This looks interesting: Portable Electronic Cigarette Atomizer Holdfast Clamp. It's on sale for $4.64 and free shipping! It'll be on the slow boat, so order yourself a little Christmas present now!

Um... what use is that? I'm assuming that it's to help you stabilize while building, but it seems to me that a 510 extention glued in a block of wood would work just as well.

I second that motion my friend. To put it succinctly, CFL sucketh mucheth.
I have nothing against CFL bulbs. Or LED bulbs. I use both in different places. Actually, I have one lamp with 3 bulbs in it. 1 CFL and 2 LED so I can choose the type of light I want. The CFL is a "sunlight bulb" and the two LED's are a regular and a "natural light". first click - 1 light ... second click 2 lights(first and second) ... third click 2 lights(first and 3rd) ... third click 3 lights.
I think it's a perfect marriage of the types.

I went and looked at it, I wonder what it was originally designed for. All those extra holes lead me to believe it was originally for something other than e-cigs. The reviews speak well of it and say it's a big help. At 4.95 or such I might have to get one, right now I just screw the base of whatever I'm building onto my mod and do it. Have always thought that some kind of holder would be nice. Nice thing about this thing is your not limited to a 510 connector, should be able to clamp down on just about anything.

0mg - hope everything turned out ok. I'll bet that was scary. Interesting too in a voyeuristic kind of way. I don't know anyone that isn't sort of fascinated by a big fire. Not in a weirdo kind of way but just fascinated. I think it might actually be an evolution kind of thing. "Ugh! Big Fire! Me run fast. Ok stop and watch now!" Kinda like that.

Fire is fascinating, BUT, it's so doggone hungry. It will eat up everything in its way in a minute. I respectfully watch it from a distance...........except when I burn stuff in my chiminea. Then I sit there with my stick and stir the embers like a witch concocting a brew.

That reminds me of this. Was it Mike or Iffy that suggested the clamp for repairing watches about a year ago?

Nothing suggestive about it - that is what it is. A clamp to hold watch cases in place during repairs.

What that "weird looking China clamp" thing was really made for... no idea.

I'm of the Ken clan: If I need an atty stand for coil builds I just drill a hole in a piece of wood. When the hole gets too sloppy... I just drill a new hole.

What I meant was that you could save some trees in the long run by drilling a hole and glueing one of these in it.

Note: I see another admin message that says starting We'd morning Eastern time, the forum will be read only for up to 48 hours, so get your selves ready for posting withdrawal. IMO, it could be up to a week if things dong go right. Transferring to a different codec is never the exact science that people think it is.

Or even hope it is.

Heck of a way to wake up. I have a neighbor behind me that has an all night get together one night every week. Last night during the big storm something went bang really loudly. Wake the dead loud. Still have no idea what it was but, I could hear the guy yelling at somebody about it. Only thing I can figure is someone threw something in the fire barrel, maybe an aerosol can. One of these days I am going to have to call the cops. I don't want to be "that" guy but, with the trouble I have sleeping anyway, I don't need someone making noise all night. They literally go until 5 in the morning or so.

Was gonna ask if you'd talked to him about it......but I see that yur fixin to. Hope that helps.

They brought in a piece of heavy equipment to pull of the rest of the roof on the end that was still smoking. It is done now.

Now I wonder how long it will take before they demolish the ruins. Once that is done, the neighborhood will be prettier than it was before the fire. :D

Glad the fire is out! And yay, that's kinda a plus! Something good out of something negative. And the best part of course, is that it was an uninhabited warehouse.

Too funny!! I would never do this of course, but my odd sense of humor has always made me wanna show up a big fire with a ton of marshmallows and some really long sticks!! Fires are totally not a laughing matter, but it gives me the giggles when I think about that. lol

Kenna - just sent you a PM.

why come the rest of us don't get one??? Giggle Head Shake.gif

I am going to be offline for a while starting tomorrow.

Glad you told us, reckin it's too late to ask how long. Hurry back!!! Hope it's something fun and not a bad thing.

In order to shed a lil' light, my update on my LED venture...

First off, da base of LED bulbs are as hot as comparable filament/incandescent bulbs. But da LED bulb itself is near ambient temp.

Da 5700°K 8.5W Ultra (OSRAM) bulb is just so remarkable! My 2700°K (10W) bulbs are very comparable to a normal 60W incandescent bulb (softer yellowish tint) at 1/6th da power consumption.

I'll NEVER ever buy another CFL bulb as long as there are LEDs available. In fact, l dislike CFLs enough, that I'll buy incandescent bulbs before any CFL!
.

I'm with Bells, mind expounding please? Do you have a preference 5700K vs 2700K are those circles degrees like they get hot? SIL has been wanting to get some of these, so kinda doin the research vicariously through y'all for her. So if I have this right, the incandescents are the ones with the filament that breaks when they blow like we always used..........and the CFL's, are those the ones that look like swirly ice cream cones??? (been wonderin bout that one for awhile, but think I finally figgered it out)

Hiya Roto!! Good to see ya!!

My lord... I just heard the thunder-boomer heard 'round the world. If it wasn't for this blinding, triple flash of lightning first you woulda thunk a bomb had dropped one block over. Never seen or heard one quite like that!

Will be interesting to see if there are any damage reports around here from that one.Gonna still be up for a while anyway - listening to see if I hear any sirens going anywhere.

Ok, lot's more thunder rolling in now so it's time to shut down the computer and power off. Better safe than screwed over. Many years ago I had a plugged in and powered up laptop damaged during a lightning storm - don't care to repeat the experience. Even the surge suppressor it was plugged into didn't help that sucker.

Glad it was not your home! Once the smoke clears out of the area, you may want to open windows for a cross breeze to air out the last of the smoke smell.

Make sure you know which way the wind is blowing if you open windows. Wet, burnt wood etc STINKS! Anyway, I'm glad the fire is out and that it didn't spread to other buildings. Uh Oh! Unfortunately, now that you're not smoking you're going to REALLY smell it!!

So far, the expected computer crash has not happened. Long story short.
