Noop. Itz all about the money. Something good for you (or rather, better than tobacco) and gets at least some of your health back is inevitably going to be picked up by everyone. So... tax the carp out of it while you can.
Yep as usual they will try to make it so expensive that normal people won't be able to try it so they won't and as usual they will cut their nose off to spite their face. Just like cigarettes, they've made them so expensive unless you live close to an Idaho Indian Rez that people who are in the poverty level or just above or below can't afford them. So smoking has decreased which is what they say they wanted by increasing it so much but now they are losing money. They have to make it up somewhere. They would be a lot better off putting a small tax on it, something people could afford instead of forcing people into some other means of obtaining their products. To me it's just crazy but what we think doesn't matter, or what the professionals say unless like Semi said they say what they want to hear. A professional like Rachel Ray. Another problem is the majority of non vapers really have no idea other then what they hear in the media so they think it is great to get rid of the evil vaping so their kids don't start, as they are taking Ecstasy and Smoking Herbs. The only place I have seen younger people using it is in the poorer neighborhoods where there are a lot of kids who get no parenting. I don't get it and I do get it. The govt wants more money the people want to protect their kiddies. Maybe they should be around to provide some parenting.

the hardest part for me is the stretching and scraping. No way could I do it now. But sure would love to find a big ol piece of brain tanned leather. I really would like to get back into doing some beadwork.
Up here, the native women actually chew the hydes to get them cleaned and soft. Here's a pic of "The Chugach Dragon", created by a blade smith friend of mine. It's wings are made entirely of chewed caribou hyde.

The blade is nearly 7 feet long in total and has "dragon eye" patterns worked into it's Damascus steel. The purple "boulders" are blobs of hand blown glass made by his wife. They are larger than bowling balls. His name is Virgil Englund and the photos were taken in the Chugach National Park, just outside Anchorage.

Woo-Hoo! Made it before Noon (our time anyway) :D
GOOD MORNING PORCHERS!!!

Wow Legs! That boat trip from Everett to Juneau sounds harrowing! You were lucky to get off with only two near death experiences! I had a buddy that used his 18 ft. skiff w/hand tiller outboard to go from Whittier to Yakutat with three drums of fuel and that was quite a story too!
We're too far South to bag any Bison but sure would love to. Those beasts are DELICIOUS!!! (Darned foggy here this morning and Fairbanks got their first frost of the season!)

Iffy, it looks like you weathered the storm fairly well. I'm sure glad! I was afraid you'd be surfing to Mississippi! Happy to see you were able to throw out an anchor!

HILLARIOUS!!! And thank you kad. ;) :)

Roto, repeat after me, "NO!, Hut Uh! NEWP! NOT GUNNA DEW IT!" In all honesty, I truly admire you. You're one tough cookie! As Janet said, you know better than anybody what your limits are. We still worry and care though. ;)

Deb & Kazz, yuppers, that sewing and crafting stuff are good skills to master. Still very much alive "up here". I can't do it myself but my lovely bride is pretty handy with the ol' knitting needles and cross stitch. How youz guyz doin' today?

Kaepernick? Ya he's got the right. It's still WRONG! I've heard that he is actually fairly philanthropic and that's wonderful. Perhaps he could do it on his own dime instead of on the team and fan's. As Shaq recently said, "Why now? Where was his concern last season or the season before?" IMHO, he's doing more to "stir the pot" than to help anyone. Yup, he has every right to cut off his own nose to spite his face. That's always proven to be VERY productive! ;)

In other news, there was a 5.6 "earthquake" in N. Korea this morning. So ya, I'm feeling very "secure" and relaxed..........

 V V
Yeah what did they say they exploded I forget how many megatons it was. At least they are bombing their own country now but who knows in the future. I think there may be some severe repercussions from old Kimmies fireworks experiment.

oh wow.....that's amazing! And jup......women did most always chew the skins, and I'm not the least surprised many still do up there! I'd lose the teeth I have left if I tried that.

They're estimating it at around 12 megatons, Legs. It was an underground test and this has been going on for a very long time, as U.W. eluded to. As Willie also said, it's been primarily ignored except for some "sanctions" and pleading with China to "do something to rein them in". That's what our President's most recent visit was about and as you saw, he got "the red carpet treatment".

As Kazz said, there's not much we can do about it at this point except make sure the bug out box is ready to go. (We do have a "remote" cabin so that's a plus) Officials figure we'll have between a half hour and 45 minutes to kiss our ***** goodbye from the time of launch, less if they fire it from a sub closer to us and they DO have that capability.

I'd lose the teeth I have left if I tried that.
I'd post a pic of a hyde chewer but that might get misconstrued as racist..........

I figure we don't really have any.
The way I see it there are going to be enough people vote for Gary Johnson that will come from the Hillary camp that are there because they think she is the least of 2 evils. If that happens it could win the election for Trump. And yes we will all still be here the day after but 4 years after who knows. The people in the Trump camp are there because they want to be the people in the Hillary camp are there because they think she would be better then Trump not good but better and along comes Johnson who has enough supporters that it could very well throw the election right into Trumps lap.

All this talk of tanning hides has me confused. None of ya are mentioning the normal tools used, like belts and paddles and switches.
Different kind of tanning, kad. You can put the riding crop back in the dresser drawer. :D

Mmmm, idunno, after the "Allepo gaffe" yesterday anf Trump doing the Russian pod cast on Larry King last night. But we're straying into politics again, Legs......... ;)

And we do have the capability to strike back but unless they can intercept it it will be too little too late. I've heard that Ft.Greely where I was stationed has turned into one of the biggest if not the biggest missile bases we have if thats any comfort.

Shhhhhh. That's "classified".   Besides, I'm not holding out a whole lot of faith in the "fly swatter" method of nuclear defense. It's all we've got though.

I've probably overstayed my welcome..........

But I do agree with you guys. N Korea is the biggest threat we have right now. Instead of spending trillions on a war we'll never win again. How about taking better care of the people here and focus on N Korea. We know where their missile complexes are where they are being made. Take em out but then I suppose China would be mad at us.

Okay, you talked me into hanging around a little bit longer. I just hate to bring the porches down but this N. Kporea thing is VERY real and moving VERY quickly. As kids, we had no concept of what nuclear weapons could actually do. Just duck and cover under a desk and everything would be fine. As an educated adult, I now have a MUCH different outlook. LIS before (insert extended political and sociological rant here)

Thank you, Legs. I really should pull the plug now too. Time for an extended vape and several adult beverages......
