hopefully, you will still check out some of the other links to see if they can provide any other assistance that is needed too (Portable Oxygen tank, etc.). More importantly, hopefully Catholic Charities can direct you to a Wound Care Clinic/Specialist/Doctor and/or also provide you with a "Wound Care Nurse" for your leg, especially since you can't continue to help Ginny and keep going without taking care of yourself too . . . Just Sayin' . . .

After reading your post - might I also be so bold to strongly suggest that "You" reach out to a number of these organizations to get additional support for "YOU" - more specifically emotional support especially for caregivers.
In Addition, show this list to your " GDaughter" when she gets there on Tuesday so she can call / reach out to some of these agencies/organizations to get "You" & "Ginny" some more assistance.

Maybe he wasn't lying. The nurses may be at their station, but it doesn't mean they're not busy. Obviously it's hard for Ginny to see anything in a positive light when she's feeling so bad. At least it was only 10 minutes. That sounds pretty quick given the experiences I've had in the hospital.
You need to open those drapes! Turn on the lights and give your pup a nice big hug. Then make a list of the things you need to do and see how many you can cross off each day. If you write it down it won't be so overwhelming because you won't be going over and over them in your mind and you'll get some satisfaction from crossing things off. Break down some jobs like throwing clothes in the washer in the morning and go do something else. Then switch to the dryer in the afternoon or evening. You have to force yourself to make the effort if you're ever going to manage the depression. Also, you really need to tell your doc how you're feeling!!
I totally agree with all of this. I have to break things up to do them a piece at a time. Preparing a meal, & house work take forever because I have to keep stopping to rest. Cleaning the bathroom takes all day! I do plan it out to do at least 1 "major" task a day.

I bookmarked the page this time. I have to go to town again today went to the pharmacy and dropped off some Rx and completely forgot to pick up my antibiotics. Ginny said she is going to try to walk some today with help of course. The more her labs get better the better she feels but like you said Kenna it's going to be slow. I want to make sure the doctor doesn't send her to the nursing home to quickly, he said tomorrow or the next day. She said she wanted to go home and he said only when you can take care of yourself which isn't yet. I know I wouldn't be able to take care of her right now she needs to get some strength back. Even with me helping her she wouldn't make it from the car to the house.
The specter of "nursing home" looms large for elderly people. I bucked and ....hed for quite a while about "being put in a nursing home!" I was mad for two weeks! Convinced myself that I was being put out of sight therefore out of mind. Nobody cared anything about me anymore! Nobody would ever come to see me in my "prison". Wah, wah, wah. I had just started dialysis. my body was a wreck from my kidneys dying, I had had two strokes and I could not care for myself. Someone even had to be with me at all times because not only could I not feed myself........I was having major hallucinations and kept wandering out of the house at night.
So here is probably what is going to happen with Ginny. She's gonna love it! I say this because I have a suspicion that there is going to be physical therapy, occupational therapy, meals served in her room if she so desires, and she doesn't have to wash her clothes or make up her bed. Her therapists (physical, occupational, speech etc.) are there for her. Yes they have other patients but the time they spend with her is hers only. There will be other folks younger, same and older than she is. They will have disabilities and stories waaaaaaaay different than hers.
I spent 6 weeks at this "awful place" and was sorry to leave.
Your job is to go there and look it over closely. If it doesn't suit you tell the doctor no you don't like this one, show you another one. Hold out for the one you like. Medicare will probably pay for it. But ask that so you won't be
surprised.
Any, all or none of the above may happen. I was fortunate enough to have wonderful staff who helped me heal, walk and speak again. Can't say a lot about my typing skills anymore but ya' gotta give up something. LOL

Yeah I've been to this particular one and it is really nice a lot better then when I was there over 10 years ago and it will be ok. They were understaffed when I was there. Couldn't get someone there in a hurry if you needed it. I've heard it has gotten a lot better. Still there was only 1 nurse and each aid had about 10 patients to look after. Actually it's one of the nicer ones in town and only 20 min from here. Don't have to deal with going thru town. I'm sure she is going to have her complaints but it is a nice place. When I was there it was 12 years ago. They'd bring my food if I was asleep they would leave it where I couldn't get to it. I was a new amputee and couldn't get anywhere on my own. Ginny finally got mad, they wouldn't come and empty my urine bottle and it would be full and I'd have to go. I'm sure things have changed considerably. She told the doctor she could take better care of me at home, I was on the railroad insurance then she got the hospital bed all the stuff we needed to do it at home. She was12 years younger and had legs and my Gdaughter was still living with us. So she had help too. I started putting on weight right away when I got home and really snapped out of it. It's not a huge place its fairly large but not like some I've seen and its in a nice setting with lots of trees and park like property there. They have plenty of PT there cause it is a rehab and nursing home.
My list gets too long and complicated. I get up and get a few things done just to get my list manageable.
My problem is with wifi. My wifi has been so bad that I don't even know if I'm having trouble with Netflix.
I got a smart tv recently. I didn't even think about whether or not it had an ethernet port. So I can no longer hook up my Netflix to the wifi over powerline.
Ginny is pretty upset with the way she is being treated at the hospital. She is in the Advanced Care Unit each nurse has 3 to 4 patients. They come to help her to the bathroom and when they get her off they don't even offer any hand sanitizer or anything. She said the food is terrible really bland. She wants to come home but can't yet because she has to be able to walk a little. I hope Manor Care is a better experience for her. She's getting better cause she is getting ticked off at the treatment for what they charge. She can't believe they offer no santizer when everyone who enters the room has to wear a gown and mask. She is upset to say the least. One thing about Manor Care I can get food for her and bring it easily so even if their food isn't great I can get her what she wants. She is ready to get out of there. Just hoping she likes this better. I thought they might try to get her out of bed today and help her walk a little but guess that's not their jobs. Tomorrow is probably the day for moving, I doubt they'll let me take her from hospital to rehab. Have to use one of those Para Taxi outfits. So definitely feeling better cause she is getting ticked off. She said since they know she leaves probably tomorrow they aren't giving her the same treatment as they were before.
