i grew up a mile or two away from the "Blue cube" which was deemed in the early 60's as the Soviets' first strike target. It was even mentioned in the newspaper and on the local news that we were most likely to be hit first. Yay! So proud!

i remember being maybe 10 years old, huddling under my desk like this, raging internally "what the h is the point???" The sad thing is that even at such a young age, the horror of nuclear war was well-known.

perhaps Bigbells would appreciate a quasi-legal drone fly-by before it was torn down

Really cool video and fancy flyin' too.

I'm going to HAVE to beg off next hitch is this dude is not back to work. I am truly tired. Somebody else needs to step up to the plate. If not, too bad, too sad.
Sounds good but I'm not convinced. I can still see you saying "OK" when they ask you to work the OT, and you KNOW they'll ask! Think of it this way, if it helps: you're actually doing them a favor by refusing, since you're putting a stop to a process which cannot be self-sustaining. Better for YOU to make that decision than for chaos to make that decision.

It'll take more than hip surgery to keep her down. Give her love and hugs.
Jup!!! I did, and she sends hers back. She misses everyone. She'll have her laptop once she gets to the rehab place.

He was one of those people that could irritate sandpaper.

Whenever they ask, just remember that it may soon be YOU having to call in sick (if you don't learn to say no!) And, it's no fun to miss work because you're really sick.

Learning to say no is pretty liberating. Although probably not encouraged in the military. Roto, you in the military? It's the choppers and such making me wonder.
Not particularly good news from my doc, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I have a good support system between friends and family. We are all just tiny blips in time/space, after all. And for now, things are ok.
Except I forgot to plug in my charger and am now puffing on a super tight cigalike. Bummer....

(((((((Vape))))))) I'm sorry it wasn't really great news, but am glad you have a good support system. Remember, you just started vaping, so hopefully it will get better as time goes on!

Roto isn't in the military. She works in a place that fixes and maintains choppers that fly out to the oil rigs. At least I'm pretty sure that's where they fly. :) She takes care of all the parts. She works a week on and a week off. Well.......she's supposed to do a week off!!

The 3 AM report from here, a theme and variations.

I continue to use Kanger Subtanks exclusively as my delivery devices. I've given up, though, on the clone replacement parts from Fasttech that enabled top-filling. The convenience of top-filling was too inconvenient because of the amount of joose leakage that seemed unremediable. In addition, refilling required a syringe. In addition, the glass tanks were thinner glass that broke easily. I'd never broken any glass tank before, but two of the clone tanks cracked and broke from mishaps of the type that the OEM tanks have survived a great many times without damage. It's been wonderful to go back to the original equipment of my 2 Kanger Subtank Plus delivery devices.

Back when I got my first mod that was capable of Temperature Control (about a year ago, I think), I purchased a 5-pack of the Kanger Subtank 0.15 ohm Nickel 200 OCC coils. The first two of those coils failed within a short period of time. They quickly dropped below 0.10 ohms during use, at which time the mods I was using at the time would no longer fire them. In addition, prior to failure, the vapor was sparse and pretty poor anyway. I put the remaining 3 of those coils into storage and more or less forgot about them.

Just a few days ago, the Kanthal coil in one of my Subtanks was approaching the end of its useful life, and it was time for me to replace the wick and/or build a new coil. Then I remembered that I had never tried those 0.15 ohm pre-built coils with my current more capable mods, a Wismec Reuleaux RA200 and a Wismec Reuleaux DNA200. So, expecting very little but with nothing to lose, I put one of those coils in my Subtank. It is working marvelously at 390 degrees F in TC Nickel mode in both devices. Very smooth, tasty and quite voluminous. Yay!

Shifting gears, I had a very vivid dream about a month ago. Bear in mind that I'm a political junkie who gets wrapped up in the craziness of the current Presidential primaries. So, for what it's worth, here's what I dreamed:

I was playing golf with Donald Trump. The golf course was covered with a couple feet of snow that had a solid ice crust over the top. We were using bright pink golf balls to help with seeing them in the white conditions. We also had tees that were several feet long, which we'd drive down into the snow and then mount the golf ball on top, sort of like a combination of T-ball and golf. It was very difficult to swing the golf clubs and maintain footing, due to the ice.

