Ok I've had my i06 for about 2 weeks, this is my 1st atty I've ever used... I've noticed people getting 12-20 vapes before dripping again... I'm only getting 3-6 tops!!! Anymore, and it's so harsh it burns the back of my throat!!! The flavor also, drops down quite a bit after 3 pulls.
I'm new to atties too, but after trying out several of IKV atties they've all worked like a dream right out of the box (HV i06 3.5ohm, as well as LR & HV 510's and LR & HV 901's all in 1.8ohm, 2.5ohm, 3.5ohm, and the new 1.5ohm 510 XLR as well).
My 1st experience with an atty (a LR SmokTech) was similar to what you describe here. However after it finally broke-in a week later, I realized the atty had also broken me in as well. There was a definite learning curve for me. But after trying my first IKV a few weeks ago (a LR 901), I was absolutely floored at how easy an IKV is to use...all of them that I've tried, including the the LR 901 Carto. From one to another, they're all smooth as silk as if it was an IKV signature.
Like myself with my 1st atty, it sounds like a balance hasn't been struck yet. From what you describe above, it seems that your i06 is running too dry...hence the harsh hits after just a few puffs. 3-4 drops from there, just might not be enough if it's going that dry so fast.
I prime the atty 3-4 drops then put another 2 in... anymore and it starts leaking. I use it on my Darwin at around 3.4 volts 6 watts at 1.8 ohms... I have to take a 5 second pull to get a decent amount a vapor( not huge) as well.
Here it seems that there was already fluid in your i06 before adding these drops. If you're actually priming it here, then it means it's brand new, or you've already cleaned it out by thoroughly blowing out any fluid.
For a leak to occur like this, it sounds like there's already fluid in the atty, possibly even spent fluid clogging the atty and in need of blowing it out. If this was a first prime when it was new, or after a cleaning, the number of drops described above would not be enough to flood it, or even get it going that well (not on mine at least).
My i06 takes 8-9 drops to get it going when I prime it (after blowing it out thoroughly), then I take a few short puffs to gauge it, and add 2-3 more drops and gauge it again, and sometimes 2-3 more drops if needed. No leaks.
I just did it now to test it while writing this, and it gave me a good 16-18 puffs before it started feeling dry, then I add up to 4 drops to keep it going again. No leaks...UNLESS I toot on it hard, which is a temptation due to it's stiffer draw. Nice easy draws however, have been given me excellent results on my i06.
Am I doing something wrong? I'm also using FS USA RY5 for juice. Any suggestions how to get more out of this atty? Also, I'm taking off the DT and dripping right in the bridge
Not sure why you're taking the DT off to add drops?
Is it because the opening in the DT is too narrow for your juice?
If you can't file the opening a little wider, after adding drops give your DT a few short quick & light blows of air across the top while your bottom lip is against the mouth of the DT. But leave the DT on the atty, because the wall of the DT serves to hold juice along the top edge of the i06 (like in a 306), and helps the bridge regulate flow into the atty.
I don't have the LR i06 (just the HV) so I can't say much about the i06 at 6 watts and there are always other variables here as well. I can only offer my own limited experience which I believe has been enhanced by reading a lot of posts (like Switcher's) concerning proper use of IKV atties. And except for 5 or so min I invested to file out my i06 DripTip, I've had absolutely no issues in performance with any of my IKV atties...they give me the best smoothest vape I've ever had, consistently.
I hope this helps.
