so thier going from the lavatube 1.5 to the lava tube 3.0????
i just got the lava 1.5 the one with higher amps and reads the ohms

Yes. Confusing, isn't it?

Version 1.5 is manufactured by Uniq and/or Young June. That version has the original lavatube body design but uses upgraded internal electronics---with a 3.2 amp limit, resistance checking, and a battery-life remaining graphic with 0-5 bars. I, too, bought one of those, from crystalclearvaping.com---$51.75 shipped. Smokeforpennys.com also carries the Version 1.5, but only in full kit form for a higher price.

Version 3.0 is manufactured by L-Rider and is, logically enough, their third version:

  • Version 1.0: the original lavatube with a 2.5 amp limit, no resistance checking, locking voltage, and a digital display of remaining battery voltage activated by 7 clicks of the power button.
  • Version 2.0: upgraded body finishes and the new-style metal end cap and eGo-style 510 connector, but still using the original (and much criticized) Version 1 electronics.
  • Version 3.0: new body style with upgraded electronics providing a 4.0 amp limit and resistance checking (no more lockable voltage or 7-click digital battery remaining; now it uses the graphic battery indicator with bars, I think).
Version 3.0 is now available (currently in black only) at vaporbeast.com in kit form with two 18650 high-drain batts, charger, Ming-style drip tip, and 2 atomizers (3.0 ohm). vaporbeast calls it the Vector Variable Volt. Retail price for the kit is $68.99 shipped.

Given the relatively sudden appearance of two new Lavatubes from multiple manufacturers (with further refinements coming soon, no doubt), as well as the SmokTech Vmax, it appears that the Chinese are seriously cranked up to challenge the ProVari with less expensive knock-offs. And even if the ProVari remains king of the hill for many vapers (as it almost certainly will), I'm convinced that the Chinese will succeed in grabbing a major share of the higher-tech, multi-function VV market.

The next step down the road may be for the Chinese to go after Evolv and shift from regulated variable voltage to Darwin/Kick/dna-style regulated variable wattage.

If ANYONE purchases this before ALL the reviews are in they are out of their mind.......

I guess you can call me that because I just ordered mine. That price is unbeatable. Was itching to order a VMAX but then I saw this thread. And better yet this vendor is located less than 60 miles from me cant wait for this weekend!! It will go good with my MINI Vtube :)

I ordered one too, and I am not out of my mind. I've been shopping around for a VV, and I'd prefer not to shell out $210+ for a Provari until I know first hand how much I like VV systems. It's 70 bucks for the whole kit with free shipping. If it opens the door to a better world of vaping to me, I'd say it's money well spent. If I decide VV is the way for me, then I can upgrade to a more expensive unit if this one is lacking in some way. If I decide I don't want to fart around with voltage and ohms and prefer a simpler system, then I only spent $70 to find that out. If it ends up being a great unit for me, then I just saved a bunch of cash. If there's a problem with the Vector, I'm sure Tim over at Vapor Beast will make things right. I don't see where this logic makes me "out of my mind".

As far as waiting for ALL the reviews? I've seen negative reviews for things I really like, and I've seen stuff I think is terrible get great reviews. Every reviewer out there is a human being with his/her own personal likes and dislikes, so I take all reviews with a grain of salt. I've watched so many reviews in the recent past that I can predict what many of the reviews will say already, "It doesn't perform X function as well as X device that cost three times as much/has been my favorite PV for over a year." I'll take my chances and form my own opinion.

Cheers!

I have been using my old model LT for 2 months and really cannot see why one would want 4 amps. At 4 amps it would taste like burned rubber. How long will the bat last?
I cannot get past 3.0 volts with 1.5ohm coils as it starts tasting burned. I have 2, and they both the same. Tried diff juices at diff mix of PG/VG and cannot go over 3.0v.
At 3ohm I can go to 5v max. That is 1.67amps.

Your reasoning is flawed.....Fuzzy logic.....They pay people GOOD MONEY to be TEST PILOTS...In this case, you are paying THEM money....Not good!!! Cheers!!!

Then be a good forum participant and post your results....Make sure you own an independant voltage meter when you do the testing......MOST people who post here on the good and bad points of a Mod have never even SEEN a voltmeter, much less OWN one.

The risk is $70 bucks....If you dont care about $70 bucks send it to me or donate it to charity,,,,

Yeah $70 for a well established model with improvements and it is only a bit more than you can get the old model kit for (depending on the site)..some sites the older model cost more..I just don't see a ton of risk buying one...

I'm sure these devices are tested before they are brought to market..sure it could have flaws (so can any brand) but it is a known tested designed tube where they just improved it..not like it's a totally new tube VV design.

Anyways are you even interested in this model at all or are you one of those Preovari owners that just like to dis anything else that comes along?..if you're one of those why even bother posting in this thread?...

No one that buys one has to test and post here (but I'm sure a couple will) if you're that interested in the results then buy one test it yourself..BTW I do own a meter as do a few who post here in the VV boards...

If you OWNED a voltmeter then you would not be a LT groupie.....The original did not work as ADVERTISED.....Thats why I suggest to "proceed carefully" before plunking down any more cash on an item UNTIL it is proved to be "working as advertised".....Im looking out for people with LIMITED FUNDS......If you dont like my posts then please do not respond to them . Any yes.....for the hundredth time.....I do OWN a LT.....

Actually I have owned a volt meter and my "LT" works better than I expected..no need to be careful as I plan on buying 2 more I like my 1st one so much. For people with limited funds the V1 works well (of course it wasn't designed for a dual coil or low resistance) and I'm sure this newer version will probably work better as it will be able to handle DC's and LR coils..I didn't ask if you owned a V1 "LT" or not...
