You know I wondered about that and I checked it out and some people with a certain type of thing take 120mg 3 times a day. So I guess you can take quite a bit.
I was taking 40mg in the morning, and another 40mg at bedtime. Then I backed off to just at bedtime. Now I am taking it whenever I take aspirin, for whatever my 24 hour coverage of acetaminophen doesn't handle. I have been taking glucosamine and chondroitin for months, which handled my hip arthritis, but just added tumeric. Stopped it because it was irritating my stomach, and got a major flareup of sciatica. Read some more, and now taking it with food. Look, doc, see everything I am doing to avoid opiates and NSAIDS. And, no, I cannot have any more cortisone, already had my quota for a year.

I couldn't resist that imaginary conversation. Ties in with a discussion on another board.

I was lucky. My gastroesophageal reflux slowly got better once I quite smoking. I was supposed to be taking Symbicort but I had already stopped taking it about a year before I started vaping. I've got 2 or 3 boxes of 20 mg omeprazole but I've only used 4 or 5 of the pills in the past 3 years. Almost like a placebo... on the rare occasion that I feel indigestion I might take one but it's so infrequent that there's likely no effect, since it's a drug that builds up in the system.

I might have some genetic predisposition toward decreased bone density, and both omeprazole and budesonide (one of the two components of Symbicort) are not helpful in that regard.

My grandmother had it bad. It is rare in men. If my Omeprazole is that low of a dosage, I suppose I ought to resume full-time. Thanks, bells.

My dad, towards the end of his life, had some spontaneous breakage of vertebrae. Dad was on large doses of several meds, including steroids, that contributed to bone loss. Dad's concierge doc up in NJ suggested to me and my sibs in 2014 that we get bone density tests, but my personal physician in NC scoffed at the idea in 2015. I may insist on getting that test when I go for a full physical for the first time since then. If my doctor thinks I don't need it, I'm on good enough terms with dad's doctor that I can email him and he'll write an order for the test, I think.

One of many interesting things that I've learned from recent BBC watching: scientists now think that the natural inclination of woodpeckers to do what they do causes damage to their bird brains.... the birds, not the scientists.
Yeah. Bird-brain for me, in terms of my fear of osteoporosis.

@Debadoo The thing I feared most was seeing he instruments doing their work
Jup that is it. But good to know you didn't see em. Thanks Now to get rid of the images in my head of some animated maniacal instrument coming toward me singing see me coming to get you and I'm going to slice yur eyeballs open! hehehe

Only if the anesthetic isn't working!

One of the least expensive ways to try coffee roasting is with a popcorn popper. A great many people start that way and some never stop. I've never done it, but my FreshRoast 500 works on the same principles.
lmao........thanks! :grr:  Jup have heard of it in a popcorn popper, but have no other use for those. Either do microwave popcorn with all the lovely crap they put in that, or do the old fashioned kind in a pot on a stove. Which I much prefer, but it can gum up a pan a bit. I have an old pan that I would have chunked, but kept it for popping popcorn. (that pan was the last of a set I got from my dad off a TV ad when I graduated HS). But it's still in storage.

interesting. My son gets heartburn really bad too. The VA put him on only 20 mg, I told him to have them up it cuz that wasn't working, so they gave him 20 BID (twice a day) (for bells) lol I'll have to have them see if they can do 40 BID for him. He's drank enough milk in his life to fill an ocean or two so he should have good bones. The steroid shots worry me more than than the omeprazole, but that was good info bells, I wasn't aware of that about it.

Are you takin turmeric capsules? I had gotten some turmeric to mix an elixir someone on here told me about, but they said it really needs black pepper to activate the good stuff in the turmeric, and I despise black pepper. I tried doing the "shots" anyhow, but after a couple of them, I just couldn't do anymore. Imaginary conversations are good sometimes :)

Yep. Back on the tumeric capsules, with ginger as the activator. Ordered https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012OXMAMQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also sent a message to my doctor about the stomach and sciatica problems. Maybe a temporary increase in the omeprazole could help.

Just got out of an epsom salt soak. First time ever, and wow!! I am making progress, and hopefully this episode won't cause any permanent nerve damage.

those say black pepper, but as long as it doesn't leave a pepper taste with you then I could do it in a capsule, but i'll investigate ginger as an activator. I love ginger! Especially crystallized ginger

Sorry, ginger also contains the curcumin, active ingredient in tumeric. Only pipermine is an activator, according to research. Best to go with capsules.

I've been told that people regularly find popcorn poppers cheap at thrift stores, flea markets and yard sales.

I might be sorry, but without researching it, I'm calling BS on this "activator" stuff. Nothing at all wrong with black pepper and ginger (I use the former with regularity and the latter frequently), but I think when somebody talks about an activator for turmeric being needed, they're just wishing they knew what they were talking about. BTW, I use TONS of turmeric on my food.... love it!

When I had mine done the doctor talked to me continually telling me everything he was doing. The only thing I felt was some mild pressure now and then and I could sense my surrounding, but don't ask me to describe them - it was only a sense not an actual seeing what was going on. I probably had half of the senses due to his continual talking. The only thing that I saw was bright lights and a few shadows now and then...

OK, I'm not convinced, because the research is shabby, contrived or non-existent. But, just in case they know what they're talking about, my Wagyu beef burger has lots of 5-peppercorn melange in addition to gobs of turmeric. My estimate is 2-3 grams of turmeric and 1 gram of peppercorn melange. This particular burger was awesome, in contention for the best burger I've ever had in my life. I finished it an hour ago and still have an afterglow. :thumb:

I just remembered something. They put a paper shield over your face, I guess with just a hole for the eye. After it's all over they remove that paper and it's like they're ripping your face off. Must be fun for men... kinda give them the idea of what it feels to have their face waxed!

I dunno, but it does make sense to me that some things work better with other stuff, like beans and rice being a complete protein whereas beans alone are not.

well that sounds fun   But I don't have to worry about it for some years. If it's still that sticky then, hope they get my chin whiskers when they rip it off :D

Beans and rice is the same example I was thinking of when I was writing my escape clause into my original statement. But I'm not a true believer in the beans and rice thing either. I mean, like, if I eat beans for lunch and rice for supper it's not going to be as healthy as eating them together at the same time? I am a doubter.

Movie review: "Maverick", 1994. Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, Paul Smith, James Garner. Quite hilarious Western comedy. I'm being thoroughly entertained.
