We let our kitty experience snow, in Feb 2014.... she took about 3 steps, lifting up her paws like "oh, ick!" then meowed and ran back into the garage! I don't think she was impressed. :D

The other day when it started sleeting, she'd been sitting in front of the sliding glass door... when all the ice pellets started making their usual racket, she ran and hid!

Andria

our little smudge was to tiny to see the snow last year
so he got to see it for the first time this year .

it was so cute and funny watching him put his first paw on the snow and pulling it back ie not to sure about it
then he walked around on it on our back porch with curiosity
you could see his paws slip and slide a little as he was trying to figure it out.

now when ever i go out for a vape he is out there with me playing with the snow but always wants in before me as he likes to be in the warm.

Some years ago I had an orange manx, by the name of "Yams" (he looked like a yam...no tail...orange). I lived in a ground floor apartment downtown; we rarely saw a snowflake. One winter though, we had quite the snowstorm; about 1 foot of the white stuff.

Each morning, after his breakfast, I'd open the window to let Yams out. He'd jump off the sill and head out to do his business. This particular morning, post-snowstorm, I opened the window and out Yams went. Unaware of the snow, he jumped out and completely disappeared with a muffled "puh" into the snow. No sooner had he disappeared into the white fluffiness, he righted himself and flew back into the apartment with eyes as big as snowglobes.

...."WHAT THE???!!!"

He was having none of it. The litter box saw increased action until the snow thawed.

Hope you are all safe and warm over the next few days. We are fixed on CNN, watching all the wintery weather and heaving a sigh that the West Coast of Canada only has to deal with rain.

Take good care all.

Lets see your cats do this!!!
In Cambodia, Rats Are Being Trained To Sniff Out Land Mines And Save Lives
I have had several rats as pets over the years and contrary to popular belief they are very intelligent, clean animals.
Don't want to be stoned for this but they are actually much cleaner then cats.:)
Just a little fun fact.If you are allergic to cats and not dogs you are really allergic to proteins in the cat's saliva, urine, and dander (dried flakes of skin).

I dunno about others, but I'm allergic to the detergent in cats' saliva -- and other detergents too, which is how I figured out what I'm allergic to, with cats.

But a daily Zyrtec handles it. :)

Apparently French toast is a common snowstorm comfort food, hence all the milk, eggs and bread!

There's no snow at ALL here, which is a shame, since I love snow so much. An hour south of here is looking at almost a foot; the city looks to be getting pounded.

I guess this is my penance for enjoying the last two brutal winters so much. I'd be outside shoveling for hours; 1am with the garage floodlights on, I'm bare-chested and it's -20F. Can't get enough of it. Which is why now there is none. :( My wife appreciates the dry winter though ( kept for the nosebleeds)

I finally got a cool-mist humidifier, and my nose says THANK YOU!!! every morning! Now we're thinking of getting about a half-dozen of 'em. :D I've been keeping a huge pot of water steaming on the stove, but if I keep doing that for the whole winter, I'll rust out my good 6qt dutch oven!

I've had many pets that eventually died, but I cried the most when my pet rat Caesar died.
Clean? Nope...he wasn't fixed, so he used to mark everything! But he was the cuddliest sweetest little thing ever!!

Just got off the phone with family in Staten Island and they upped the totals to 24" to 30". The buses are shut down and the subway and bridges will be closing at 4pm.
But I have to get the milk and bread!!!!!

We've got a Vicks vaporizer, running almost 24/7, but she also likes to crank up the heat. Our bedroom is like a sauna!

vape mail!

20160123_125546.jpg

Trying to get my wife into vaping again; previous efforts were kind of half-arsed. This time I'm starting with a brand new EVOD (my wife loves blue) and 9mg nic @ 100% PG. She has some sort of sensitivity so I figure this will be the best way to determine what is acceptable.

Oh, and the red tank is mine. My EVODs are cracking and separating after 3+ years of near-constant use.

Yeah, I couldn't deal with that; I think the preference in sleeping temperature is just another reason my husband and I need separate bedrooms, besides his leaping about in his sleep and snoring like a freight train. I've always read and heard that the temp should be cooler while sleeping, because too much heat when you're asleep dries out the mucus membranes, which is the chief cause of colds and flu, it gives the virus microscopic cracks in which to enter. I always turn the thermostat to 70 degrees when I go to bed, though if the weather is really really cold, then I turn it to 69 -- the more it has to run, the more it will dry you out. Actually I've often wondered if my husband has any blood, he goes around freezing all the time, and I am *just* starting to come out of "the hotflash years"; which is great, considering I've been having hot flashes for nearly 20 yrs now! (I got started young!:D) My mom didn't stop having them till she was nearly 70, and I'm not quite 55! Yay!

But, since I got the humidifier and a new space heater for my bedroom that has a beautifully-functional thermostat, I can have it just a bit warmer in my room when I'm sleeping but not get all dried out, which is really nice. :thumb:

Yup, I got them on the $1.50 sale. Had to go elsewhere for the matching battery, and the atomizers. To simplify things I'm going to see how well she does with the standard attys (everything there is 1.8Ω) before mucking things up with rebuilds.

btw I got one of those curved handle snow shovels last winter. A darned good investment. Much easier on the back than the straight handle ones.

Whole heartedly agree,I bought one last winter.Lighter in weight and less back ach than with the regular straight wooden handled shovel.

for 1.50 you can afford to throw the 1.8 in a jar for future rebuilding if you don't like it.
