    I use to live there.
I just would have expected Killeen, or maybe Copperas Cove or Harker Heights, or anything other than Kempner to be your first guess, since Kempner is a much smaller town.

My morning started out excellent I was sitting on my porch having a morning vape with my coffee, listening to the birds chirp. watching the submarine races. The races were getting kind of boring, so mother nature brought in a side show. A bald eagle swooped down and grabbed a fish. That was worth the price of admission.
That would definitely be worth seeing.

Wow, after reading Tutu's post I feel lucky.

So far just rain, lots & lots of rain. So the creeks are rising. (but I got my pool noodles) ;)
The bad news is that there are 400 inches of snow that needs to come down off the mountain this spring. So this won't be a one day event.

    Add:
(to stay on topic) Got out the ole Cartopipe this morning. (just for giggles)

I can understand that. I like small town living myself. And I just realized we are on the front porch, so need to get back on topic. What kind of vape did you have with your coffee? vaping some diy Iced Lemon Cookie right now myself.

When the wind started earlier in the day, I had to chase down garbage can. I locked it's lid on it and put it in a little open topped trailer in the driveway. The top 30' of one tree flew over the trailer, popped the lid off the garbage can without leaving a mark, put a large gash in the ground, and shattered in the driveway coming to rest literally inches (not feet) from my car. Still scratching my head on how that all worked out with no damage.

But did you find the trash can lid? Glad it was all misses!

We had one heck of a storm last night. In the space of about 10-20 minutes, hard to keep track when you are that scared, we had roughly 20 trees that came down just on this property. Haven't counted them all yet.

I tell you this because I've just lowered my nic from 5 to 4 and last night was pretty stressful. Okay, it was terrifying because the power went out with the first strong gust when the trees started falling. Didn't even think about it until today so I'd say I passed the stress test with flying colors. :)

That is scary! 20 trees? No! But you did great with the nic! I saw on the news that your Governor declared the drought over.

<major flashback to my early DIY attempts> I'm never surprised wid what werks fer sum folk! Actually, your combo sounds tasty.

I just saw on the Drudge report that Seattle ballpark were going to start selling fried insects.

Seriously, insects are being promoted as da next major protein source; already is on some parts of our globe.

BTW, a warm and hearty welcome to da bestest cyber porches on said globe!

Glad you did well, bummer about the kayak. (Can you tell I like kayaks?)

I'm so stealing that. Smart woman. :D

Grab your pool noodles and snow shoes, then hang on tight. Tonight we had t-storms and got an inch of rain in less than hour. Hope all goes well for you.
Wow! So glad that you made it through without damage to you, the car, or home. You will wear out more than one chainsaw cleaning up the trees. Glad to hear your nic level got you through.
