Uh, yeah... I don't want one of those :(

Edited to add, I looked up the penalties, and I'm sorry Imeo, but I'm not going to be able to send you any :(

I'm sorry buddy, it isn't worth the risk. I did find out that you can apply to the State department for a license to purchase it. I'm sure it only takes 2 years or more for them to approve something like that. Politicians and politics really stink the world around.

As far as I can tell 3M has designated distributers for each region around the globe. There is a Greek site here: 3M Hellas

Anyhow, I know that each GG reseller has their "turf". A certain Greek reseller (in the UK?) will not send one of his remaining iAtty's to me, here in the US.

ATTENTION!!! Please note that we do not hold a distribution licence for GG Products within the following countries: UK, USA, Australia, Germany, France, Italy and Philippines.

I doubt that it is a felony for JonahNM to send Painfreak some extra wick..
;-)

Is there any reason you guys aren't using SS 400 Mesh for your wicks ?

Have you done ss400 on the Iatty?
I think Imeo tried it, with poor results.
I've been holding off on buying the mesh until i read about positive results. The wick on Iatty takes some sharp bends and i guess that might be the reason for Imeos results.

you dont bend it upwards !, and you have to take a torch to it and burn it where the heating element is too ! and yes I am now using it.

MWA, I tried it with the SS mesh, and it seems that when the mesh touches the no resistance wire in the side slots, it shorts the connection resulting in it not firing.

I tired to oxidize it with my gas stove burner, but maybe my stove is not hot enough for full oxidation..?

i had some silica rope from mcmaster that i bought for a different project. after getting a bit of a funky flavor from the wickstore wicks i decided to give the silica a try. i used the method that imeo showed where you wrap the wire around a needle and install it before putting the wick on top. i must say, the flavor im getting from the silica seems a lot better. i'm also getting that lovely crackle sound that i missed hearing. i'd love to know how the ceramic fiber tastes and performs compared to silica.

My Ceramic wick just showed up today, and it comes with a tag attached that says "3M's Precautionary Information states that 'nextel' is coated with sizings which may ignite/decompose when first heated. 3M's 'Heat Cleaning/Treating Bulletin' and 'Health Safety ulletin' are available upon request"

Yeah, that is stuff you actually have to consider with all of these wicks (ss mesh excluded.) Breathing small particulates of less than 3 microns isn't good for you.

I decided to try a small piece of XC 116 (Nextel 312), so I wrapped a 2.5 ohm twisted coil, and am vaping it at 6.4 volts. Amazingly it keeps right on trucking, TH is pretty strong, but I expected that (especially 2.5ohms at 6.4V). Hopefully my resistance wire will be here tomorrow and I can wrap a proper 3.8 Ohm coil. It is leaps and bounds better than the wick included with the iAtty. Though because it is slightly larger it makes the cone a bit tighter.

I dry burned the new coil on it hoping to remove as much sizing as possible. I will be firing up the kiln and heat cleaning mine tomorrow.

Jonah, That's exactly what everyone who bought some needs to do before using it. This stuff is made to handle the heat, a thourough cleaning with a blow torch isn't a tough job to do. Just remember folks, let it cool before you grab it.

I've been vaping on it all yesterday and today. It really makes the iAtty perform on a totally new level. Thanks for sharing this Jonah!

It's honestly amazing to not taste the wick, but only the juice. I was vaping 2.5 Ohms at 6.4Volts all day yesterday. It was great, but my Kanthal came today, so I twisted a 3.5 Ohm and cleaned a new piece of wick with my torch, and I honestly can say it is the cleanest vape, I have ever had.

I put some pretty mellow vanilla flavor in after replacing the wick, and it just really makes it shine. I'm gonna ride this one until it has to be replaced. (I'm a heavy vaper, If I am awake, I vape :) ) So it's going to get put through it's paces.

Anyone who is thinking about getting this, you Should, a good cleaning with a blow torch and it's spectacular. For what it is worth, the butane pencil torches (generally the small cheap ones) are perfect for this application as their flame is about 2200F ;)

I did not see the warning until just now. I am not to worried about it though, I burn all my wicks with a welding torch before using, then wash them in Everclear. Sorry to anyone who ordered on my recommendation that this will be a problem for.

WTH???? I don't have a blowtorch hanging out, dude!!! Sonofagun.........:(

When do the additional costs end on this thing???? 8-o I thought I was done after laying out another $50 on wicks and wires!!!

i found one on Amazon for $5... as with any cheap pencil torch i've seen so far, all have reviews by customers exclaiming "don't buy!" This seems to be a trend until the $30 threshold...

I have a bad feeling a few houses will burn after people read this thread. Not to mention a sharp increase in ER visits..

That said, could you suggest a model? TIA :)
