Say it with me
"Social media site"
It's about the only way I'm able to keep up with nieces and nephews... Since they were the last generation to write letters... When they were younger.

I was looking for a narrower classification. Social media (or social networking) covers a wide variety of platforms that have little in common with each other: Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Meerkat, etc. In fact, many people consider forums to be social media, although there's disagreement.

Has anyone here thought about having a group forum for our porches? I didn't even realize we could do this......but apparently you can. Robino was talking about it in the tootle puffer thread..... said that posts would count, which I personally don't care about, but I was thinking we'd no longer have to worry about FP posts getting too chatty. Don't know if that would put the FP in a less findable place, but wanted to see if this had ever been looked into before I asked her more info about it. After the move of course.

Isn't that what the Back Porch is for?

Problem resolved. Someone was angry at me, and set a password to essentially crash my computer. 8-o I picked the earliest possible restore point, and bypassed it. Just a bit of thinking.

Well that's awful. Glad you skirted the problem though. If you're not planning revenge, you're a better person than me.

Deb - don't know exactly what you're talking about. But way back when when I looked into 'groups' they were a pain to navigate. There was no easy way to got 'back to the group' and start reading at the 1st new post you hadn't read. Seemed you always had to start at the beginning and keep paging forward to find the spot where you last left off. Very awkward.

Nitey Nite Cl and LB man we sound like corporation! lol

yeah but we're always having to check ourselves in the FP to make sure it don't get moved. Would be nice not to have to.

That makes two of us!!! But she was talking about groups having their own forum. Not that we'd need a ton of threads, but it didn't sound like the tootle puffers group would either. Just we wouldn't have to worry about the FP being sent to the lounge. Thought I'd ask em about it after the move, find out the who's what's where's why's and how's etc, then see if anyone was interested in this if it seemed like a good thing. I know we don't want the FP buried someplace that folks won't see it. Just wanted to see if the forum idea had been looked into before.

Off to bed. Might see some of you in the morning before we get moved. If not, hope to find you quickly on the new one. Actually this is kind of interesting to see how this happens - as long as it happens easily.

Matt, your kitchen is looking great! And now that the place is going to look great - you're going to move! It's a shame you won't get to enjoy it, but you'll be off to a new adventure. When you move in to your new place remember this and make the changes you envision right away. Those ideas tend to get put on a back burner and never happen until you decide to move. Enjoy them now!

Love you everyone!

This is what I'm installing tomorrow. The squares are 1/2 inch to a side. 1/8" apart.

So what kind of cool super-duty power tool do you use to put them up. A nail gun? A cartridge fed screw gun? A self-feeding glue gun?

So do you mean within the existing ECF, or a separate forum that exists outside of ECF? If the latter, that requires somebody to furnish the web space (not that big of a deal), but then you have to purchase a domain, install forum software, troubleshoot, format, administer, maintain, approve/disapprove new members, deal with connectivity issues, make rules and enforce them. A fair amount of knowledge to acquire but even if you have the knowledge already, it's a fair amount of continuing work. Then on top of that you get people complaining whenever you change anything.

Or maybe you're just saying that it would be nice if the porches were combined with all posts counting, but no requirement to stay on topic? A reasonable idea but so are the counter arguments.

No a forum within ECF and I really don't know anything about it, except that Robino mentioned it could be done for groups. I assume sorta like the supplier forums. I reckin we'd have a couple someones that would be moderators of it, and they might have long standing edit power which could be helpful, but I'm only guessing on that. Just wanted to see if it had been looked into already before I asked them about it after the move.