Donald was outplaying me in every way and was bragging about his own skill while laughing at mine. However, he was getting really worked up with the effort he was putting into his shots and his face was getting increasingly red. It was nearing the end of the round, and we were teeing off on either the 17th or 18th hole, with the clubhouse in sight a couple hundred yards ahead of us in the blizzard conditions.

Donald wiffed on his tee shot and became redder in the face. When he swung again, he went under the ball and struck the tee, which didn't yield, sending a jolt through Donald. The ball didn't move from atop the tee. With total concentration, Donald swung again and hit a great drive but he collapsed to the ground. He wasn't dead but he was unconscious and headed towards death. For some reason I feared that I'd be blamed, so I dragged Donald to where his ball had landed and then headed to the clubhouse for help.

Trump died, and I didn't get blamed. Calling all Freuds!

Lol, big bells, that's the best story I've heard in a while, although you might need to get some psych analysis done, just to be on the safe side.

I suppose that a good shrink would dig deep enough to get me to remember the fact that the golf ball tees had anchors, of a sort, at the end that was driven into the ice and snow. These anchors were uni-directional; they enabled the tees to topple forward when struck but they locked into place to keep the tee from toppling backwards.

Before Trump addressed his tee shot, I somehow flipped a locking sleeve on the bottom of his tee so that it could not topple forward when struck. This made it akin to striking a solid steel immovable spike. I wasn't trying to kill him even though I do remember thinking that in his agitated state, a heart attack was a possibility. I just wanted to humble him a tad. That's the truth, honest, and I'm stickin' to it!

Nope, I'm not in the military. Debadoo explained what I do very well. NO is liberating. I HAVE to say no this time.

I'm sorry to hear your news from the Doc wasn't what you were hoping to hear. Here's to hoping there is room for improvement!

I like my Kangers too, Bells. Now, if I could just learn to rebuild the coils.

I can't give you an Fruedien ideas about your dream, but it did have me laughing out loud this morning.

Ugh, it's been raining for 4 days here and just checked the weather and it's going to be raining here until Sunday. We're loosing our Florida tans! Mike said we could go out on the back deck and rust instead.

LOL! Cracked me up with the "rust" comment! We're finally starting to dry out a bit over here. Today is 80° and sunny. Finally got a beautiful day, and I'm stuck at work. :(

Good morning y'all, happy hump day. :D

Rotowoman, thanks for explaining your username. That pic you posted of the yellow chopper looks pretty cool. I rode in a helicopter once. Funny enough, it was in Alaska and we landed on the Mendenhall Glacier![emoji23]Amazing experience for sure, crazy feeling for it to be 10 PM and as light as late afternoon outside!

I like all the old car stories too. I don't guess you ever forget your first set of wheels... :)

My work in SoCal is going much more smoothly than I expected it would .. to the point of possibly finishing ahead of schedule, which is fine since it's a contract that pays the same .. I'm thinking seriously of renting a Tesla P85D on Friday, heading up to Hollywood for the weekend ..

I went to elementary school in National City, CA....where it was so over crowded we were split into two sessions.....I was lucky and went to the morning classes.....would have hated going to the afternoon session.....
My high school was split like that. Juniors and seniors in the morning, sophomores in the afternoon. There were no freshman as 9th grade was the end grade of "jr. High". 1-6 was elementary, 7-9 = junior high and 10-12 was high school.

First Car :: Used Rambler .. straight six, neglected to keep the oil topped off which resulted in it's early death .. if cars could talk .. ;)
rambler%201956Rambler-01.jpg

First Bike :: 1958 BSA Gold Star if memory serves, they used to call these "One Lungers" because of the single cylinder .. it had a compression release in order to facilitate the kick start .. no fancy, shmancy electric start back then .. really, really wish I still had it .. a few years ago, I quit motorcycles, I still maintain my license, I guess on the off chance I decide I might still want one .. but the truth is, I ended up just getting so paranoid about other drivers and safety, the last bike I owned had about 400 miles put on it in an entire year ..
