but now that son and dil are in their new to them house.......will be able to do it over there.
Cool beans! Are staying with SIL or moving in with son. After all you supported him for at least 18 years so he owes you now. Only kidding but I did tell Tori that she's taking care of Doree and I in our old age.

OK! It's hot outside, humid too... Maybe I can wait for summertime!

No, you have no idea how badly I wish I could live with son but it aint happening. To be fair, he did take on a lot up until 2.5 yrs ago. Just wish so bad I could take care of myself still......and not have to rely on anyone else. But also SIL kinda needs me here, so here I am.

My son and I kid about it sometimes, but I know he will take care of me if it becomes necessary. He is an only child so I just hope I can help him help me if necessary.

Bookmarked - is there a dress code if I decide to use the video. Are jammies acceptable evening garb?

You only gotta be older than yesterday to come hang on the porch. That be the only age requirement.
well... actually, we do not advocate vaping until a person is older than 17 years, 364 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes. ;)

Listened to you folks I did - been sucking this down all day. Who knew I'd even like the taste of it. Thanks for the tips.

Your body will tell you when you don't need it. It will start to taste bad for no reason.
For people like me... I apparently need it every day. I drink about a liter / day... lately about 3/4 a liter a day... then switch to flavored water.
In case you didn't gather from my previous post about it, Peach is a favorite of mine.
followed by strawberry. they are not as sweet as the apple.

Hey Y'all! Welcome to any newcomers. Matt, I see you're feeling a little better. Finally made it back home. I've never felt so disconnected from everything in my life. I could just beat the juice out of buttheads who make things harder for the rest of us who are following the rules. I doubt if I'll ever catch up.

With that being said, let me stop complaining. I'm home. I made it safe. I'm alive. Yep, I have lots to be thankful for.

I say that because the end of this work hitch was really difficult for me. Before I got this job that I have now, I used to drive nights delivering parts for the helicopters. Tuesday afternoon, I got a HUGE shock. I'm still friends with all the drivers that I used to work with. Shucks, I see them every week since they deliver parts to my base. Tuesday afternoon, I got a phone call that one of the drivers had been killed in an accident while returning home from Galveston. She was the sweetest lady ever. She never had a bad word to say about anybody.

Some jerk was driving in the total opposite lane over this huge bridge that spans the Houston ship channel. I know the area well. I've driven it hundreds of times. You can't see diddly until you get to the top of the bridge. She gets to the top of the bridge, and there he is. She tried to avoid, but it was a head on collision. BAM, she's gone. I had a major melt down over it Tuesay night. I worked with this woman. She was a doll.

Sorry y'all. I'm not trying to be a downer. Just hurt, frustrated, mad and sad.

You must be talking about the golden arches bridge. There have been a LOT of wrong way driving accidents lately. A big increase in the Houston area over the last several years. I'm sorry you lost your friend, Roto. It's got to be harder knowing the chances of her being to that lane at that moment had such slim chances, & having driven that route so many times yourself. I'm so sorry, my friend.

Still 4 X 40 ppp behind, so taking a breather in order to respond. Feel like I've been reading for 24 hours straight!
BB,

When ya mentioned ST da other evening, I did a lil' sleuthing. Found dat a Lowes' $299 convection microwave 3 year warranty ran 'bout $30 in house. ST was ten bucks more.

So I do think dat it all depends on both da device and current retailers options. IOW, do pre-purchase due diligence based upon da device and source.

Was impressed wid ST's policy; especially da 30 day post-purchase option.

Not bad mouthing 'em at all. Just do a lil' comparison prior to an anticipated purchase.

BTW, going from an ST 3 year to a 5 contract, a bit more dan double (understandably).
You are correct. The Lowe's warranties are definitely less expensive than I remembered them being. (Maybe I'd been looking at Home Depot but maybe not... like you said... due diligence is called for.) I checked another Lowe's microwave that was just over $300 and the warranty cost doubled for the in-house warranty, but it may have been for more years, don't remember and don't want to go look again.

Most important though, Happy Vapervarsaries to you and Matt!

I think you got it. The heck with the rest of us, he took this one for Miles! Think he'd just about do anything for that little baby!

And don't worry, he'll eat well for a month even if it is in the old kitchen. There was a guy that was supposed to come over last night to talk about the kitchen and Mike called him (before he got to feeling so much worse) that he REALLY didn't want to come here just now. So, we'll just have to wait awhile longer to see about the kitchen. I'm thinking that if I'm going to replace 1 appliance it will definitely be the fridge. Don't know if the cost of replacing cabinets will allow it, but this side-by-side drives me nuts. I want the 2 door opening with the freezer on the bottom. Anybody have any recommendations? Years ago I wouldn't have had to think about it - just get a Whirlpool, but no more, especially given our earlier conversation about tools and what's happened to big headed corporations

Jan, we have one of those double door freezer on bottom monstrosities. I HATE it. It's fridge section is TINY. If you have a freezer there is no reason to get it. Most of it iz freezer. I miss my old regular freezer on top monster. Twice the room for fridge stuff. Every time we open this one we have to take half the stuff out since what we want is behind something else. For me... giant FAIL.

