Well today starts another 3 day round for Ginny. I wish I could take her place, I feel so bad for her. She's finally feeling better and has another do over. I have a lot of errands to run today is her long day, get there around 1245, draw blood, see the PA to see what her blood count is and talk to her about skipping the next one, then a bag of steroids, a bag of anti nausea, 2 bags of Chemo, so about 4 hours once they start and that is assuming her blood count is ok. They are having a 90th Birthday Party for her mom on the 22nd and 23rd next month so we want to go over on Friday and back on Monday. Stay at her moms so she doesn't want to be sick and if she made the next treatment she would only be a week out of it and the last one lasted about 11 days. We talked to her about working around the next treatment and she said it could work.

About a 6 hour drive over and then back again and she would have to start round 5 the next day. We need to stop and see our old friend who lives by herself, in the woods just on this side of the foothills of the Cascades. She is 70 years old and she fell and broke her hip about a month ago. Luckily she has some good neighbors helping her out. Her husband died about a year and a half ago from Cancer. She's dingy but really sweet. Always loved her. Don't know how she does it. It's about 20 miles West of Leavenworth, WA right when you start up over the pass. Heres a pic of her and Ginny when we stopped at her place a couple years ago. Everyone is getting so old.

Not so surprising once you realize that "special offers" means "permission to bombard you with ads". You are offering to let them give access to you for $15; a poor bargain if you ask me.

Well Hi Mr. Week! I'm in the general SE area too.

...and now i went blank....oh well...that's typical of me.....

I didn't notice about the "special offers" until after I bought it. But, I think the ads are just on the original screensaver type page, right? I'm not going to be bombarded by ads, right? I hope not. That would destroy the whole experience!

What thread? What participants?

God, I miss my books! Almost all of them are packed away at my brother's house. I'll still need physical books. I have read some books on my computer, and it's just not the same. There will always be a place for physical books in my life. Whether my collection or library books. I need to touch them and hold them and . . . .

That's the only way I'll read books.. I need the tactile feel of them in my hands...laying in bed propped up with pillows n vaping n drinking ice water.:)

@Uncle

Just so you know World Public Library is NOT free. There is a $8.95 joining fee.

Oh - Thanks for the info, especially since I never really checked them out, so I didn't know that. I have had that list for a few years and still haven't check all of them out yet. Matter of fact, I usually just only go to Gutenberg or access the county public Library online ( Yes - I still have a library card . . . ). They also have a program called Hoopla ( https://www.hoopladigital.com/ ):

"that allows you to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone – and even your TV! With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later. We have hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, with more being added daily. hoopla is like having your public library at your fingertips. Anytime. Anywhere."

I'm not sure I ever ate any deer meat before yesterday... if I ever did, it was long ago. Anyway, I bought some ground venison and have now made some burgers.

Unseasoned, it has the strongest taste of any ground meat that I've ever tried... I've had buffalo, veal, pork, beef, chicken, lamb and turkey. In fact, I was not crazy about the taste until I put some of my home-made hot sauce (ketchup, horseradish, mustard, vinegar, cumin, cayenne pepper, honey and almond flour) on top, after grilling. The sauce made a huge difference and the venison no longer tasted at all strange... it just tasted good.

I've noticed if you put enough ketchup and Tabasco on something, it does indeed taste a lot like ketchup and Tabasco.

Hey Bells Next time mix some chopped green onion or shallots and some minced garlic in the bambie burger. Fry it in bacon grease. Tastes much better with some light seasoning cooked in.

I too have a library card! You have to have one to access the Overdrive which is the online lending library many of us use. And most major city or county libraries are part of it. They have many of the same books you can physically borrow. For instance I've read all the John Grisham, Greg Iles, Michael Connelly and Randy Wayne/Doc Ford books through the Overdrive! Through the Internet Archive I downloaded all the Dana Stabenow/Kate Shugak mystery books among others.

And yes, project gutemberg is still free. Their books are all older…past copyright.

Sorry for your introduction/reintroduction (?) to venison. But, you had an improperly 'hung'/aged/processed deer! Either dat, or it's diet was either dessert or scrub land oriented. No excuse fer poor tasting venison if properly feed and processed in your neck o' da woods!!!

Will say dat even if sage fed (aka dessert/scrub), a good mushroom/roasted garlic sauce can do wonders to salvage a 'gamey' hoofed ruminant mammal's culinary 'impact'!!!

I have no benchmark against which to compare it, but here is the seller's description of the ground venison that I've been George Foremanning:

Venison from New Zealand, grass-fed, raised on tall-grass pastures, with no added antibiotics or growth stimulants. As free-range as it gets without being wild, our venison comes from ranches that practice sustainable methods and provide the deer vast pastures in a pristine environment. Our venison is superior-quality lean red meat that offers great taste, tender texture, and health benefits.
