I am going to be using this stuff wherever silica wick may call me... I have been using it tonight in a Fatty V2 and all I can say is wow....I love this stuff!!

To answer your question, yes... I had bought it with the intention of using it in the oddy clone.... doolak rocks and this strange looking silica does too!

Awesome, thanks! I have a post over to doolak now on his thread.. figure 5 meters will be good for awhile :)

I have omega XC and XS 116 and they are both equally thick. Way to big for the nautilus. I have ordered some from svoemesto which looks to be about like kwalka's middle example. I have 15 yards coming (had to make the shipping from Russia worth while). I seem to be building a nice collection of all types and sizes of silica. The Nextel I will not be using....they may say their fibers are too big to inhale but when I was working with it it certainly shed some tiny fibers.
Yeap, the one on the right is the XC-116, and its thick, too thick to use in Term ceramic, Ody 1 and 2. I saw the choices of the Omegas and didnt know that the XS was the one. As soon as I can I will order that Omega XS 116. It actually seems to be less "fray prone" I had to tape the ends of what I had to keep it from fraying like the proverbial " yarn" on a sweater.

But honestly if you are not running real hot set up you really dont needthe the Omega. Its definatlely going to last longer and its nice to try it out, but the COV is good, as well as the silicawicks one. But I really do like the one I linked at Ebay by an ECF member. I get the 3.5mm , I torch the hell out of it, no off taste and no need to trim any threads to make it fit in the channels as is. Its heat resistance is just about as high as the Omega Nextel.

This silica is also super strong. In my early days with mesh when I couldn't oxidize right to save my life I split this into individual threads and used it to wrap around the mesh it could be wrapped really tight and never tore. None of my other silica wicks can do this.

I've been known to wrap the old wire on to a new wick but in this case I will probably wrap new wire on the old wick, XC-116

Thanks again in4mat.. I just purchased 5m of silica from doolak on his thread and in the mail tomorrow for the trip across the pond! :) By the time those clones home in (shipping tomorrow hopefully) I'll be fully set for the Oddy clone tests!

No worries.... this stuff burns clean well... Have a feeling I will be going through wire faster than wick. :)

New BYO (built your own) tanks arrived yesterday.

Mid-mode for Ody (tank + mouthpiece)

Detail..... they are flushed in-line with the top cap and base.]

I have some of those BYO parts, do they come in the brushed finish? The ones I have are polished, but Id like the brushed finish. Let me know if they are brushed, or if its the lighting.
Thanks

Well I got my new orings and wick. The 2mm wick fits about prefect and to fix my leaky bottom/510 connection I doubled up the very bottom oring. It fits really snug now and does not leak at all.

The SVC 2mm wick is ok I guess. It seems to rip pretty easy when wrapping the coil though (need to perfect this). I really need to get/make one of those wire welders. Think that would help a ton.

Coming from gennys and cartos I really had to lower my volts at around the same ohm. 1.6 @ 3.6 I was getting really dry, burnt hits. Dropped it to 3.2 and it seems to be working good.

I just made a new coil and fresh wick using cheese cloth, and so far it's pretty good. I made a 4" piece and rolled it up the way Quigs did in his video. I think the 4" was a little bit too much, so next time I am going to go about 3.5". 4" was measured after trying to count the 40 threads as he suggested.

Also, finished my R/NR wire fuser made from a camera that I picked up for free from a photo shop in Walmart. I couldn't get 30g kanthal and 30g silver to work, but I had some smaller silver wire that worked like a charm, though it did take me a few tries. :D that was the easiest set up I have ever done, because I didn't have to fight with twisting the wires or have to fight with getting the knot in the right position. The entire strand of resistance wire is touching the wick.