But, of course, YMMV.

As far as the fridge goes - with todays products - I would be scared to recommend one over another - I can say avoid to many bells and whistles if you can - less to break and the electronics go first...

As to the appliance talk. Only major appliances I've ever bought were a W/D. Always bough kenmore power mate vacuums and loved em! Have had 2 and they last forever. Tried to get a maytag washer but they were skinny around and very deep, and I didn't want that, but got a different type at Sears that wasn't as deep and bigger around. can't remember now what it was, but we bought it in 96 and it lasted til this last move in 2012 when my son accidentally dropped it hard off the step even though it was on a dolly. It was a big step. Would have lasted who knows how long if it hadn't been for that.

omgggggggg that woman on there has more money than sense.......$2,000 for a painting done by a goat???

I've never had a side by side, but others have that I've seen/used.......my son and dil had one in house they were renting...... I hate those!!! Learned enough to know I'd never willingly have one. They're horrible. In the new house they have one with fridge on top and freezer on bottom, and my SIL has one like that. They're aren't bad I don't think. I like em cuz it hurts me to bend over to look for stuff, and since I get in the fridge more than the freezer, it's up higher so I dont' have to bend over and makes it less painful.
Hope I haven't misquoted anyone... fairly major editing so it's possible. Register any complaints with the new Complaint Manager, Ms Helen Waitt. Bypass other methods, just go straight to Helen Waitt.

That woman who was asked how much she'd pay for a goat painting said she'd only pay that much if it was really good. I think she was having fun with the interviewer.

I like my bottom-freezer 3-door fridge/freezer a lot after 3+ months. Like Semi, though, I wouldn't want to recommend one and then have you hate it. Plus, it has some idiosyncracies that might turn out to be things you don't like even though they don't bother me at all. The freezer is quite spacious but the basket design might have its detractors. I really like the fact that it has door alarms that go off after a couple a few minutes if any door is left ajar. I bought a $125 5-year SquareTrade warranty to go along with it, since I just finished getting burned by a Frigidaire.

This is the unit I got: http://www.abt.com/product/84906/GE...nfirm&utm_medium=em&utm_campaign=orderconfirm

Regarding Kenmore, my 1993 washer and dryer are still going strong but I did have to invest something south of $10 in a new control knob for the washer.

I do not have to worry about my kids taking care of me. When I retired, sold the house and told them I was going to spend their inheritance. They were not happy!

Googled the Amana model number and the interwebs was rife with complaints about this model. The condenser coils would corrode internally and as soon as enough of them were closed off then the compressor would overheat and fry. That model was only lasting 5 to 7 years and it was done. Amana's response to consumer complaints about it was "Out of warranty. Don't care."

But Consumer Reports said brand reliability for Amana was better than average so... :2c:
CR's reliability reports have lag time, due to the fact that come from subscribers who have purchased items in the 5 previous years. Amana is now listed as the least reliable no-icemaker bottom freezer model, twice as unreliable as Kenmore. Reliability for Amana isn't listed for any other type of refrigerator/freezer, meaning there weren't enough consumer ratings to validate the figures. I did spot an Amana side-by-side in the ratings.

I do agree, though, that Consumer Reports is neither as fact-filled nor as objective as they used to was.

I don't wanna get up, its sleepytime!
A great picture, Russell!

Signed up, Deb. I'll pull out the laptop so that I have a camera and microphone available.

And that is another thing I will 3d print when needed. Why spend $10 for something I can make for less than $1? :D

I grew up with the idea that inheritance was not earned. When grandma dies, I got her favorite kitchen knife. From grandpa, I got a small wall cabinet he made and some of his tools.
From both my parents and grandparents I have a lifetime of wisdom and fond memories. More than enough.

Oh, a 3-D printer that will print metal! Lol. The "old" knob used a plastic piece to grab the metal shaft. That's why it only lasted 20 years. The new one uses a metal piece. I really wonder, though (without knowing, I'll admit), just how well a 3-D printer could make that "gripper" part of the knob. It's more finely detailed than the things I've seen plans for.

And I can just imagine how much time I'd spend trying to save $9. I foresee do-overs being necessary. Time is money.

Grandpa made one of these for each of mom's kids when we were wee tykes. Except baby brother because he was still years from being born. We were like, uh, thanks, what are we supposed to do with this? No, we were not like that at all! Dad made sure to pre-counsel us to be grateful to Grandpa, and we'd get an explanation later! We really were very young for such a thing.

Grandpa also made me a wooden rocking horse that I still have, and I have a table that he made as well. You can't see it, but my name is stamped on a metal strip at the top of the paper towel holder. The green paint on the rocking horse is still holding up well. They don't make paint like they used to! Back then they put enough lead in it!

Here's my 60 year old rocking horse that Grandpa Elmer Henderson made for me. The picture doesn't show the horse's head and bright red ears (dowel handles) because it was dark in that closet. I used to fit on that thing, but not for very long.

Yummy, monkfish!

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large saute pan over medium-high heat. Season the monkfish with salt and pepper to taste. Sear on both sides until lightly golden brown. Place the fish in a small roasting pan and roast in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
