I started vaping way back in the dark ages (2012). The gear available back then was terrible compared to today’s offerings. It took some work to get a proper hit that satisfied me enough to have a chance of it replacing my cigarettes. So the fact that I’m not using a 500mah cig-a-like with a cartomizer screwed to the top that I paid $75 for makes it hard to criticize today’s gear. Having said that my biggest pet peeve is product pages on these websites that don’t show a clear picture of the build deck on the rda/rta/rdta they are offering for sale. It’s the single most important thing to me when deciding on if I want to buy it and there is either no picture or a pic at a weird angle that I can’t make out the different aspects of the deck. What the crap? Show me the deck, overhead view, and enough angles that I can see the juice well depth, the screw types, and the relative size. While I’m at it throw a coil on there also. Thanks for listening vendors, you have 48 hours to correct this problem or suffer the consequences.

7 months into my vaping journey, here are my personal peeves in no particular order. What's yours?
  • Tanks that need pliers to unscrew.

This has become my Public Enemy #1 as I've been going through my vapocalypse stash. As I find one that requires me to keep breaking out the pliers to either refill or access the build deck, in the trash it goes. Notable throw-aways so far were the VCMT, Tornado, and Aromamizer [Supreme?].

So to add to the list, would be vape reviewers that rubber-stamp everything, without even mentioning things like whether they frequently had to break out the pliers. Seems to be most, these days.

That I still have a habit I don't truly want.

I love that vaping got me away from smoking, but seriously- who really wants to be a slave to a habit of inhaling anything other than air. Many enjoy the flavors, and say they LOVE vaping. But I think most, if they're honest, would truly be happier if they didn't feel they needed anything like it. Freedom would (one day will) be great.

But- the more appropriate answer for this thread: Now that I've found a cheap RTA that delivers a serious, super solid mtl hit, sips juice, with no leaking ever, and is easy to fill, build, and maintain, and found a great, inexpensive NET flavoring for diy...not much. Vape life is pretty damn good right about now.

I do hate that I found I love the HCigar Akso Pod to augment my use of my rta when on the go, but can't find pods for it anymore. I hate that there are a ton of new pods available now that, although they may be great (and some are pretty good), will like the Akso, not have pods available long. So I refuse to get attached to another non high-profile product that won't be supported very long, regardless of how great they may be. I don't even want a free one unless it looks like it'll be around a while. Change is necessary, but not always easy.

Other than that, I'm good. Vaping is great!

7 months into my vaping journey, here are my personal peeves in no particular order. What's yours?
  • Poor quality control. Great looking and perfoming mods or attys let down by a poor quality finish or bad design. Tanks that need pliers to unscrew. Mods with sharp edges. Battery chargers that eat the edges of wraps. Paint finishes that wear off or flake.
  • The number of variables that prevents you having a consistent vape from morning to night, one day to the next. Temperature, coil conditions, how hard you wick, age of juice. Battery charge.
  • Spitty coils. Not a violent tsunami of hot fluid, but the tiniest droplets that irritate the tip of your tongue. Invariably happens when you've got the flavour and overall temperature balance "just right"
  • Flavour fatigue. I'm currently surrounded by 8 different flavours to get through the day. All of them are really decent, but I can manage about 3 tankfuls/squonk bottles before I have to start dripping
  • The growing collection of ½ finished DIY juice that is nowhere near bad enough to chuck, but not good enough to vape regularly
You're still new to the game. In time you'll learn to get a consistent vape out of your gear. Now you're in your trial and error stage.

Couldn't agree more. I have absolutley NO complaints about vaping these days. Took a little time to figure out a vape I liked, the equipment I needed for it, etc. But I think most complaints folks have can be resolved one way or another.

Some peoples peeves aren't an issue at all for some of us. It's a very personal thing.

My final issues were resolved by:

1) Squonking - No more picky builds/wicking required for most RTAs. Hard to wick a squonk RDA wrong. Leaky RTAs were really resolved for me by top airflow tanks, but still had to fiddle with wicking until I got it down for new tank. Also, occasional dry hits if I'm chaining. None of this is an issue with squonking. Can't remember last time I got a dry hit, or had my RDA leak.
2) Frequent coil cleaning and rewicking as mentioned by @DaveP was resolved for me by switching to unflavored juice. I never smoked for the taste, I did it for the nicotine. Same with vaping. Even though using rebuildables saves the cost associated with frequent coil replacements, it's a PITA to me. Too much effort. Vaping unflavored, I used to rewick once/week on the weekend, just for something to do. Now, I only do it every two weeks, and it still could go another week or two if I'm feeling lazy.

So my final changes to vaping that pretty much made it perfect for me, was changing to squonking. I had switched to unflavored juice years prior to this when I was replacing factory coils all the time.

I sometimes pick up new equipment, but it's really just to try something new or have it in the vape closet. I'm really pleased with my current setups, nothing I NEED to change.

Also found what's a perfect wire/build for me. I use the Ni80 0.3x0.9mm rectangle wire and do 7 wraps @ 3mm. This comes out to about 0.4ohms for me on most of my RDAs, and I like the vape on both regulated and unregulated devices.
One thing I learned about sticking to just one setup is that you might be missing your next great vape. That doesn't mean that you buy everything on sight, but rather take a good long look around and choose something new. There's nothing worse to see your favorite vapes fade away.

mimo...I can only surmise that you were a NOT a cigarette smoker before you started vaping???

Since I live in a corner apartment where ALL the outside walls are ceiling-to-floor GLASS...I am somewhat "sensitive" to window cigarette/VG film...

As a cigarette smoker...I called the window cleaner every 3 months...

When I started vaping with 30PG/70VG ejuice...I only called the window cleaner every 6 months...

Now...after switching to 70PG/30VG ejuice...I only need to call the window cleaner every 9 months...

Tim...have you considered trying some WTA ejuice???

I keep about half my tanks filled with nicotine ejuice and half filled with WTA ejuice...and just pick up whichever tank I feel like at the moment...

WTA, the difference

..
9 months? My glasses don't last 9 weeks.
I hate condensation on clothes. Specially when I'm lying down in bed or on the couch.

Well, nicotine has benefits. As someone with a cognitive/memory disability, I can attest it definitely does help out with that.. It can also help with Alheimer's and Parkinson's, and depression.

And one thing people with such conditions likely have in common, is time. But that's a 'grass is greener' situation, so one thing we absolutely need is HOBBIES. Or else we go crazy.. Or at least, crazier than we already are.:-x

But I'm down to primarily 0.5 mg/ml nic now. I don't get cravings when I purposefully or accidentally leave my vape at home. So for me, there are 2 reasons why I will continue to add a small amount of nicotine for the foreseeable future: Medical, and because I have a nearly crapton of nicotine vapocalypse stash at that level.

The most frustrating thing about vaping is how the anti-smoking lobbyists have latched onto it and convinced my government that it's the same thing as smoking. And in the USA the the labeling on every piece of equipment must read "this product contains nicotine" even when it literally doesn't.

Funny that no one wants the same labels on Potatoes, Tomatoes, and other nightshade plants. Don't diss my vape while you are eating your baked potato and a salad with tomatoes. Coffee and caffeine are another story.

I'm guessin' that the soon-to-vendors Innokin Z-BiiP Pod System...since it's a collaboration between Phil Busardo and Dimitris Agrafiotis...will be supported for awhile...(for about $25)…

Uses any of the current Zenith coils...and a new PLEX3D mesh coil 0.48ohm...1500mAh battery...three (11W,14W,16W) Power Settings, AFC, Side Firing Switch...

INNOKIN/PLATFORM Z-BIIP Kit - Innokin

What I hate (not really hate, but dislike) about vaping:
(1) My somewhat leaky MTL atomizer

(2) Building coils. I'd been using the same coil for about 20 months (!) when it finally went *open* yesterday (broken leg), so it was (way past) time. (Yes, I know, some of you rebuild several times a week--don't tell me...)

I went ahead and made one for another exact same atty, plus another for a dripper that I wanted to re-do. I should be good for a while now.

It's really not that I HATE making coils. I just have to find a day when nothing else prevails.

Vaping most likely saved my life (almost 6 years now), for which I will be forever grateful. I'll deal with the irritations.
